I think one hit bone break is ridiculous, regardless of blood levels, and one hit KO should be pretty much only when you're passing out on your own anyway. I had two one hit bone breaks and two one hit KOs in the last DAY. Complete bollocks. I think the broken bone should only be possible if a zombie has hit you a couple of times consecutively, to sort of simulate the whole "getting a hold of you and giving you a good old munch" kind of thing. It's not that a zombie would hit you with its fist and break your leg, but more that if you don't get away from it, it will grab your leg and munch. So this means that if you do get knocked out, and the zombies have a good munch on you, then you might be talking about broken bones. Also, instead of potentially knocking you out when they hit you, maybe there should just be a chance that they slow you down, more like L4D styles. If there are enough of them chasing you and hitting you, you won't be able to get away, which is more realistic for getting chased by a pack of zombies, I daresay.

In the meantime, just disconnect as soon as you get teleported. I did this the other night after getting teleported to Stary Sobor. I joined a different server and raided the supermarket and military tents nearby :)

This is right up there with asking criminals in real life to wear oversized hats to identify that that have the intention of breaking the law.

Speaking of piss, you are surely taking it, no?

End Game - Things to make you group up.
unclegus replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Okay, not to say that this game should be more like other games, but here are two comparisons: Minecraft - there is an "endgame" but it doesn't end the game, you carry on mining and crafting and you don't even need to bother trying to complete it if you don't want. L4D - there is a clear objective and you can win and escape in the helicopter/car/boat - hooray! That ends the "game" but then you just load up another campaign and see if you can do better. So it would be good to keep DayZ completely sandbox while also allowing players who have nothing left to do to complete the endgame objective so that they have a good reason to start again. Hell, you could even make the end objective ridiculously fucking hard to achieve so that when you see the message: "Jimmlies escaped Chernarus with score 1143 after surviving for 13 days", everyone is like "HOLY FUCK, SOMEONE GOT OUT." -
Does the game currently have different levels of light depending on the moon and the weather? If it doesn't, it should. I'm pretty sure it does though, because I have joined servers at 3am and been able to see enough to navigate my way without crashing into things whereas other servers have been pitch black. Or maybe the night time level of light is a server setting?

Anybody else getting this notification?

You can also join servers using Six Launcher. -
Don't the bodies despawn after half an hour anyway? I'm pretty sure a person wouldn't start decomposing before then, and half an hour would surely be a narrower window than the margin of error when guessing someone's time of death with no medical apparatus.

^ This, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be hard to implement animal AI. Just have it exactly the same as zombie AI but they run in the reverse direction until they lose sight of you.

Yeah, but if I logged out at my base seven hours ago, the person tracking me can still see where my base is seven hours later. It doesn't matter how much of a delay there is, you wouldn't have to look at the data long to see the GPS'ed road flares moving back and forth to the same place or hey, how about this crazy thought: what if they actually LEFT THAT ITEM AT THEIR BASE. Stupid idea.

Lighting Buildings/Camps/Players on fire with matches.
unclegus replied to esham (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I logged a bug the other day about a visual glitch. The view distance fog was being rendered as animated flames. I shit you not. It made the forest look like it was on fire, but as I got closer, the flames moved. I thought that maybe forest fires were a part of the game and someone had left a campfire burning. There is no way we should give the cavemen that play this game (myself excluded) access to fire. That would be PANDEMONIUM. -
czech backpack should be BETTER than alice!

Alice pack? Alice pack? WTF is Alice pack? -
That's just fucken stupid. That's the equivalent of having a GPS installed in EVERY ITEM IN THE GAME. Oh, you picked up those road flares? I held those once, so now I know who you are and where you were X hours ago. Oh look, you seem to spend a lot of time up in a particular spot in those hills. Hidden base much?

