The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Wow this guy should be a writer, i mean seriously that was beautiful, but it still wouldnt fix the issue, however the game should still be made MUCH harder. -
Dean Hall Read Joe Mckinney's Zombie series.
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to Acheron (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Of course the infected could spread their infections how else would it manifest. Id hope dayz players are smart enough to realize that. -
books that unlock new skills.
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to DeadManWalking2's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the idea, it clearly doesnt say its for stats its for new abilities which would be useful in surviving. And maybe it will help some of the kids learn the importance of reading books. -
Then again you could always force their character to stay on that server regaurdless of that player being in the game when unconcious. But than every time you go unconcious your guaranteed to die in sticky situations. Just seems too difficult to be effective.
-
I dont understand whats stopping that player from closing dayz, alt+f4 isnt the only way to close a game. You cant really penalize them for it, they can simply say theyre game crashed or something along the lines of that.

Vehicles=More Common Fuel=Less Common
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to Reaven1911's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well, thing about this is that it would render most cars inefficient. If you had to go hunt for hours and hours on end for a single jerry can it would be easier to simply walk. You cant make it too easy or everyone would have a car. In the end making cars more rare would be the way to go. That being said i do like the idea of siphoning gas off of inoperable vehicles. -
Spawning Outside of Buildings, Not in Them
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to flash2323's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You cant force people to stay on a certain server. That being said it isnt a bad idea really, except in the current dayz mod spawning people outside of buildings would be instadeath if you were spawned in the middle of a street in cherno, it takes a good 15-30 seconds after your player is spawned to when you can actually play him, so either a zombie or sniper would get you. I really dont see any point in barricading yourself in a house unless your mindlessly sniping or loot farming. -
mehh, just dont think the players would go for it really, majority of the suggestions are just to make the game as real as possible. Taking the time to build an entire house let alone a village would be staggering in a post apocolyptic world. Controlling players would still make them automatically go fetch this or construct that and than that guy is going to go have to check up on the inactive players for their progress is still auto doing things. Lots of things are painfull in the world of Dayz, its practically a running simulation if you want to head to another town, but people still love it for the sole purpose of its extreme realism.
-
Well, the players want realism and setting your character on autobuilding a house out of supplies your automatically getting wouldnt cut it. People will want to create their own personalized structure and im sure thats how rocket would do it as Dayz is heavily paralleled with minecraft. Just my 2 cents.
-
Also, restricting one person to one village wont stop people from creating more, just create another profile and make a new one, or just abandon the current one(and unless they disapear, which wouldnt be realistic enough for the dayz crowd) and make one after another. Abandoned hideouts would be a good thing to run up on, possible leftover supplies, and seeing good construction patterns from fellow dayZers
-
well, id rather like to build the walls, windows and such myself. Remember, this isnt a RTS its a zombie sim. More emphasis should be put into the buildings themselves than how many you can make, you can make as many as you want if you got the supplies. It wont be easy to get enough supplies stockpiled to create a whole village. Also, rocket mentioned more about underground fortresses and hideouts than above ground ones.

I was hoping in the standalone there would be some type of ranking system, where there could be certain perks or benefits. For example after surviving x amount of hours you get a perk for a higher possible blood level. Or having say 1000 kills all together in your previous and current lifes you can start out with better supplies. Or just a simple 1-100 leveling system. Would dayz players be open to this concept?
-
Well, theres already some perks newly introduced into the game, just only in a current life, forgot how it goes but it all depends on humanity for now.
-
Jesus christ, this isnt a god damn MMO, go jerk off to faries and dragons or whatever the fuck you people do.
-
You cant say you havent played a game without stats or a ranking system, sure its popular and this game is trying to be different from the crowd. But it just gives more meaning to the game, i for one never played a game for the best stats, i played it for fun. Maybe its just me, but after you go scout around the same town in cherno for the millionth time it would be nice to have some kind of goals or meaning to the game when youve gone as far as you can go, explored all that you could and found the best stuff you could.

