Need help with sound (VERY dampened)
Lamethrower replied to Drunz's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Would by any chance do you have low blood? I always lose hearing when being beaten half to death. I did notice however that it sometimes goes back to normal after changing server. -
Doppelganger / clone every login
Lamethrower replied to PK Richie's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Video very related. -
Should be able to fill cans with fuel and create large fires to burn down houses, create fire traps etc. Imagine baiting someone with an axe and just standing there with a smug look as you drop a flare into a pool of fuel where the chaser is.

How often do items respawn in dayz
Lamethrower replied to Brutal-Hunter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think I prefer having areas that are cleaned out not respawning very often. It makes loot a little more valuable and seem more like a real world situation. I mean, gear does not just randomly appear all the time in the real world but it still has to eventually to keep the game going. Perhaps the 24 hour restart would be similar to people camping in houses and leaving remains or something... -
I just did some searching and found this video, it might help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIxNLcPyvEA&

Got killed, respawned with an hourglass.
Lamethrower replied to Dynami's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I recently had this problem. I solved it by essentially leaving it there on the hourglass until my character starved/dehydrated to death. Once I got the death screen I hit respawn and clicked abort and rejoined. Started a new character now however it's not the greatest fix in the world as it takes what seems like forever to die. I would leave it on overnight or something. -
Leave your character in debug land till you die...

FPS Drops during Live Streaming
Lamethrower replied to avalontreman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hmm this is interesting. Perhaps you can set the arma exe to have a higher CPU time priority than XSplit and see if it smooths things over on DayZ a little. The quality and stability of your stream may be affected though. -
FPS Drops during Live Streaming
Lamethrower replied to avalontreman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well that's good. At least we know what is happening for most part. All we need to do it figure out why. Try download something like game booster and turn off everything you don't really need. It's possible a background process is chewing up some CPU time every now and then or just keep an eye on the process list and wait for the spike. -
Take a look at this article. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html I can't really give my own opinion as I have not really researched the latest cards since my last upgrade which was a while back now (in terms of technology.)

FPS Drops during Live Streaming
Lamethrower replied to avalontreman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Perhaps leave task manager + GPU-Z or any other resource monitoring programs in the back ground and run your stream. See if there is any significant spikes when it slows down. -
FPS Drops during Live Streaming
Lamethrower replied to avalontreman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It seems to be picking up the CPU graphics chip. Do you have the nvidia drivers installed? Your nvidia chip may even be disabled in the BIOS settings as well. -
If you were going to upgrade all of it, you could always upgrade the GPU first and try it out to see if the other components even need upgrading as it seems to be probably main bottleneck of the system currently.

FPS Drops during Live Streaming
Lamethrower replied to avalontreman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Specs would probably help. Did this start happening randomly or has it been since you started streaming at all? -
I was just posting in a thread where the person had a Radeon HD6450 and they were still having issues (100% gpu usage.) I would probably say at least upgrade your GPU. Would not hurt to give it a shot though.
-
If you have another video card you can perhaps borrow from someone else to test in your system would be a sure way to rule out any other issues. Would give you an idea of the juice required from a new card if you were going to get one.
-
Sorry for the slow replies, I'm currently at work. I would say that if your GPU is being cranked at 100% usage the entire time that it is probably the bottleneck in your system. If your CPU is not under high load (which it should not be based on the model) then it would probably be time to upgrade to a better GPU or add in a second GPU. I would also set your video memory in game to "default" as this will utilize the maximum amount of memory on the card. Is it possible you can give a screen shot of the artifacting? It may help determine if it is a software or hardware issue.

Based on the log file you provided. It seems that it is not a temperature problem which is a good thing. I did notice that the GPU usage is spiking to 100% and then back down to 0% which is possibly when you were alt tabbing back and forward but if this is happening in game then it could be a different issue. Did you have a look at your CPU usage at all during the test?
-
Just open it up, switch to the sensors tab and let it run in the background. Open up DayZ and play for a while (or until you can't play lol) and then switch out and see how the temperatures etc look. Post some results if you can.
-
Download and run GPU-Z. The utility should let you monitor your GPU temperatures. As it is happening soon after entering the game it could possibly be a thermal issue. As it heats up, more artifacts come into play. Download link: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2157/TechPowerUp_GPU-Z_v0.6.4.html

Would This Computer Run DayZ Smoothly
Lamethrower replied to TheDayZNewbie's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I've been running on a reasonably high end system with mostly smooth frame-rates. Arma by itself runs fine pretty much maxed out but DayZ still has problems in main cities but at least it will give you an idea of performance. (Running all high settings Ambient occlusion off, 2xAA, 1080p res v-sync forced off.) Get about 55-65 fps in empty areas and has slowed down to as low as 10-15fps in cities but seems to happen mostly after a long time of playing which is most likely due to optimization issues. Specs: i7 950 @ 3.1 GHz 12GB GDDR3 @ 1333MHz 2 x 560Ti @ reference clocks (for stability) 2 x Force series 3 SSD (Raid 0) 2 x WD CB 1TB (Raid 0) Temperatures are always within acceptable ranges and average loads are 65% on CPU with 35% on GPUs. -
Try game booster. http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html Probably not going to give you a huge increase but if you are trying anything it wouldn't hurt. I've heard manually forcing Ambient occlusion, V-sync and even phyX to be turned off for the arma II profile in the nvidia control panel sometimes increases FPS. I can vouch for the Ambient occlusion but I have not tried the other two.

Would upgrading the parts on my Laptop help with my gameplay?
Lamethrower replied to griffbird's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Basically the same thing as +1 or thumbs up because beans are so valuable and delicious. :P -
Would upgrading the parts on my Laptop help with my gameplay?
Lamethrower replied to griffbird's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It looks like the best way to go. Keep in mind that a $1000PC will usually get you much more performance than a $1000Laptop but it never hurts to have extra horse power anyway.
