    The PvP Discussion Thread

Bandit and non-bandit styles of play should be balanced. It is only interesting to play either role because the other one exists. It is ok for the game to have bandits, it is not ok for the game to have only bandits. My suggestion would be to make one's humanity visible to others. So people would be getting at least some indication of who is who.

[GUIDE] City Sized Maps - WIP

Sorry, for a noobish question, how can I get inside the hospital in Chernogosk? Through the roof?
  4. I think it may add to the gameplay if one's humanity was visible to other players, when pointing aim.
  5. Here is my issue with the increased zombie count and decrease of spawn time. I play solo and prefer living off smaller villages away from the coast. Do not hunt people. I just came to the conclusion that for this style of play no weapons except PM and a crossbow are feasible. There is no use to them. Well, maybe there are some low-noise military guns that would be good too (I have not tried all of them yet), but I disregard them because they are too rare and cannot be counted on being acquired on a regular basis. If respawn rate was smaller, there would also be use for sniper rifles, because then I could take luxury of spending time clearing some of the area from a distance. But as it is, knowing that if I do so, I won't have enough time left for looting by the time z's respawn again - I just don't bother with rifles. Yesterday was the first time when finding an assortment of rifles in a barn didn't get me excited, to my surprise. I had a crossbow with no arrows left and actually decided not to swap it for any of the available ammo-accompanied rifles, so useless they are. Same goes for PM - the best handgun now is the most silent one. I am no longer tempted to change it for 1911 or a revolver. This is not a complaint, just a statement of how the new zombie count changed this aspect of gameplay for me. The game remains to be a lot of fun, although the joy of finding better weapons is no longer a part of it, for my style of play.

    DayZ and Basic Human Nature

Well' date=' IRL a lot will be doing it for lulz too. And not necessarily exactly that lot, who do it in-game. [/quote'] I really doubt that alot will be doing it IRL. Imagine it. People who have lost their family, their friends, have no one else to help them. Their life is in constant danger. But hey nothing a good laugh can't fix. Where's that rifle? Yes there would be hostile encounters, theft, robbery, assault; don't doubt that for a second. But mindlessly killing people is something alot of people would not do. People get accustomed to any situation they appear in, to the point they perceive it as "normal". Even the most terrible disaster would eventually stop being perceived as an "emergency state" and become a routine. And then people will start looking for "lulz". You are right, there will be not "a lot" maybe in relative figures, but much more "a lot" than seems possible for a modern society. I've actually seen people whose concepts of "fun" were so far away from mine, that I just wouldn't be sure... Especially some near-twenties' teens.

  8. Kirvin, even if you are successful in making other players friendly to you, what you will achieve is bandits using you as a decoy attracting easy targets. Eventually this will again result in your services being unpopular and/or your location becoming a known PvP playground and you'll end up being a doctor for the survivors in that PvP. :)
  9. Sigh. I tried to climb the deerstand. Fell down without managing to enter it. Rinsed, repeated. Died.
