Hive System - People are already server hopping

This is what I am waiting for. Personally I am not going to even bother with Balota Airfield, people are server hopping in that area like crazy. * Some spawn on the roof of the ATC * Some spawn on small green guard towers to scout the area in 3rd person while having a decent amount of cover. Yeah... I personally can't wait for the private / isolated servers. * I've hated the hive system since DayZ was first introduced.

How to identify Universal Voice Chat Users

Better question, why does the game have side-chat.

    Post Your Gear So Far

Hunting players has never looked so good!
  4. That is literally all you had to write really, and he is not the only one that is having this problem with motion sickness in 1st person. * There have been many other posts similar to it, we can only hope rocket will improve stability overall with the camera. No offense SMLE, but this might not even be tied with Muscular Dystrophy. As for getting motion sick, I'd say the absolute worst would be trying to ride a bicycle off-road in 1st person, yeah that is a bumpy trip...
  5. Thank you for answering the question, now we can start a discussion on better ground. Muscular Dystrophy , definition meaning "muscle failure". Now here is another question. * Since it sounds that your friend is doing fine playing with the third person camera, what is wrong if he is forced to play the first person camera?
  6. That is exactly what you did. If you are actually speaking the truth, then give the community a reason to believe you. * The very least you can tell us is the disease/disability. I am personally interested to hear of a disability that of which people can't play 1st person.
  7. I've never seen someone so desperate in trying to keep this exploitative mechanic, you sir have reached a new level of being low. * I've yet to hear of disability that can't allow players to play 1st person...
  8. I'd go with #2 * Remove TPV If you played the DayZ mod a while back, may I remind you how the community thought the game would die since rocket made the tough decision to remove "starter pistols". People would create doomsday threads constantly of how this will shift power to people killing new spawns and that it will be the end of DayZ. But alas, the game is going after a whole year. The same result would happen to removing the third person camera. If we supported #3 * Then we should expect servers such as "24/7 Day / 500+ cars / 100+ Heli / 10+ crash helis / custom military loot spawns etcetc" in DayZ standlone. - Choice is not always a better option.
  9. That would be why people are looking forward to the DayZ Standlone FoV slider.
  10. Does that even matter... Your going to die anyway due to being spotted by the 3rd person camera. * At-least your going to get a bullet from the front instead of the back, I guess.
  11. Explain by what you mean by the cover system? * I personally like the cover system by looking through the 1st person view, your not going to be standing in the middle of the tree in scouting an area. With the FPV, you are forced to expose your self to actually scout various areas. This is why I really appreciate the FPV in regards to DayZ, no longer can you use cheap tactics to overcome an enemy. As to cover any expose areas, I generally look around in FPV if I am not sticking anything through a wall or anything. So that should answer that question.
  12. Well rocket is already implementing this FPV mechanic, of which is fine really. It will reduce the campers on top of the various hospitals and the industrial buildings of Cherno. But the TPV while standing is still an on-going problem. * So to answer the question , No.

POLL: Dayz SA 1st person only

Don't worry you can still look over the concrete wall at the NWAF.
  14. Exactly that is the problem with a FPV/TPV compromise. * Remove the TPV and focus on more pressing issues. The only people that would be upset about the removal of the third person camera are those who exploit this tool in pvp. * As for the community saying that it builds character, it's funny joke.
  15. sobieski12

POLL: Dayz SA 1st person only

Actually I am sure that is the case. * The inability to exploit the 3rd person camera would prompt fair game-play. Explain how would it not.

POLL: Dayz SA 1st person only

There is no such thing as a "fixed TPV option" * No matter how you will try to adjust it, someone will find a way to exploit it. The removal of the TPV would prompt fair game-play rather than cheap game-play.
  17. I really don't understand why people are making this so difficult. Here is an idea, remove the 3rd person camera. Pros * Exploitative pvp combat gone. * Balanced gameplay. * A more immerse DayZ experience. Cons * The casual community crying on the forums.

What are you doing to the game we love?

I am not sure how well the community will respond to a difficult scenario in DayZ. The DayZ community overall is quite spoiled with how common military grade weapons are and how easy it's to obtain vehicles and helicopters. Back when on accident the zombies had a high chance of infecting players, the game-play changed quite drastically. Players of which didn't care about the patch simply ran into town would more than likely get infected, while the game rewarded players for being stealthy to actually avoid zombies. But alas the amount of crying forced the devs to revert this change... Now the question is... How will players react when the Standalone is much harder than the mod? Will rocket capitulate to the demands of the casual community?

What are you doing to the game we love?

Gamers point of view : I'd agree with you. Business point of view : I'd disagree with you. We can only hope that rocket will not be greedy.
  20. Well it's quite obvious why people prefer 3rd person servers, you get a ridiculous advantage over others player through the use of a cheap exploit. * I'd notice more people on 1st person servers if "Bohemia Interactive" could have introduced a FOV slider. - I personally started playing on the hardcore servers only until I changed my FOV, but it came with a compromise... I can no longer accurately use a DMR or Dragonov sniper rifle with my new FOV settings. As for saying "legitimate uses of 3rd person...". Sorry this is must be the funniest part of all the quotes he has given to the community. * His legitimate reason is that it builds character...lol Let me fix this for you rocket. * It's a legitimate tool in getting an absolute advantage on any enemy you encounter. If you suspect an enemy on the "NWAF" , continue to hug every tree and exploit the 3rd person camera till you find the target. If you need to approach your target even closer. Just use the 3rd person camera and hug the concrete wall and keep a good eye on anyone that might be around the south barracks or anyone that might hug a tree south-east of the hangers. I can keep on going in how to use this legitimate style of play but I'll just leave it there... As a conclusion, sure forcing first person view while going prone and crouch will help against those who camp on the hospitals or the high industrial buildings. But since your not planning to remove 3rd person camera and are going to continue to allow standing position players to exploit this tool. More and more players are just going to camp the forested areas around the various cities to utilize the most from the 3rd person camera.
  21. To be honest, I would not know since I don't buy perks for any server.

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

Good rig overall. I'd expect around 40 - 50 average FPS on populated servers. The only thing that is holding you back is the graphics card, which should at-least support 2 GB of V-RAM for 1080 resolutions. * If you had better GPU, I'd say you can reach 50 - 60 on average. * If your going to run a 1080 resolution your going to notice some small bottlenecking in the game. More than enough RAM for the system. Processor is good overall, it ain't the best but it's still good. * I personally ran a I7-920 at a stock clock of 2.90 Ghz and ran the game fine. But that was a while ago, today I use an I7-3770K at 4.2 Ghz.
  23. It's a step in the right direction but it will not remove the exploitable advantage of 3rd person. * From what he wrote it will counter all the players that are camping on top of the hospitals and the large buildings in cherno. But we still have the same old problems of the 3rd person camera in effect. * People can stand in trees being invisible to the enemy and using the 3rd person camera to scout, same concept can be applied to bushes. * People can stand and check corners for enemies. * People can stand and check over the concrete walls at "NWAF" for enemies entering or leaving the airfield. Like I said it's a step in the right direction, but he is seriously just making this harder for his team. * Just remove the 3rd person camera and the problem is solved...
