  1. Straight from the default Arma 2 server difficulty settings for Veteran servers:
  2. at 1:45-1:48 clearly has you mousing over your buddy without names popping up. How are you seeing names on a veteran server?edit: Hah, wow, I just watched the rest of that video. At 3:15 you have people calling out that they're over the hill, at 4:40 you have one guy saying "Wait until they crest the hill" when the man looking at the hill clearly has thermals enabled and would see anyone (and doesn't), you have a giant train of people following the guy saying "Fuck it, they're behind this hill", at 10:15 you have November Sierra getting sniped 20 seconds after claiming "KitKat is still there." I mean seriously, unless you're posting the full audio, it just makes you look guiltier than sin when you are seemingly viewing through solid objects.
  3. You keep using these words. I do not think it means what you think it means. Here's a question. How are you seeing player names on a server that doesn't have any? 06:00-06:20 on .
  4. Server is on recruit setting probably.
  5. yeah they were removed from the game but some of them still exist I also think the LA85 with thermal was removed but a lot of them are still around. Both of these weapons although very rare are not in anyway hacked into the game. L85A2 is currently in the game, M107 TWS got removed in version 1.5. Off the top of my head the L85A2 is called BAF_L85A2_RIS_CWS.
  6. Bicycles have no parts so you can get back off and get back on without worrying about it.
  7. If you're going to have fog with increased audibility there's no reason why cities (in particular the larger cities: Cherno, Zeleno, Elektro, and Berzino) aren't similarly affected by the echoing effect of gun reports.
  8. The M107 TWS was a part of Day Z before 1.5. Some players might have survived and had them as legacy weapons. The Holo 203 SD however, is not legit.
  9. Bloodbags would make way more sense if their icon actually reflected what they were: tubing to do a blood transfer from person to person (apparently everyone is the same blood type). They aren't actual bags of blood because those don't keep in non-refrigerated settings.
  10. Sry, but: no. This is an alpha. This might be okay during a beta, but seriously it's an alpha version. We are supposed to test it! Because finding bugs with a server full of 50 people is somehow harder than foisting obviously untested changes onto 50,000? If rocket actually wanted to get the bugs fixed he could just get 10 servers running off the master server list with easily accessible weapon/vehicle/loot storage and spawns. Nothing transfers over so you can bugtest away. Hell, it's what Eve Online has been doing for half a decade.
  11. Here's a hint: no other developer on the face of the earth would decide to introduce 6(or more) systems changes (Zombie LOS, zombie spawning mechanics, player spawn changes, new brightness limitations, vehicle spawning, humanity lookover heartbeat) in one patch. It's hell to accurately keep track of the changes and bugs that need to be fixed with that many variables and completely fucks with the player base. You put temp/the gear changeover in its own patch and then bugfixed half a dozen times in the patches after. You're going to force a dozen hotfixes at the least thanks to this. Follow every other development cycle: introduce a change, test change (on an actual set of full servers, which you obviously didn't do for this one since you didn't see the horrendous zombie spawning issue), bugfix. Adding 20 new "features" in one patch makes going from one to the next like dropping off a cliff and forces server owners to decide between the horrendous bugs of one or being outdated.
  12. Apparently my opinion is being vindicated as we speak since we're now on "Hotfix #3" at this point. 2 of the bugs would have been noticed with less than 10 minutes of testing (zombie counts being drastically increased in 1.7.1, guns spawning 20 hatchets in 1.7.1.2)
  13. Don't mean to be rude but WE ARE the testers bro... Picking up weapons spawns 20+ crowbars and hatchets and neither one actually works. They also apparently take up the main weapon spot. This is stuff that would be obvious with about 5 minutes of testing.
  14. FYI, in order to place tents, you need to be moving. Open gear, start moving forward slowly, hit "Pitch tent". That has worked in clearings in the past so I'd try it in a clearing before moving to woods to see if it works for you.
  15. You need to get out of the vehicle for zombies and loot to spawn.
  16. Seems like my analysis is vindicated. Good job there rocket.
  17. The problem is the way the mechanics of the game disallow placing tents next to solid objects like trees within a certain distance. Tent cities would be far harder to spot if they weren't solely located in clearings.
  18. If you put on the ghillie suit, wait 20 minutes before disconnecting and you should avoid most of the issues.
  19. Because? I thought it was a retarded idea too. Until I actually sat down and thought it through' date=' then I thought [i']maybe it might be worth a look. All of your ideas are gearing people further and further towards going through outrageous measures to ensure that they don't die. Here's a list of your issues that people are avoiding by going to 24/7 daylight servers running 1.6.0.1. 1)Tent placement is currently fucked, because if you place a tent there's a horrendously high chance of clipping inside of it and breaking bones/bleeding/getting knocked out. I watched 5 tents go up with that result happening every time. 2)You can't see anything at night so nobody plays on nighttime servers anymore unless they have NVGs. Furthermore zombies are now drawn to your flares/chemlights so now you have to deal with both DMR toting NVG snipers as well as the hordes. 3)Vehicle spawns are an exercise in frustration because there's no indication as to whether it is actually fixable thanks to things not reporting correctly. Currently all helicopters even when marked as green for everything have unfixable fuel leaks. So if you get that nice helicopter filled up, you're going to crash inside of a minute because the fuel has leaked. 4)You implement a system that bans and punishes people for logging out to avoid dying, but then promote the use of the beta patch that removes the notification that people disconnected. You then state that a 5 second logout process will go towards addressing this. 5)The new debug forest has a horrendously high chance of spawning you in the desert or in the ocean if you have a non-survivor skin on (as several dozen bug report threads can attest to). 6)You have no mechanism to actually track who spawns in hacked weapons to be able to ban them unless somebody kills them. You additionally have no set weapons list that everyone, including the forum moderators, can look at and go "YES THIS IS A HACKED WEAPON.", so new players are left wondering if they're going to be banned for using whatever new gun they managed to pry from the hands of grizzled veterans with their trusty Makarov. 7) As it stands you have server admins repeatedly resetting their servers to make sure their precious tent and vehicle cities aren't being raided. 8) Repeatedly respawning causes you to get the PVP timer and pass out for 3 minutes. What fun. You're essentially removing all of the actual fun out of the game in the everincreasing pursuit of "realism", and it's showing in the utter lack of objectives or things to do in Day Z beyond bean wars or fixing cars that don't respawn. Couple the possibility of not spawning with a weapon with the increased zombie vision and responsiveness and you're going to decrease the average player life to below 10 minutes. The difficulty curve for the early game should be high, but it shouldn't be a sheer cliff.
