Dayz is the game I'd always dreamed of
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to richjones19772000's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Alas, like many after a couple hundred hours you will find yourself with nothing to do, but fear not new content will hopefully be delivered in the standalone :) -
The sniper with brown pants.
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to deathrush's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Chances are if he was missing that badly he was using a CZ or dmr, something without zeroing, even with the mildots depending on the server it would be difficult to measure that out. And why would you snipe newcomers on the coast, with a ghillie and a rifle capable of zeroing? Come on now, killing zeds with that is more entertaining. -
Loving the clothes in the Standalone
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to oldenworld's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the clothing, like the weapons, will have durability to them as well, so after being mobbed with zombies and blood-stained with bandit blood i can understand it. -
DayZ Commnuity Challenges - Evidence required
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have done this before in elektro with a few friends, except it was gangum style before it was completely mainstream up the ass back in august, ended up getting picked off within the first 10 minutes. It was a helluva lota fun though -
Get a few friends, get all tactical and shit try to figure out where bandit camps are, paruz the forums, trick a bandit and kill them. I've been trolled by plenty of bandits on the forum coming to the survivor campfire wanting to team up, went to the bandit forums, rounded up a few unholy souls and sent them back to hell.

How much more FPS will the Standalone give?
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to oldenworld's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I never really had many problems with the game, in fact im hoping the SA will be more resource intensive, i have a pretty good rig going(i7 2600k with a gtx 680) and i would love to put my hardware to the test. I just hope rocket caters to both the people with entry-level computers and enthusiasts alike. -
Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Im diggin the looks so far, the question everybody is asking: when will it be released? You have to give your massive crowds of roaring fans some kind of estimation... People(not me) are starting to lose interest, and with the mod basically dead(which i can understand considering the majority of the focus is on the SA) people are leaving the Dayz scene, even with the great modding community. Of course, you have to be very careful answering this question, people already took your words of "a goal to release in december" and say it was a guarantee and feel as though you have lied to them(which i understand was just hopeful thinking). People are tearing at the seems over a date. I believe you and your team are doing the impossible, recreating an engine and redoing everything from scratch within such a short period of time, it takes major gaming companies like treyarc with CoD at least a year to add just new content to their games with maybe some graphical tweaking with massive amounts of funding. -
DayZ Standalone Discussion
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to griffinz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If sergei was smart enough he would have to look no further than these forums, the same ideas are repeated over and over in the threads and stand out among others, and if rocket is truelly listening to his fans than common sense says they will be added to the game. Warz is fucked, they know it, we know it. They will never be able to achieve any of these aspects with their shitty war inc engine. Rocket has no reason to be afraid of warz, letting us paint an image of what the final product(SA) will be would put many of our minds at rest. -
DayZ Standalone Discussion
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to griffinz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would like to hear more about what exactly he has added into the SA, and what he plans on adding, these discussion threads go on and on about WHAT to put in, why not cut to the chase and tell them? Im sure you and your team has heard the majority of the main stream suggestions and are still weighing some of them, but include the ones that are definatly being added so we can get a better understanding of what to expect. -
I have not played dayZ in 4 months, what have i missed?
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to ZeePalin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I also havent played for a while, dayz commander fucked up all my dayz files so i couldnt play, was too lazy to reinstall up until now because i feel i experienced all the game had to offer, im hoping there is more to do than back in september. And for the person saying she/he was playing for months and only encountered 2 hackers must have played on extremely low populated servers and stayed out in the wilderness, i used to encounter them on at least a weekly basis. Majority of the high end gear you scavenge off a corpse was hacked. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
{420}Mr.Smiley replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If that was implemented think how cool it would be to be a bandit rolling on the side of one in a car and jumping onto it, taking them hostage or whatever. Kinda like the old timey westerns where a dude would jump onto a train from a horse. The possibilities are endless. -
Maybe different variations of NPCs for the random events, which would be more challenging than the day to day mobs. Like police zombies in police stations and certain npcs that can run indoors. It would make it harder for people to obtain good loot and balance the system. 6

an anti-suggestion... yes, except if they dont listen to the community than they for they arent listening to you, so it will never happen. Think these things through padawan.
-
Id say you would struggle fps wise on high player servers, on lowest settings. You REALLY need an upgrade man, im not going to preach to you or bash you for having a bad PC, but if you want to get in the whole pc gaming craze you gota pimp yo PC B)
-
uhhh, you dont need to shoot yourself in the head, ye olde respawn button is good enough, if you need an explanation because the game has to be that realistic than let your imagination go free and tell yourself your character sexually affixiated himself.
-
Its called a hacker, better get used to them. Either that or a lagger, which i doubt if he majically broke your legs.
-
Everyone hates to be killed, especially while unarmed or harmless, but it is a necessary function of the game. However i believe there should be drawbacks to these acts. Because the goal of this game is to be realistic as possible what if murdering creates phycological effects to the player in the game. The first person you kill should have a short but horrible drawback. Your player might vomit from the disgust of killing his fellow man, he may start to weep, and his vision will blur, and he will be regretful, maybe he is too disgusted to even touch his first victim. After the next few kills little should happen, but after so many murders your character starts to go insane and he starts to whisper to himself possibly giving his location away, paranoia sets in and you might start hearing things, this is something that will have longterm effects to the player. He may have hallucinations or a bloodthurst that must be quenshed. You can say "oh my character needs to grow a pair of fucking balls and steal all this guys shit already" but in reality if you were to kill someone, im sure you would regret it as well.
-
stress does not mean insanity, zombies are just mindless husks of what once was a human, the disgust from their wounds doesnt make you feel regretful but happy that you have put them out of their misery. Its just a drawback that would make sense and would be realistic which is what the players crave, majority of the posts on suggestions are to make it more realistic
-
Eh, ive searched but i havent seen a thread saying anything about phycological effects after murder.
-
I like this idea and dayz has been slowly implementing this in the mod with humanity, i believe there was benefits and drawbacks from high and low humanity but nothing major. This would also decrease player killing, while banditry will never be solved and is a necessary part of the game, there is no real incentive to not kill. Other ideas like creating more events where you need players to survive are having drawbacks to murdering all should be implemented.
