I still hope for a March-April release... I just can not stand this torture anymore.

maybe the climb to the top of the world (the Everest) was a metaphor? A metaphor that describes how Rocket and DayZ will get popular after the release of the SA, implying that it will be the most popular game, a success, a breakthrough? lol :P Just picture it - Rocket standing on top of the mountain, raising the game's box in his hands. The background is filled with red colours and smoke, and the sky is grey with lightning strikes, then Rocket laughs in this evil laughter "MUAHAHAHA" :D

aw... I am a little disappointed that we didn't get any new sneak peeks into the game. Oh well, I guess if Rocket didn't post anything then they are busy, which means they are working. Also might mean that they don't really have anything new to show us... But I mean, a little text update, not necessarily has to include screenshots, but just on the current team progress, you know... <_<

I think Rocket said that the public Alpha release will not have the motion captured data yet. It will be added later. (or did he mean the player character? Not sure.) There are also different techniques on detecting bullet hits. Hit boxes not necessarily have to be made. Assassin's Creed does not have better horse animations than Red Dead Redemption. Don't get me wrong, the animations are good, and you do not need Euphoria to implement them if yo are a big company like Ubisoft. But Bohemia the DayZ Dev team does not have this Luxury. BTW, that mo-cap horse made me laugh, I was surprised... :)

yeah........ who needs Euphoria when you got... ah whatever xD But seriously. It is possible to make a realistic enough horse model and animate it, except that it will take a very long time... And imagine doing that for every animal, studying its anatomy of how it runs, walks and etc.

heh, so apparently Rocket has thought seriously about horses in the game. The problem, he said (which I also assumed), would be that horses are hard to animate. Unlike in Red Dead Redemption by Rockstar games, Rocket is limited with funds and the team can't really afford the Euphoria engine that was used in RDR and GTA to create those realistic muscle animations. So, I guess bears, wolves, dogs and etc. are a very foggy idea at the moment. Haha, as I think of it, now it makes sense why the current animal animations in ArmA look so retarded. :D

I thought of it as Day-Z, like an unknown day. like Day X. :P I guess it can be interpreted in many ways.

Exactly, see. This is an obvious thing - to be honest I spent 60% of my time in the forest and around cities. Then when it gets boring, I venture to the towns to have some PVP or to find some cars and generic loot. So hence my suggestion, in order to avoid that "boringness" :). It looks like Rocket and the team are concentrating on making cities look more post apocalyptic (adding gory building interiors and etc.). Maybe I am wrong, and they do redesign the wilderness as well (I am ignoring the new Swamp area because I do not see it as a feature, but just a new location, just like "Novoselky", that new town they added). A feature has to actually present some new gameplay to the player. Either endanger him more, or help him. Adding more rocks, fallen and broken trees, bear and wolf caves, rivers and creeks, cliffs, dense bushes, and etc. That's what I mean. The wild nature has to be quite rich in those terms. I am not talking about a jungle or something, but you know, if you look at a dangerous forest/taiga - check these out: http://i1.trekearth....5043/tundra.jpg (this one below, can be like a hunter's hut of some sort where you could find some food and stay safe) http://static6.depos...Yukon-taiga.jpg http://c3e308.medial...-forest-jpg.jpg That's how I envision it. In a zombie apocalypse, every survivour runs to the wilderness as it is the only relatively safe place. Wouldn't that be awesome seeing that in DayZ :) As for the Account/User statistics. I am pretty sure they will add something like that. I've heard about those player diaries from one source...

Does anybody know anything about new animals being implemented into the game? Maybe animals that can present some danger to the player beside zombies (will make the boring and totally safe forest runs - unsafe :P). Maybe some wolves, bears? Maybe wild city dogs (you know, like those in Chernobyl). And more farm animals, like horses and pigs around and in the villages (can even be in a form of partially rotten corpses lying around the streets), would definitely add to the abandoned atmosphere... imagine the owls' sounds during the night :P You know, it seems like a great idea. Nature has to be involved too. Maybe even some real swamps that can swallow you if you step too far into them. Or how about rivers? Think of it - a streaming river that you can hear from hundreds of meters away in the taiga! Because see, besides cities, a lot of the gameplay involves running in the nature. Nature needs to be more realistic, more wild. This is what will make the player to be truly scared - he has nowhere to go. He will be trapped in between the wild nature and the urban apocalyptic life. That's what Chernarus needs! :) AND, topping all that with seasons! Imagine how awesome that would be having the 4 seasons in the game. Green, Orange/Red, Grey/Brown, and White/Blue pallets covering the ground and trees :) Well, perhaps one day...

