    Loot: Mysterious and Unpredictable

This is a nice idea, good sir! I like the idea of random spawns at random times in random regions, it gives you the incentive to move which we all know is the motive for the walking simulator ^^. But I would not suggest longer terms of respawn in starting locations, because if you die you will begin there and we all know how easy it is in the game to die. It already is troublesome enough if you start and you were the last in line and you run through the vicinity and there is already nothing left. But in general i would agree with this idea. Especially if you think of the server load, This could rectify it. As a side note: Loot (and Zombies) shouldn't spawn right beside you. That really feels odd, but 50 meters of airline-distance could do the trick, because most stuff spawns inside houses and not in the fields.

    The value of a character

Yes, Rocket said something like that in a DevBlog vid, but we can make suggestions how it could be implemented. Don't forget we are alpha testers :D

    The value of a character

I'm not really comfortable about learning through books. Yes it is the common thing in RPGs to level your character but it has not much to do with real work. I could accept that you are limited to a certain amount of traits, but I am totally sure that you would play different if you had more to lose than just your gear. What i also would propose for the ability you spawn with is, that it is random. So you can't just kill yourself because your buddy needs an engineer right now. For the grinding aspect: I think there are some lines of code that for example hinder you to just shoot you friend in the leg in order to learn how to bandage better and so on.

You're definitely right. but that isn't that bad. Except fot those with small line of patience ^^

    The value of a character

The key feature of my idea is that you have a set of abilities like: sniper, hunter, farmer, engineer and a lot more. Say for instance 25. I don't think that you should be limitted in gathering new abilities. But, you only have one ability of those when you're a fresh spawn. You are only able to learn a trait from another player. So first priority is to stick to gether. The fact that there is always players who prefer pvp and players who have a more social approach at games makes this just more appealing, if you ask me. ;) But not only you have traits but there are tiers within them. Say I-V. You always start with one and you cannot perform any related action if you don't have the perk/trait/skill that belongs to it. You only can advance by performing related actions. Tiers: I: you will most certainly botch the thing you try. (20% chance of success) II: Not that bad, but you are still not the king of the hill. (40% cos) III: You are better than average. (60% cos) IV: Not many are as good as you. (80% cos) V: Mastery - what ever this means. (100% cos) AND REMEMBER! All is gone if your character dies. So be aware! And I would bet money that after acquiring the first or second trait you try to protect the life of your precious character at any cost. Because you invested time in a unique set. tl;dr: Skills and tiers for not wasting any character, because you invested time in this specific one.

