I've avoided being exposed to cheating/hacking for about a week now. My method is 100% foolproof, and has resulted in hour upon hour of enjoyable gameplay. My solution? Stop playing DayZ until something effective is done to curb the problem. My solution was made easier to enforce by going on vacation and having only a TC1100 to play with, 1990's games ftw.

It is not hard in the least. Given the alpha state we're in, it wouldn't be abnormal nor surprising if every other (or every) update there was a wipe. Hell, it might weed out some of the fucking pussies playing at being survivors, and whining up every fucking thread and forum with butthurt. Weekly wipes. I'm OK with it.

We have a 1:1 day/night cycle, but a 7:1 food/drink cycle. It's comical really.

I was in the "what hackers?" boat for a while, until last week. 8 different servers over 3 nights, and 8 of those servers (scattered worldwide; FR, UK, DE, US, RU) were quiet until... mass teleports, or everyone thrown up in the air and dropped, or guys buzzing everyone in jets. The odds of jumping servers to avoid this bullshit only to have it happen 30 minutes later tells me 1 of 2 things. I am either the luckiest/unluckiest mother fucker in the world OR There are fucking assholes EVERYWHERE. Given that I was not struck by lightening today, nor did I receive notice of a massive inheritance awarded to me adding evidence for luck/unluck, I'm gonna go with "There are so many fucking hackers it's rather a bit of a joke". Seems lately if it's FPS, you're gonna run into aimbotters, godmoders, scripters and general exploiting dickheads. I don't give a damn how they want to play their games, more power to them. Their right to throw a punch stops at my face. Since no one else will do anything about it, I did.

Wouldn't surprise me honestly. Fact is, any keygen has a tiny chance to produce an actual legit key, not just keys that fool the installer. Another important point to note, sometimes that's the only protection on the game. If it installed OK, obviously you're allowed to play it. Pretty unheard of for big titles, but as you get towards smaller and smaller niche areas, the DRM usually gets smaller and smaller. We may all love Arma2 to death, but it is hardly a mainstream title.

You want some real fun, play a dusk/twilight server, kill the ingame music and just find a good numbers station feed to turn up. I'm particularly fond of The Buzzer (UVB 76), in spite of it being a bit "boring". Occasionally, maybe twice a month, you'll get lucky and hear some distant sounds/conversation behind the buzzing, it is possible the buzzing tone is played to an open air mic. Otherwise there is little "activity" in the way of numbers (there was a pretty crazy amount of activity just around a year or so ago though, damn shame I couldn't have been tuned in then!)

was in the "never seen one" boat until friday night. Got telekilled. well fuck that. Switch to another server. Play about an hour, Jet goes overhead, flying damn low. I giggle, wondering if he's also blasting highway to the dangerzone over the mic (would be brilliant if he was). I check the player list, no one new on (only 8 people, it's nearly pitch black darkness, all the bitches flee to daylight servers). I stick around figuring no harm so far, LIGAF some guy wants to buzz around in a jet. Then tele, leg break, and kill. So fuck it. I'm taking a little vacation in 2 weeks, and probably wont' have time to get on this weekend anyway, maybe when i get back the situation will have toned down a bit.

This already seems to be somewhat the case. I've popped a few zeds and it dropped them into crawlers rather than kill them. As for the 1911, mine was still 1 hitting zeds at lunchtime, so I dunno. patches don't roll out universally, so myself and many others may be behind a version, or our servers are.

IF this were standalone, and only IF, would it be even remotely believable that Audio Rejectz was trying to do anything besides rationalize their own cheating. Sorry, I read the original post 3 or 4 times, and all I get is "I got some sweet hacks, but I feel guilty, so I need to go rationalize them." That aside, Rocket has google and can search for hacks and cheats just as easy as anyone here can, and likely has/will. Allow the devs to test this themselves. Random players (no, sorry.. TESTERS) abusing every glitch, cheat and script they can find does absolutely zero to help the developers. It overloads servers, it causes server admins to pull the plug, it causes players (ahem.. testers) to leave or resort to "counter-cheating". + beans for you.