The most important thing that I've heard is that "it will be done when it's done" © Rocket. And dat smile on Rocket's face lol :) I know this guy is creating something, something that was never done before in the gaming world, a truly amazing game. Where else in the world would you find a more community involved developer than Rocket? Nowhere! Great job guys!

Chill, jesus.... That menu is just a placeholder. I am sure they will tweak it and make it prettier. It is going to be the same overall, I mean, I guess, the layout and the colours will stay the same, but not the font/button size and etc. I am sure their UI artists understand it. We all know that it is not an important thing now :)

Did you guys see Rockets last twitter? I think we're going to get the game in about 3 months from now. I remember he was mentioning something (sarcasticaly) about how he will "rise" in one of his blogs. and now the twitter says it :P

I wish that the nature would be a greater threat for the players (not just temperature drop because of rain). For example, swamps actually could swallow you if you go there unprepared... animals - Bears, Boars, Wolves, Snakes... you know. Also, see, as I said, Rocket has quite a large dev team.

You guys clearly misunderstood my point. I never said that Rocket works LESS on DayZ SA as a project overall. What I meant is that I am pretty sure he works less on the game's code (as a programmer) than he used to when it was a mod that was developed by him only. Right now, he DOES HAVE a team of people that work together on the game. They are artists, programmers, world designers, AI programmers, and etc. YES, they do have this team and I've seen how many dev names Rocket mentioned in his blogs. It is his team and he is in the control of it. So don't say stuff like: It is in Bohemia's interests to help him with the development process. Rocket is PRing the game. It is his job. No doubt. The programing is left for the programmers. If you still think that Rocket works on the game with 2 other dudes in a room with 2 computers, then you are wrong. Very. It does not come from my mind and my personal opinions. As I said earlier, I am a game development student. It is a part of what I do in my own team.

They have enough Devs dude. It is known. Of course not as much as other titles do, but they have enough. I don't think that Rocket works as much on Dayz SA as he used to work on the mod. Rocket actually is more of a PR guy as you said. His job is now more about telling the gaming community about the game other than developing it. He goes to conferences, meetings, he writes the blogs, he is on the forums here, so yeah. He just keeps the team organized and puts them on the right track of the development. Yes, he does contribute to the development process, but I don't think that it is his main job.

I want more updates. I don't think that doing the devlblog will impact the DayZ development phase... I mean, it takes just a couple hours to write a blog with pictures. And also, Rocket is not the only person working on the game...

what kind of question is that? Obviously they are working on the whole map... They are reworking every part of it, all the way from North West Airfield to South East Skalisty... Why would you even think that they are only working on Chernarus Coast?

I dunno... I always thought controllers were more of a Sport games or Arcade games thing (FIFA, Racing, NBA, NHL, Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Tomb Rider, etc...) If you have a mouse for FPS, Y NO PLAY WITH MOUSE? :P Especially on a PC. There is nothing more powerful than having full control over the game with about 30 keys under your left hand and 10 in you right hand (if you have a good gaming mouse). It's like complaining why Uncharted does not support mouse input!? :D For me, personally, it's like driving a car with a joystick and flying a plane with a steering wheel lol... but anyway, at the end of the day, it is just a personal preference thing...

You clearly underestimate and have no idea about how hard it is to rebuild/redesign/restructure a game engine. Me, being a gamedev student, I just can't complain. Rocket with his team is doing an incredible job on the game. It's not only adding completely new features into an engine from a flying simulator game, but it is also implementing the whole map from an old version of the engine to a newer one. This takes plenty of time. AND they also have to make it in such a way that you won't be yelling "Moooom, those hackers are pissing me off!!!". I am pretty sure they are. I think the menu is not the main focus atm, so they made some quick buttons and etc. The final product will look much better and polished.