Pre-made loot takes out the excitement and rarity of chance. If you go to a store and you already know whats there, it will be boring as all shit to go looting, you just go there get the shit you know is there and go to the next pre planned place. Random loot is key. Also, of course zombies will be attracted to gunshots and will run at you. The idea these people are concious yet infected to make them want to kill and eat people is redundent. If a person was concious, they wouldnt go around killing people, they are mindless reanimated corpses that have only the primal urge to feed. The idea that spraying zombie blood on you would make them think it is you is also redundent. Not only does it seem needlessly overpowered(as if bullets werent enough against a bunch of walking corpses) it also doesnt tie into the sensory organs that zombies use in dayz currently, only sight and hearing. And finally, please fix your grammar and structure before this becomes a 5 page thread of flammers coming at you for poor grammar and structure. PEACE OUT!

attrition, to fight the loot inflation
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to Noobishtactic's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hacks are hacks, hackers get killed everyday, they spawn more, looted off hackers bodies or AIs(yes they can spawn in bots now). There is no real solution to the problem except to get rid of the hacking which battle eye does terribly at. Majority of the people who have the guns arent killed by zombies but rather people which than loot them and the gun continues in circulation, some will be lost after so long from restarts/ not enough room or want for that weapon. The idea to put a usage amount where a weapon can get damaged or destroyed after use, like minecraft, might be present in Dayz standalone because of makeshift melees but it wouldnt fix the problem, they would just spawn more in or dup them, i assure you over half of the end game gear in circulation in dayz is spawned in. Looting a percentage of a person youve killed doesnt make any sense, and still wouldnt fix the problem. Also please edit your post before flamers pick apart your spelling errors/dots instead of commas in numerical values. Peace out! -
wall of zombies sweeping west-east accross the entire map
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to timdl's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Rocket mentioned making zombies stronger and faster, but not increasing the amounts of them, if anything making less in rural towns, possibly more in urban areas like berezino, cherno, elektro etc. While huge amounts might be terrifying, the way zombies are now it just wouldnt be challenging to me. -
Damn, im suprised there hasnt been more flaming on this thread. Anyways, ill generically say like everyone else game should be harder, its easy as it is yadayadayada. And now this thread will die, byebye.

"Rocket Said..." post resurrected *updated 8/8*
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Hoping to see more info on Dayz standalone, at this point i can barely stand the mod, im not going to blame devs, not even the players. Its an alpha and its to be expected, but the standalone rocket hoped would be released in october, but realistically it could be until the end of the year. Even so, thats a very very short ways away but i havent seen much aside from a couple of interviews explaining parallels between it and minecraft along with other details like pricing with a few screenshots. I guess what im trien to say is i want to see and hear more about its development and maybe a video or 2 of gameplay from the work in progress standalone. -
Credit to those who play without a microphone
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to Sula's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
people should have a mic if theyre planning to play dayz for more than a couple hours. a microphone could mean the difference between life and death, losing a comrade to a gunshot and not knowing his location, right down to a can of beans while your starving before they despawn. If you cannot afford your hobby(a whole 10$ investment) than i dont think you should be playing =\ -
Bribase I did not say start with a gun, but perhaps better equipment like food or water or maybe even a bloodbag at the most. Also, you would still have to get to your camp, which depending on where you placed it would require a gun for self defense or just a lot of running and eluding. What if the ranking system imposed was just a simple 1-100 leveling system with no added benefits or perks except in possibly your own current life untill you die. The leveling system could be viewed to see your overall progress, like the amount of time played, amount of bandits/murders you have, amount of zombies killed right down to how many beans youve eaten. While the ranking would show in the lobby or players list. If you would like to see that please choose the third option.

somehow this thread is "hot" even though all the comments are hate on grammar and structure xD oh forums, i love you

Remove Thermal Abilities From Weapons
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to magicflute's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
weapon modifications is already supported in arma 3s engine and will be on Dayz standalone. If there are any thermal scopes they will be endgame gear. Chances are thermal scopes will stay along with nightvision scopes. -
updated poll, now if you would like to see your rank either on your profile or displayed in lobbies but no perks or benefits than theres a third choice.