"There are some things you'll need to already have under your belt when the apocalypse rears its ugly head. You're not going to just magically know everything." Find the perk idea almost brilliant! My beans to you, good sir! :beans: But you also should evolve. Learn something new with this ONE character that you play. And here is why: At the beginning you have only one profession e.g. hunter. (He knows how to build traps for deer) Yes you can push a giant rock down the hill - but even if you hit, there is most certainly not much intact of the animal. Ever tried meat with a melt-rupture?!? The real benefit of learning is that a character becomes worthy. You don't want to start all over again with everything at zero but your primary skill. This gives even bandits a reason to think, because right now they are the only 'faction' whose life is TOTALLY worthless, because the body is just a vehicle to carry their gear.
  8. not necessarily if you look at all the vids people forcing others to do weird stuff
  9. Morale or however you call it is a great thing! I just had the messages blinking up on my screen "I feel lonely" "Cold beans ... not again!" "A chat would be nice" ""sigh!" (onomatopoeic)
  10. What a load of unqualified blah! The DayZ SA is declared as an MMO no matter what exact genre it is - fantasy, scifi, zombie etc. I don't like the idea of game set factions like sith and jedi, thats why i soon quitted dayz wasteland. But the official trailer declares it as an MMO, so it can be compared with those on the market. The first and last MMO i ever played was ultima online. And i would like to be DayZ as complex as this game was. And as the trailer also says: 'It's your story' so make the best out of it
  11. Hi everyone! First of all I totally adore the game. When i read the first article about DayZ-Mod on rockpapershotgun.com, I was electrified by the possibilities of this game. So I bought ARMA X to play the Mod. It was great fun. But as 20CC said it lacked of an aim. It became repetitive. At last, if you had an helicopter to scavenge for heliwrecks (because you could be almost sure to be the first at the spot, because of your airsuperiority) Soon you had not just the heli but 2 Ural some UAZ and lot's of stuff to maintain them. "Hell ya! we got tents for spare parts, food and guns" But that was it ... At least on first sight! Because the game had something I hadn't experienced in any other games before and it happened right here in the forums. Soon the first, if you want so, guilds arose from the abyss of the DayZ-Forum. People started to use the forum as some kind of meta-space. They arranged trades for items or medical support. Maybe some of you heard of 'The trusted medics of the wasteland' (http://tmwdayz.com) Which could be seen as a guild of some sort. By the way, if someone of tmwd reads this - is there a European branch? I like you guys and appreciate your work! Back to the topic: Imho there shouldn't be AI-guilds that you can join - players are better than any script, because they are creative! Let players rebuild the world. Make the world evolveable. Is it too ambicious to place (work)shops in the vicinity? From a progammers stand you just have to create the entity 'gunsmith', 'grocery_store', or 'cornfield'. Let the players use the environment to create. And let them reap what they saw! Imagine the dynamics that can evolve in gameplay ... IMAGINATIONLAND Joe says:"Let us burn down their crops" ... just think about it! The game MUST be complex! i explicit don't say hard! You can have a trillion different worlds and timetravel between them. I don't mean abusive serverhopping btw. ;) These are just my thoughts and I hope them to be promoted. And even if I don't share any of 20CC's thoughts they are a thousand time worthier than most stuff you read. Like you need to put that gun in the game and such. So far let us all hope that the final version of the game is at least a 50% of what we expected :P

    Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113860

You are absolutely right! Why extra punish someone who is arlerady punished, like being unconscious or cuffed. You are literally bound. What is wrong with getting away from the game and come back whenever you have the time
  13. Has anyone noticed this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vklOq6KFQy4 Seems quite a great enhancement of movement possibilities!

    ARMA 2 SMK Animations

i was just impressed how much is possible in terms of movement. so spread the word and let's hope that something similar will arise of it
  15. Hi there, i need some (as many as i can get) bear traps. PM me if you like to trade. I'll see what i can bare. THX in advance!
  16. elLoCo

    need bear traps

we got a bandit camp around and we want to think them about how it is getting ripped off when you expect it the least ....
  17. So far so bad ... firstly: The artifacts are still there!!! (You already know if you read the forum posts) made some nice screenshots in cherno, but no necessity to upload ... everybody loves them. But i found out if you change video mem size (usually I use highest option) to default, sometimes it makes things straight so I guess it has more to do with the mem management then the barbwire or dead bodies. This works for my budies as well (I got ATI they got NVIDIA) this is just a workaround and an anoying either! so @ dev-staff: Please follow this ldea it might be worth the effort. @ fellow victims of the death rays form hell please try this to verify that it is connected to memory usage of the game. secondly: the spawning issue: it seems if you switch servers which run different versions of the game and you log onto a server with 95883 afterwards, then you will spawn at the beach, which happened to me. From Airport to Kamenka how sad Hope this helps
  18. Also got spawned west of elektro. I was north of Stary when i logged off before update. Connected to a different server and was (luckily) still west of elektro. So at least no random spawning for now. Can't say anything about the artifact issue. But will tell after i'm near stary or cherno.

Hey there, notes pinned on walls, trees etc. would be a great idea immersing the experience! Imagine something like this: "beware traps/bandits in the area" It doesn't matter whether there is written bullshit or real helpful hints on it, it should just take time to write messages if you are really trying to do so it's your own risk. Degration of the note would be nice, too. You should also be able to destroy the notes if you like to. Kudos for the developers first time in a real long time a game gave me such an adrenaline and endorphine rush!
