Watchman, in game name also. Veteran of Arma 1 & 2 and playing DayZ almost from the start. UK based but play on which ever servers have players on. Having lost countless lives trying to hook up with clan mates I'm now pursuing the lone-wolf survivor life and enjoying every minute.

My first was Saturday, investigating the apartment blocks on the outskirts of Cherno. I was going room to room when I hear a Zed, get him with my hatchet & loot the room, move to the next & as I step through the door there's a guy lying down, he takes 1 or 2 shots, breaking my leg but I manage to axe him. Thankfully on searching the body I fine morphine to fix the leg break & several other goodies. I suffered a lot of blood loss but the satisfaction at surviving was immense. When I check my stats turns out he was a bandit, even better!

Alternatively, look for servers in other parts of the world that are in daylight hours. I'm UK based but my clan have a US east coast server, so roughly 5 hours behind, real time. If I'm online at 10pm the server time is around 5pm, so still in daylight. Even with a 140+ ping I'm still getting playable fps, so no performance issues.

For me it's the numpad enter key and I haven't re-mapped keys, so it must be the default.

Foolishly explored green mountain yesterday and had to deal with 7 or 8 in the end, the double barrel shoty was faultless. All single shot kills with the furthest maybe 10 metres away. So not the weapon in my opinion, definitely sounds lag related.

I've been shot, KoS, 3 times now. Enough to piss me off and turn me in to a killer? Not quite but it's not helping my general frustration with the mod. Thankfully I've been playing Arma since release and play with a good group of guys, which has tempered my approach to trying to be freindly. However, I had one situation where I was in a bad way, in need of meds & food. I figured I was not long for the DayZ world when I spot a guy, follow him for a while, wait until I can get close enough to take a kill shot and empty my makarov into him. Looted the body to find food, meds & ammo enough to get me back to a better state. Didn't feel guilty at first but then a little later wondered if a call for help might have got me what I needed? That was maybe 2 weeks ago now and after the intervening sessions, my faith in humanity has dropped to a level where I seriously doubt I'd not do the same again in that situation, guilt free.
