Do you kill players hiding in a church?
Fryseboks replied to Archert2's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The entrance to the second barracs on my favourite server is blocked with barbed wire. You cannot even remove it with a toolbox, because the middle pole (the one you have to perform the action on) is literally inside the wall. I tried for 10-20 mins to find an angle to remove it. -
.50 cal ammo no longer replenishes after you logout.. but STANAG still does
Fryseboks replied to oleg86@msn.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Also, the revolver/M1911 has a curious ammo bug/exploit. When you convert a magazine either way, it is full regardless if you converted a mag with 1 or 7 shots left. That combined with one shot body kills on zombies makes the .45ACP guns the best sidearms out there. -
Anyone?

Invisible hacker gave me stuff, how should I get rid of it?
Fryseboks replied to Kegan187's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Time to camp cherno now, and snipe hatchet noobs while alt+f4'ing if anything remotely dangerous is heading your way and server hopping like a boss. -
Does sixlauncher update this for you? I seem to still be on 95054 or 95099, at least no updates since yesterday. Been having some performance issues, especially in cities, and I am eager to see if there is any difference with the new build.

I found that you lose temperature at the same rate as you would swimming while driving a boat. Also the slow speed makes you very vulnerable :(

Ghillie suits won't help you cook meat on a fireplace anyway, this is a good game design reducing overall server stress load.

Tents, tents everywhere as far as the eye can see...
Fryseboks replied to AnonDayZ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In case you did not know, entering and navigating around a self replicating tentville with barbed wire everywhere is the endgame so many people are asking about. -
I started playing this 2 days ago. The first few hours were amazing. I joined a real time server in the evening, the sun was gradually sinking and it became darker. I spent hours trying to loot the small villages, carefully observing the zombies and sneaking around. It was very immersing and atmospheric, and I felt very vulnerable and defenseless. I didn't find a weapon until several deaths and hours later. Now just two days later, I figured out that it's really not a problem being chased by zombies at all. I can run like a headless chicken into cherno or elektro, and easily lose all the zombies in the first building I find. Within 10 min of spawning if it's close to either cities, I will typically have already found a gun and some supplies due to learning where to loot, granted some other survivor far away on some overlooking hill don't send a friendly .50 cal to greet my face. In short, zombies do not feel like a threat at all anymore, more like a nuisance you have to spend 1-2 more extra minutes losing. First of all, the zombies need to be able to run in buildings. I understand this might be a technical problem, and this an alpha afterall, but it's simply too easy to lose them anywhere near a building with two doors right now. The zombies should probably be beefed up a little, taking several assault rifle shots to the body before dying and maybe also doing more damage to the player on every hit. There should definately be more much more of them in the two cities, and I think adding random stragglers walking in the woods would be a good idea too. In addition to this, the audible range of guns should be increased a lot. The zombies in DayZ is said to have elevated hearing and smell compared to a human, but worse sight. I know nothing of guns in real life, but in a desolate rural post-apocalyptic area like Chernasus which is dead silent, would I not be able to hear someone firing a gun even 500-1000m away? I think increasing the audible range of most weapons in addition to stragglers in the woods and just a much higher general amount of deadlier, indoors-running zombies would drastically change how players interact compared to right now, with everyone killing on sight and all. There would be real consequence to firing your weapon pretty much any place, especially in a city and if you are alone. Strolling down the main street in cherno solo popping noobs wearing hatchets wouldn't be possible at all, even in military grade gear. Looting a city effectively would require teamwork of several people, cooperating and not backstabbing each other. Of course the option for banditry and backstabbing would still be there, but it would be very high risk as it in my opinion should be solo in a city. Weapons like the crossbow and silenced weapons would become very attractive. All in all I think beefing up the zombies would increase the replayability and community spirit a lot.

Make zombies a real, persistent threat
Fryseboks replied to Fryseboks's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Beefing up the zombies would encourage that. -
Same. Just updated. no servers are running the build.

THIS CANT BE TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!

Can people hear VOIP when they are knocked out? Because if they can, I might start to purposely knock people out, play this for 30 seconds then finish them off. -
Paranoia, at least for me. I recently joined so I was not part of global chat, but it would've definately not made me shoot people that I deem a threat (pretty much everyone heading remotely where I am heading and having a gun). After getting fucked over by two people when trading (I had an M16, they had one hatchet inbetwen them. They asked for food, I told them I'd trade them for soda. I traded with the unarmed guy. This was on top of the fire station building on the airstrip near cherno. After the trade I continued down the stairs. Near the entrance where the stairs begin and you can hide under the first stair, the guy with the hatchet was waiting for me and cleaved me down. I can see attraction to that, considering I had decent items and they had nothing. However since we brokered the trade on microphone and he sounded trustworthy, I did not think it would happen) I got extremely lucky on my new spawn. Found a dead guy in elektro with an alice pack full of all supplies needed, an enfield with 5 mags, m1911 with 5 mags, as well as every tool you need to hunt and cook food and navigate, and then proceed to run like hell into the forest. Now that I can sustain myself I avoid people and cities and try to scavenge remote barns/deer stands. However earlier today when trying to fill my canteen in the pond above elektro I saw a guy running with 2 zombies chasing him. He had a gun. Out of range from direct communication (what is the range anyway? 100m?), I proceed to shoot after him with my enfield out of pure paranoia (missed all shots anyway) and then run like hell in the opposite direction. Earlier before finding said body I also killed an unarmed person out of paranoia. Heard someone moving in the upper floor of the building and down towards the stairs where I waited behind the corner, shot him before I saw he was unnarmed. Felt a little bad about it later (He didn't die at first either, only knocked out from a point blank enfield round. Took 10 seconds before I realized, and even while in possession of an epi-pen I decided to shoot him again in stead), but what if he had been armed? That second of me hesitating and seeing if he was armed could've meant death if he was. With global communication both those incidents could've probably have been avoided. In short, I've realized that with the current situation it's nerve-wrecking to be a lone wolf once you get decent equipment. Should probably find some people to play regularly with, and not trust anyone else :P

