How the player's health should be restored
unclegus replied to federik21's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have lost count of the times this idea has been suggested, but yes, it is a very good idea in my opinion. -
Request to be moved in playable area. Stuck in Debug Plains.
unclegus replied to Essonimex's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
just happened to me, so, yeah. -
Has anyone else been teleported to the debug plains by equipping a ghillie suit? I just did. I put all my stuff down to make sure it wasn't deleted or whatever first. So then I got teleported to the abyss and all my stuff is probably despawning as I type this. I aborted and I am waiting to rejoin. Hopefully I will be back where I was and I will be able to pick up my kit again.

I already have my settings on that and I get this issue. I thought it was just my shit viddy card. Maybe it stopped because you changed your settings and something got re-initialiased, rather than because you changed your settings to a specific configuration.
-
Okay, so that's two spawns in a row where my gear has been reset.
-
Beans given.
-
I agree. Survival timer should be a measure of ingame time.
-
Oh, and I think I've already said this before but no harm in flogging that horse: one shot knock outs I can understand and tolerate, but one shot leg breaks are just plain fucking bullshit.
-
Sounds like a hacker.

Yeah, just lost everything I had :( I had a bunch of spare maps and useful items in an alice pack in my tent. I was trying to prevent getting looted so I picked up all I could carry before logging out. I log in just now and I have basic starting equipment. Ratshit. Oh well, Alpha.
-
I planted a tent two days ago and died afterwards. It's gone now. Is that because I didn't save it?
-
Here's my (idea): use the search function. None of your (ideas) are even remotely new.

I was playing with a buddy last night. We were in a barn. A zombie would spawn in the centre of the barn about every minute, even though we were both there. In some cases, we would shoot the zombie, then it would despawn and another zombie would spawn in the centre again. We bailed.
-
I think it would be a good idea to have other threats besides zombies but I'm not fussed. As long as you can't just live in the trees indefinitely with zero threats to your survival.

Date/Time: 26/07/2012 12:30 NZT What happened: I opened a gate at the deer stands south of the airstrip in Balota and I got knocked out, shocked, broken leg and started bleeding out. I went from full health to about 3000. Where you were: Airstrip by Balota. What you were doing: Opening a gate. It opened towards me, but there was no way to get out of the gate's way and open it carefully because of the super queer ARMA 2 interface for interacting with objects. *Current installed version: 62.95312

While I think that it's ridiculous that you can be nearly dead and then just go ahead and eat an entire cow and be fit as a fiddle again (and I have suggested/supported other alternatives), I also think it is ridiculous that you can kill, gut and cook a cow in less than a few minutes. Chopping enough wood out of a tree to build a campfire using a God-damned hatchet? Instantaneous. Cooking an entire cow on said campfire? Instantaneous. Gutting an entire cow? A couple of seconds. I think these actions should take considerably more time, prompting people to be more choosy about where they do this, and also adding value to the piles of wood that you find around the place. They might save you a couple of minutes of chopping time. Sure, this would make that part of the game more boring, but I still think it should be more difficult to return to full health.
-
That's what I remember from Operation Flashpoint. It does make sense to be able to "compress" your ammo into as few mags as possible, but it should be a slow action, not something to be done on the move. More important than implementing this is to fix the replenishing mags on login bug, of course.
-
Obviously this game needs more zombies. And more maps. And more guns. And more options of things to do. This is an ALPHA so it's not a finished game. Of course there will be more zombie types, guns, vehicles, etc. The purpose at this stage is to fix up the mechanics of the game, not to add content.
-
I think the whole murders/bandits thing should just get scrapped. To quote Captain Jack Sparrow, the only rules are "what a man can do and what a man can't do." There should just be a count of zombies killed and players killed.

Because 'Murka.

Yes, there probably are a number of ideas for temperature already being bandied about in the dev house and I wouldn't be surprised if fever was one of them. You get sick, you get the shakes and your temperature goes up, you get very thirsty and maybe you hallucinate and items appear different on the ground so you try to pick up ammo and end up picking up trash cans, etc., seeing zombies where there are none, etc.

10 Suggestions/Ideas [Feel free to elaborate!]
unclegus replied to CerebralZombie (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
All of these ideas have been suggested already, except maybe mirrors, which is not a very good idea. -
Heal broken legs over time with bandages (Or crutches!)
unclegus replied to jackrc11's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think it would be better if you could limp instead of just crawling. -
Quote a few suggestions like this already. Most people are very averse to having achievements or points, other than kills.
