Why does this game punich you for going OFFLINE?!
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to zalman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You guys still don't understand. It's not preparing before you log out, it's being prepared before even that. You need to constantly be mindful of your situation. You shouldn't need to go looking for a can of beans 10 minutes before logging out if you play the game correctly and maintain your resources. -

Unless they changed something recently, none of your food disappears when you don't log in. As I've said, you literally have to have ONE extra set of food/water, and you are back to full. You aren't being punished for not being able to log in, you are being punished for not preparing correctly. On the brown nosing part, I am VERY critical of some of rockets policies (Server administration policies being my major one), but the fact that we are entitled to nothing when it comes to game features is something I support. I haven't paid rocket a dime for this game(I agree that by definition it is a game) that I've spent hours and hours playing. -
So today all bandits are gone?

/sigh, way to ignore the rest of my entire argument so you can come back with a petty attack. You didn't answer the rest of my argument. Wouldn't their be consequences? Are you implying that killing a deer is the same thing as killing another human? Nope, pointing out that you are generalizing as well. The bandit skins are insanely unbalanced, and I support a close range tagging system (You see someone who does something untrustworthy, tag them, and then next time you are in close enough range that you would be able to distinguish them range you get alerted of this tag) but right now that isn't a viable option. -

It ISN'T a game. It IS an experiment that we all are fortunate to be allowed to participate in. Rocket made this for his own reasons, and we got lucky in that it's a great game as well as an experiment. You are not entitled to anything, this 'game' is 100% free, and the only reason you get to play it, is because rocket decided to experiment. -
Balota Airstrip Loot Question

Heya' date=' thanks for the heads up, but I am not sure if I understand correctly. Are you saying that only Deer stands at the milbase will spawn these? What about some random deer stands on the edge of forests etc.? [/quote'] All deerstands have military loot chances. -

It's an alpha, the main servers had a corruption issue. Get over it and move on. -

Everyone in this thread makes it seem like finding the basic resources of food, water, and wood, is difficult. Explore outside of Cherno and elektro. Animals are plentiful, and canteens can be refilled at any water source besides the ocean now. I found 3 piles of wood in a single loot pile in a farm yesterday. I regularly have to empty my pack of unnecessary food/water because I am carrying too much. -

A single food and water will bring you back to full. It's not hoarding, just being mindful to always have an extra. -

How to preserve my character before I reinstall ARMA
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to Goose Springsteen's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Your character is saved on the central server... Your player ID is unique to your Arma Key, so for every version of arma you have bought, you get a new player. You don't have to do anything to preserve your character. -

You won't have to worry if you think about your actions during the game. If you find 2 beans, you need to question, will I be logging out soon and need these? Should I take them just in case I can't find anymore? This whole discussion is solved by smarter play by the PLAYERS, not removal of a system, that is easily tackled by the players. -

Before you log out make sure you have food, water, matches, and wood ready for when you log in. It's pretty easy to get over. -

c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to cutzero's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hunt regularly. Killing animals has become easy while hunting. Call me desensitized, but I don't get nervous/shaky at all, I pull up and shoot. Who's generalizing now? -

Would there be? I'm in the middle of the woods in a post apocalyptic world. As far as I know, there are very few people left alive. I see someone else running along the road down the hill, and he seems to have a pretty full backpack. I'm hungry and don't want to go into town to get food, so I just pull up with my CZ, fire one shot, and down him. I hide the body after I finish. Who the hell is going to punish me? Besides other players, who have no idea it was even me. Think about it logically man, and stop being upset that you won't have a nice big sign saying "THIS GUY SHOOTS PEOPLE FOR THEIR GEAR/FUN" hanging over 'bandits' heads. -

The new system encourages you to have your bags well organized, so that you can quickly access what you need to use. I think it adds a bit of challenge, and forces you to put a little bit of forethought to how you organize your stuff.