Limit neverending sprint (Indepth stamina)
unclegus replied to jmido8's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Oh, and it's not so much sprinting as jogging. Remember that the Arma 2 base game is a military game, so these guys have been trained for this kind of thing. But yeah, being a random in a zombie apocalypse might be different. The only issue I have with changing this is that it takes a really long time to move across the map already, and most of my game time is spent running around through the trees. I would hate to spend even more time running and having to rest all the time. -
Limit neverending sprint (Indepth stamina)
unclegus replied to jmido8's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Sprinting already consumes water/food. I like the idea of moving slower when you're closer to death though, Resident Evil styles. -
I would only support this idea if you can get in it and someone else can push you down a hill and you can crash into a rock and get all hurt 'n stuff.

Preventing server hopping to get better loot

And it also punishes people for swapping servers for legitimate reasons. -
Who thinks this games to easy? *regards to gear*
unclegus replied to sheepdog's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Having characters saved on servers is a bit dumb, but having private hives would be better. That way an ISP can set up eight servers tied to the same hive server, providing enough coverage for their customers without having to limit people to one server to keep their character. You'd still get server hopping, but only amongst that group. I have another idea for preventing server hopping in another thread. -
This is not a suggestion to prevent disconnecting to avoid PvP death, but I imagine when that problem is finally solved (heh), it would solve disconnecting to avoid zombie death as well. In the meantime, this: When a player logs out, information about the player is saved in the Hive server. If there are any zombies aggroed towards the player, then information about those zombies should be saved to the Hive as well, so that the next time they log in to any server, hello! there's the same zombie.
-
Oh, and one other thing I thought of, your blood should regenerate while you are logged out as well, but perhaps your food/water bars should deteriorate somewhat, as though the player is asleep. This would prevent the boringness of having to hide in the trees for eight hours waiting for your blood to come back. You might have to hide for a while, but when you eventually log out and go to bed in real life (do people actually do this?) then the player would be "sleeping" in DayZ as well, regenerating health.
-
I had exactly the same idea, except with a couple more conditions: NO human being can eat eight steaks in one sitting. That's just crazy. You shouldn't be able to eat when you are full, and eating food should not fully restore your food bar; different pieces of food should bring back different amounts of food points. And you should regenerate more blood when you are fully hydrated/fed, but it shouldn't stop as soon as you lose a little bit; it should just decrease as you get more hungry/thirsty.

I get clips refilling even when there's only one round left.

End Game - Things to make you group up.
unclegus replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I found this thread by searching. I also think there should be some kind of endgame, but it shouldn't be compulsory. What is the goal of surviving a zombie apocalypse? Escaping to safety. So there should be some way to escape from the map, but it should be impossible for an individual on foot. There should be hordes of tougher zombies, maybe one or two "boss" type zombie creatures. Perhaps you can escape by getting hold of a car and zooming past the majority of zombies, but getting hold of a working car is difficult for an individual. Maybe you could fly a helicopter over all the zombies, again, getting hold of a helicopter and repairing it to a working condition would be nearly impossible for an individual. Once you escape, any gear you are carrying and any vehicle you are driving de-spawn, meaning that there is an incentive to team up at least in a small group in order to secure a vehicle, repair it, and get out. Or perhaps you can just group up and get out on foot after packing up enough military hardware. So why would you want to do this? Maybe your escape count can be kept against your player ID. Maybe some kind of visual enhancements, like bandanas or "military rank" on your epaulette or something like that. Maybe there could be some kind of score calculated out of a combination of zombie kills, gear carried, vehicle driven, days survived, final health, etc. Trying to get your name at the top of the leaderboard might be incentive enough to stick around keeping yourself alive killing zombies before escaping to take top place. And what's this? Another group of survivors trying to escape at the same time? What next? Do we all team up or do we take each other on? So yeah, this game is just an Alpha at this stage, and I would be surprised if there was nothing significant added between now and then, and hopefully whatever decisions are made about game mechanics provide an alternative to just killing other players without completely eradicating the PVP element.
