Throw us a kit to set up our own servers with our own character databases and our own rules. I love managing servers, but I hate the public community, and I also would never want to host a server for DayZ as is due to having to be bound by rules that tell me how I should host a server rather than how I am comfortable. I post because as it is, I think the way that DayZ servers are set up is flawed. Server hopping is very common, immersion breaking, and people can just alt-f4 and get away from a fire fight scott-free. In addition, hosting a DayZ server is like paying to work a part time job. You are hosting at your own expense but still forced to act as though you're the average player, just with some authority over disruptive folk. In the end as a host or administrator you are nothing but a waiter, and instead of receiving tips for your work you are giving the customers things for free. I don't want to cater to the common rabble if I were to host a server. I would want to cater to my own interests and the interests of the people I play with. But you can not do that with the current system, due to having to keep the doors open for all the commoners to barge in and muck things up. I enjoy pre-planned events, faction organization, and such things but that becomes impossible when hosting the server forces you to cater to the vast majority rather than the small minority that I enjoy.

I was sitting in the shower room of the barracks in the airfield waiting for my friend to connect so we could continue. Somebody hopping servers and looting the barracks from server to server connects, shoots us both, then disconnects 5 minutes later. I quit. I'm not looking for any more crash sites. Not scavenging any more buildings. I quit. Too many people shoot first and ask questions later. I really wish I could just have my own passworded server so I could avoid shit like this. Peace. I give up on DayZ.

Thhat's why it's an analogy and nothing more. I wasn't comparing DayZ to a paid for product. I was comparing the replies accepting server hopping as a feature and putting blame on victims of server hopping to the parties mentioned in the analogy. Oh, and I repeat as in every post in one way or another. You're all retarded, know nothing of the development process you use to defend your arguments, and haven't actually read past the title of the thread most likely.

Definately my fault that the game is set up in such an easily exploitable way. I am a noob and should be punished for in my noobish ways, it is my fault that people can exploit a fatal flaw in the system to have an advantage over people who refuse to take such routes. 90% of the replies to this thread come from illiterate and biased simplefolk.

This seems to be what replies to this thread are trying to get across: FORUM RULEZ (SUPER SRS GAIZ) 1) You may compliment the game and love it and give the devs all your love. 2) Criticism is not allowed. Without criticism nothing advances. If nobody criticized subjects their flaws would not be fixed or quality increase. I guess you all want to see DayZ never advance.

I've already abandonned all hope on official servers ever being worth attention. I will if I play again.

Hon, I have been gaming since I could hold a controller up. Your problem is that you've played on the wrong servers, not that this is a bad idea. Honestly, I think that my utter hatred for ignorance and stupidity have driven me to cannibalism over what I've seen on the DayZ forums. I guess you enjoy the chaos that is currently because you can show no restraint running about gunning everybody down and getting away with fuckever because the server administrators can't enforce any sort of ruleset or they risk losing their server privelages. A lot of DayZ's newer audience seems to hate the idea of being held by any rules that prevent them from running willy nilly murdering everybody. I really miss the DayZ of yesteryear when finding a survivor meant having a quaint conversation and possibly becoming homies in killing Bandits together. Who are you to say that all servers are run by corrupt and inept admins? Joseph fucking Stalin? I've run great servers where we don't just give friends the advantage. We set up organized factions with ranking and had a fun time. I'd also like to point out, that I'd enjoy the incorporation of a radio system like ACRE into DayZ but that's impossible as it is.

This is why I post. I really would like a more orderly server with factions officially supported by the administrators. Say a group of players claims a building as being their sort of headquarters. They set up tank traps and wire fencing, but say, the server crashes or somesuch and those setups are lost. Well they're shit out of luck the admins can't help them in any way or they risk losing their rights to host a DayZ server. In addition hosting a server unbound by the restrictions of the server hosting as it is opens up the ability for server hosts to possibly to add elements to the map. We could end up going to places other than Chernarus if administrators were allowed to be independent of other servers and have full control over their servers.

Probably just ArmA 2 with ACE and the other games I play on the side.

This thread should come as a clear signal for the community to do some soul searching. Your ignorance, bias, and overall inability to recognize a system as being completely unforgivably broken shows how flawed many of you are deep down. Your blind love for DayZ is bringing out the worst in you all. I've seen flame trains on 4chan more sophisticated than this. It's sad. Nothing more. You try to prove a point that it was the victims fault that the system is flawed. Imagine if this was a trial in a courtroom. A company is being sued for a flawed product causing harm to somebody. It wouldn't be a very intelligent arguement if the company decided to say "Well it's their fault for using our product.". Nobody is at fault here except for the product, or rather in this case people exploiting the flaw in the product. In the end though. This is the internet. Everybody is retarded on the internet.

Because clearly I was a sitting duck when I was well embedded in cover, gun pointed at the only enterance to the room, simply waiting for a friend to connect to the server. It's my fault that people can server hop and alt-f4 to escape clearly. I made no error. Anybody entering the building I could have killed, but this guy spawned behind me in the room I was waiting in. I'm honestly just staying on the forums now to fan the flames. Most of you are defending a disastrously flawed and shitty system that should be on the high priority list to be fixed. I fear however that there is no real way to fix this issue because of how the ArmA 2 engine works.

The problem isn't that I died. It's that people are able to server hop around with no penalty at all. I had my back to the wall, anybody running in and opening the door would have gotten 30 rounds in the chest. But because this jackass was server hopping, he was able to spawn in behind me and kill me, and then when my friend finally loads in and opens fire on him while he's looting the barracks, he disconnects out. This mod is pretty fucked. I'm going back to ACE until something prevents people from server hopping and alt-f4 bailing.