I basically have the same setup as you, just a OC'd GTX570 and an Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.8GHz (stock) in stead, which should even put me significantly above in performance. In the wilderness it seems to be fine (haven't checked actual fps) but sometimes it seems to dip into 30's. This is with post-proccessing off, HDR on normal, 1920x1080, and everything else on high. Over time it decreased, until I reboot the game again. However in cherno/elektro it gets down to like 20-30 and keeps decreasing the longer I am there, making it pretty much unplayable. When I run out into the wilderness again performance is decreased until I reboot the game. Lowering video settings does not help. Every other game performs well (Playing BF3 on high/ultra with pretty much steady 40-60fps), but I just can't seem to get stable performance on this. If some of you guys who have performance adequate for your hardware could post your entire .cfg file and say what modifications you've done if any, I would be grateful.

I recently installed this mod without any problems. Running everything fine on very high @ 1920x1080, with textures/models/objects etc all on very high. Operation flashpoint also works fine. Specs: Intel Core i7 860 stock clocked 2.8GHz GTX570 factory clocked @ 800/1600/2000 Mhz 8GB RAM, 1333MHz However, after playing for 1-2 hours, the framerate gets progressively worse. Also the GPU fan is at a really high RPM most of the time playing. Simply restarting the game fixes this, but it's obviously a bit annoying. Lowering video settings doesn't seem to help much either. I only have 30GB free on my C harddrive, could that be an issue?

Douchebag players everywhere I go...
Fryseboks replied to Fearmewalkers's topic in New Player Discussion
Do not trust people. If you see someone and they have not communicated to you in any way, shoot that guy before he shoots you. This especially applies in places like cherno/elektro. Also if you're rocking pretty much anything better than a hatchet, people you don't know WILL backstab you for your weapons and supplies. I trusted two hatchet wearing guys today, even gave them food because they were short and asked. Got cleaved down in the hallway later. -
Running around in the small towns etc and hunting barns, I can play this almost maxed out fine. However in cherno I get like 10-20fps, even with low settings. My rig isn't fantastic, but it should definately be enough to run this game smooth (then again Arma 2 engine is weird, but cmon, 20fps on low settings?) Specs: Intel Core i7 860 2.8GHz GTX570 @ 800/1600/2000MHz 8GB ram, 1333MHz Is there some performance tweaks I must do? Pretty much unplayable when I'm trying to score canned beans in cherno. Thanks in advance for helpful advice :)

Motivation for being a bandit?
Fryseboks replied to DergSterg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I met two guys on top of the radio tower on the airfield close to cherno. One of them had a hatchet, the other was unnarmed. They told me over mic "friendly, don't shoot please we are unnarmed. We need a can of beans". I traded the unnarmed guy a can of food for a soda. Now guess what happens when I'm walking down the stairs again? The second guy with the hatchet hid under the stairs while I traded the other. On my way out later, hatchet in the back, dead. I will never trust random people again. -
Horrible performance in cherno/electro
Fryseboks replied to Fryseboks's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Well glad it at least isn't only me. Pretty annoying, and it seems to get worse and worse the longer I am in there. If I enter and then leave the place, the performance is in the woods is also lowered until I reboot the game. -
Horrible performance in cherno/electro
Fryseboks replied to Fryseboks's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yeah I will do that now. Do you also have the same problems as me? Not that being in cherno is enjoyable anyway, but I'd like to leaat st have a pretty framerate if I am feeling suicidal. I can run Battlefield 3 on high/ultra with 40fps+ on this rig, hoping for similar performance here shouldn't be too much :( -
Getting weapons I've figured out pretty nice now. However I'm way too often dangeriously low on food or liquids, running around all the time desperate to find a can/soda. Today I had to resort to shooting a guy only wearing a hatchet in the face over a soda, I am really sorry dude but I was losing blood from dehydration and that soda saved my life :( The hunting option is also there. Right now I have a hunting knife and a hatchet. Where is the easiest place to get matches? Also a canteen would probably be smart. In short, where is the best type of buildings/towns to loot canteens/matches and cans/sodas?

1920x1080 resolution. Tried adjusting pretty much every video option, didn't help much. -
My heroic story ends in cherno, character probably 10 in game hours old. Best so far, started playing this yesterday. I had actually aquired relatively decent gear (GPS, AK-74 Cobra with 6 mags, Czech Backpack) but had nothing to sustain myself and was constantly living off the next soda and food can I could find. 15 minutes prior to my death I committed a murder. While sneaking out in the woody hills behind cherno, two guys opened fire on each other. I watched from a distance. When the other guy went over to loot his target, I shot him from 70-80m away. Figured he would kill me just as easily as the other guy. My death was extremely anti-climatic. While crouching around a corner trying to get to a store 50m away to secure some food, a sniper bullet hit me.

So after crawling around in a smaller village for 2 hours, only to find different ammo for pretty much every weapon but no actual weapons, and then breaking my legs (I had no morphine either) from crawling through a doorway, I'm wondering if maybe just running straight into one of the big towns and then try to get away fast is a better approach then playing in the grass for ages? What do you pro people out there do when you start over again to quickly get some supplies and weapons?
