Server hoppers: A renewable resource.
sobieski12 replied to -DMG-Jonesy's topic in General Discussion
Legitimate reason probably only being server population. Other-wise people server hop for just about anything. * Food / Water * Guns * Medical supplies * Military Gear Why even bother to travel, when you can just server hop? -

Keep wishing, there is a reason that the private servers began to thrive over the public hive in the classic mod. * Better security - White-listed communities * Character locked servers - No more server hopping, no more ghosting. Unless the private hive has that option available. Of course as time progressed the private server began to spoil the community, but it still did better than the public hive. The timer will not the fix the problem, it's just slowing down the problem instead of just fixing it. -

Keep in mind that traveling takes about 30 min to an hour. * What is the better choice in getting better gear, travel for a long time or just wait for a timer. Not to mention the simple advantage of server hopping is not only to get better loot on the ground but you can also ambush another group of players doing the exact same thing. As for rocket implementing a timer that long, I am not quite sure. So far from what I've heard he has said that there will be a 15 min timer. Locking a character to a server will fix both server hopping and ghosting of which are both doing more damage to this game than the various bugs. -

Oh yeah, I am sure that will stop players from server hopping to other military bases... bahahahaha * Good joke +1  -

Actually the public hive as just been a source of various problems. * Server Hopping * Ghosting Are the two biggest problems that game currently faces. As for playing with your friends, the suggested idea in keeping your character locked to a specific server does nothing but make you start over on the beach. * Have you heard of the term, "Don't get attached to your gear". -
Where is everyone? NW Airfield not a hotspot anymore?

This is quite sad, but true. -
No need for this tool since third person will not be removed.

The most extreme way to have fun. http:// &feature=youtu.be

For death-matching players yeah it's pointless. For a role-player it's a very immersive experience.

Better question. * Why are you even on this forum? Are you poor?
-
Steam has probably made the game more popular. * Another title would be both "Path of Exile and Warframe".
-
But then again we are expecting mature audience. Oh the irony :P

Count the numbers of survivors. http://dayzgame.com/age-gate#.UrpArPRDveI Then multiply by 30. They could even made more by the supporter packs.

I can't wait when BI hires a massive team to support this on-going game, it's quite exciting. * DayZ has a massive amount of potential and the community does see it.
-
Well his goal is to add more than just looking for people to kill. * I'd say this is the right way to start.
-
Ok I'll admit it , this was on the bottom of his shoes.

Reading, quite rare in a video game.

Kill on sight... my group is doing it now

Third person view removal from SA discussion
sobieski12 replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
The final decision rests with rocket, of which btw already agrees with you. Rocket personally likes the mechanic in which he can see himself in the world, but then again rocket also said that he does not really like pvp and is not really associated with that discussion. If people like the cheap mechanic, be my guest. * Personally I am just disappointed that the 1st person servers where not introduced at launch. But then again rocket has multiple different problems. The Public Hive system * Server Hopping * Combat Logging * Death Logging * Private Server Looting * Dead Server looting * Loot respawn But o well, alpha is alpha. -
Third person view removal from SA discussion
sobieski12 replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
Well lets continue this scenario. On a 3rd person server you can easily scout your surroundings while being in heavy tree cover, no need to expose yourself until you need to kill. On a 1st person server you would need to expose your self to get a better view in your surrounding area, exposing your-self gives a fair chance for other players to spot you. -

No offense the last 10 players I've killed in cherno where all running, any better advice for them? -
Third person view removal from SA discussion
sobieski12 replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
Wrong, on the 1st person server you would need to stand or crouch on the edge of a tower of which you can be spotted and counter-sniped. * While on the 3rd person server you can stay prone and just wait for the right moment to go crouch and take the shot. * 3rd person camera exploiting 101 -
Third person view removal from SA discussion
sobieski12 replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
It took a while for the 3rd person community to defend the exploit. Any person on a roof top can exploit this camera and get an absolute advantage over another player. Which is quite funny because this is exactly what I am doing while I snipe players in cherno, do the players of which I am shooting at have a chance to spot me? Nope. * I've got a clear shot since I can abuse this camera and server system in never getting caught. Could I just continue to server hop and kill more players, well yes since this is the public hive at its best. I'll probably get flamed for this post, but the community needs to deal with reality. -
Just read this on the DayZ steam forums. * Another reason to remove the public hive and bring in isolated servers. - If there is a way to exploit , people will always do it.
