It's quite unrealistic to find zombies in ur backyard either :P Come to cherno, if you survive more than 20 minutes wandering around ill give you that but surviving in non-hotspots/wilderness isnt a feat at all. Offtopic: For what purpose should I go to Cherno? EVerything I need I get from Stary/Berezino/NW&NE Airfield. Why should I join the Coastal-Beanwar-Elitists? Last time I checked, this game was about surviving. Maybe you're playing the wrong game.
-
Unrealistic if you assume the zombies just appeared out of nowhere' date=' but if we assume some background story, it's obvious the military who first attempted to secure the region would realize how noise was important and often use suppressed weapons. [/quote'] In the case of Chernarus the local military just doesn't have access to suppressed weapons. We're speaking of regular infantry not some special forces. Unconventional weapons like the crossbow should be much more important in DayZ.

Crouchrunning should be much more exhausting.

Any chance to get this server running again? Whoever owns this machine: You've set up a pretty neat server i enjoyed playing on.

Stop begging the Devs to reset your characters. FFS this an an Alpha. Deal with it. -
Removing High Powered Weapons and Silenced Weapons
reuter replied to B0SSMANN (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah and those weapons would be most probably locked down or be in use by their owners. Same goes for military weapons. And for suppressed weapons there is no excuse at all. They are just not available for standard Infantrymen. Inb4 "Carebear HurrDurr": Personally i carry an M4 CCO SD. It is clearly the most useful and therefore most powerful weapon in this game. Period. -

You want a mechanic? Here is the mechanic: Mass murderers have to heavily suffer when being killed. The more people you kill, the longer you have to wait for a respawn. Maybe like: Kills * 0,5 * hours. And this value will reset only if you get eventually killed. Or even better: Kills * 0,5 - Playtime in hours = Respawn Penalty in hours The latter will eventually not affect banditry at all. But it will effectivly prevent people from joining the coastal beanwar. The idea is that people tend to behave like dicks because they're lacking the fear of having just ONE single life like IRL. This mechanic will make you think twice before pulling the trigger. The key is, that this doesn't affect a bandit while being in-game. The penalty is only applied after being dead. Killing on sight will probably become less common. Because nobody wants to stockpile hours and hours of waiting for a respawn.

Would you be mad if they were working on a separate game instead of a mod?
reuter replied to hazychestnutz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But he is totally right. What the hell are people thinking? You paid for Arma II, not DayZ. If they're shutting down all servers by tomorrow, they don't have to give a flying fuck about it. -
These are the "major updates" i mentioned earlier. But after fixing these issues, they really shouldn't waste their time. I'd rather play a polished version of DayZ based on Arma III instead of playing DayZ until Winter with some major flaws, that could never be solved within Arma II.
-
Maybe rocket should just concentrate on porting this Mod to Arma III and polish it within the new engine. There are some limitations in Arma 2 preventing this mod to work flawless. Period. Consider this as a proof-of-concept until now. It works, it makes a hell lot of fun and apparently there are plenty of people who are willing to support this mod with their money. But with Arma 2 under the hood it will never be sustainable as a standalone version. Release some major updates, let the servers running and leave it be. I really don't see why the developers should continue their work within the outdated Arma 2 engine. The successor is coming this year and I ensure that many people will buy Arma III just for DayZ. Take this as a promise.

YOU DO NOT NEED THE FULL VERSION OF ARMA 2 TO PLAY DAYZ

Tonic, how do you plan on alerting forum members of the security breach?

Multiple kills in debug forrest recorded on video
reuter posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Just found this reddit-thread where a guy named "WhiskeyFive" is repeatedly killing in the debug forrest. http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/u7msz/livestreamer_openly_exploiting_dayz_live_to_fans/ Video evidence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8VFZfuk60Y&feature=g-u-u Can't tell on which server it happened though. -

I'm with Mushy. He's legit and I also think that this will just blow over. But about that harassment in Reallife: Wow, seriously? It's still just a friggin videogame. 4Chaners are indeed acting retarded as always. -

Oh wow. After watching his Excuse/"5 minutes of rage" Bullshit i kinda felt sorry for opening this thread. (I don't know this guy. Never watched his Streams) Now I see that he did it twice and indeed very deliberately. I'd vote for a permaban now too, bearing in mind that he showed this shit to a quite huge audience and acted like a true dick that nobody wants to see playing DayZ anymore. -

A mechanic to prevent DayZ turning into a massive DM
reuter replied to reuter's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The coastal beanwars will probably stop. But I don't think that smart bandits will be affected by this penalty at all. So the danger of getting shot anytime will remain. Please don't forget: The main idea is to make your own life much more valuable. Since most of the longtime palyers already have tents, Respawning at the beach doesn't mean that much. -

Your anti PvP solution would not change a thing. It would only force players to buy more licenses of the game. If it prevents the majority of people from griefing/useless deathmatch then the job is done. -

You got my point. It has to be a tough decision to kill anybody. -

You're maybe right. I've never played any MMORPG Bullshit, therefore I'm not used to certain terminology. I'm just sticking to the description in the Wikipedia.
