You might have a point there, atm on the experimental server. * Seems to be packed 50/50 24/7
-
What is this? * Metal Gear Solid?
-
A massive incentive to go in-land is missing. The quest to find "Helicopter Crashes". Other-wise heading to the various military bases, there is more than likely a server hopper that had beaten you to it.

Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?
sobieski12 replied to taco86's topic in General Discussion
Imagine if the arrows had curved thorns to prevent the victim from pulling it out, without massive tear damage. * Players would need serious field surgery for such hits. -
One handed bladed weapons ( Knives ), Too weak?
sobieski12 replied to preacherlr's topic in General Discussion
You're utilizing the weapon in the wrong way. The sporter is designed to torture players, not kill them. * Well game-play wise anyway. -
If you want exact times. * Listen from (44:15 – 44:41) http://www.twitch.tv/egx/b/514982641 44:24 “Bearing in mind” “Combine with our centralized loot economy. There might only be parts for that helicopter that you need on one particular server. So that’s where you are like “we need all these different parts to finish off our helicopter, we are going to have to go steal someone else’s from a server we know about” ^ If I didn't write his words exactly, due please correct my wording. The central loot economy just seems a reason to make server hopping even more popular, but tbh it already is. * Can't find a pair of NVG's in the NWAF? - Just server hop the next twenty servers, like the five minute timer is going to really stop players. It takes easily more than five minutes to reach any other military base area by foot. But as server hopping is atm, it's kinda sad that rocket supports this system... * Can't find food / basic gear in a town - Server hop the area. * Can't find parts to your vehicle at some industrial area - Server hop the area , just like the mod. * Can't find military gear at a base - Server hop the area.

Congrats in developing tunnel vision under the statement "server hopping" Server hopping is more than just looting dead servers. Any reason that a player feels the need to jump to another server from the one he is currently on is classified as server hopping. * Players can server hop on top of the industrial buildings in Cherno to kill 1 - 2 players and then move onto the next twenty servers, the same thing can be said about sniping from the apartments near balota airfield. * Players can server hop various industrial building to find parts for their vehicles, this works also with basic supplies and military areas. * Players can server hop random areas in the hopes to find players bases, this method of scouting a players base was quite common in the mod. Unless players actually started from the beach on a server and actually had to travel on foot to find a players base, without server hopping. I'd consider that a raid, but if players feel the need to invade other servers in order to obtain gear. It's just a pathetic example of server hopping. -

Another reason why the public hive is going to be useless. * What happens if you or your group fixes a vehicle on a specific server? You're more than likely going to stay on the specific server until rocket can make a feature to make vehicles teleport / transfer from server to server, of which will probably not happen. * What happens when you build tents on a specific server, you're dedicated to that specific server in storing your gear. What will people do to try to find your base / vehicles? * They will server hop, it's been done in the mod and it will be done again. - The only solution to this system is character bound servers. -

Thank you for listening to deans slideshow regarding the topic surrounding the "centralized loot" * The majority of people in this thread are just focused on the chopper instead of how limited the parts for the heli will be. -

Tbh, back in the mod. The chances of finding a player base on the north border on any server was quite common. * Server hopping is just a simple advantage that players can exploit. Just wait till deans implements a way to store items, the numbers will skyrocket. -

I am just stating of what I heard and trying to confirm of what he said. * Thus I am asking anyone to correct my wording from rocket if I made any mistake. I am not surprised people will come to rockets defense, it's to be expected. I am sure you can filter my name under "Anti-Public Hive movement" on the DayZ forums. -

Didn't find it on the search, go ahead and find me the topic if you know. Private hives only exist in the mod. * Any attempted private hive is still part of the official public hive. -

Let me quote the exact words from dean hall. 44:24 “Bearing in mind” “Combine with our centralized loot economy. There might only be parts for that helicopter that you need on one particular server. So that’s where you are like “we need all these different parts to finish off our helicopter, we are going to have to go steal someone else’s from a server we know about” Those are rockets words, aka server hop to find the parts to your heli -

While it's fun for you, for me it's just stupid. If my group of four players clears an area out of enemies. Players shouldn't be able to just appear on a random tower / bush to begin death-matching. But then again that is the public hive in a nutshell. -

sobieski12 replied to sobieski12's topic in General Discussion
No I am sure he mentioned a different server entirely, not the same server. Might I also suggest re-watching the idea around the "central loot economy" * He plans to add a limited amount of items in the hive. An example would be a limited number of NVGs * The server that some random player is paying for might not even spawn a NVG due to the NVGs being spread across thousands of servers. - Thus you must server hop to find a pair. -

Server hopping has gotten worse. (actuall analysis, not a whine thread)
sobieski12 replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
5 min will do nothing. What will happen once they add vehicles and a storage system? * Going to try to hide the car / storage on the "north or west borders", don't bother people will server hop to find it. (Just like the classic mod) While on a character bound server, people would actually have to travel and find your vehicle and base. Server hopping takes 3 min Traveling around the map takes hours. ------- As for full servers.... just wait for available slots... lol * Somehow the PC gaming community has managed to deal with full servers for the past couple of years. -

Whats wrong with squad game-play, just stick with one server and play as a group. * Servers won't vanish after a day, during the mod servers lasted a couple months before shutting down. Not to mention of how easy it's to get geared in this game, take about an hour to be fully geared. -
Deans wants to bring Base Building Mechanics from Dead Linger - video
sobieski12 replied to TEST_SUBJECT_83's topic in General Discussion
The overall sandbox in building a base is what DayZ needs for longevity. Thus the reason DayZ epoch over took the classic DayZ mod without a challenge, eventually people get bored of hiking and killing. * Some players would rather spend the time to building and storing their valuable loot. Better question is, how is this system going to work on the public hive!? * Servers would be forced to have character locked servers, or you can just log and re-appear in someones base. -
New hope! They have identified the FPS issue and solution is being tested on experimental build.

Actually I am surprised. BLUFOR and OPFOR Jets have yet to be introduced into ARMA 3, so yeah. This is a really fast fix. -

Likewise, really tired of running in-game for miles to reach areas with no loot. <- It takes easily 40+ minutes to reach from the coast to a military installation to get geared. * While the server hoppers have looted all the military areas and major towns... <-- It takes 3 minutes to server hop to the next server... lol Characters bound servers is the only fix to "server hoppers". -
Ever since I've been starting to take more hostages in DayZ, I am quite interested in getting more options to actually control these players. With handcuffs and burlap-sacks, lets expand this area. More prisoner control * "Dog collars" attach the dog collar to a handcuffed prisoners head + use "Rope" drag the player wherever you want. - Would be great to have a attachment feature with the dog collar and the rope. Rope features - Close length "2 meters" - Medium length "6 meters" - Long length "10 meters" Prisoners can walk in any way that want while being handcuffed, a better way to immobilize prisoners. * "Sticks + Rags" to tie the prisoners legs together to prevent the player from walking or moving away. After taking prisoners in my last event, I look forward to taking more.
