People who murder bandits =/= heroes
KrystoferRobin replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Is this... a bandit... crying about bandits thread? Good god man, grow a pair of nuts. -
Why is everybody so satisfied with ARMA2 Engine?
KrystoferRobin replied to EndEffeKt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you want to really get worked into a frenzy, kill the lights, get some good, comfy headphones, stick to first person and use a TrackIR. When you're running through Cherno and you can glance down side streets as you run from some jackass with a hatchet, it really gets the blood flowing. The incremental leaning is fantastic for keeping a minimal profile when you're trying to return fire. I don't have to tap move because I have the lean thing going for me, but I've never felt it was that fidgety to get into a decent position. Again, I've had a trackir for a good long time now, I can make those tiny adjustments to my position with a lean of my head. -
Bandit able to take almost 30 bullets, without dying?
KrystoferRobin replied to blommas's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Here's a few tips to avoid that situation. 1) Aim for the head 2) Aim for the head 3) Aim for the head 4) Don't aim at his belt buckle 5) Aim for the head More importantly than all of that though... Headshots. Make them. -

Oh but you can lean just a little bit sir. you can also aim off-center of your view. You could use this or if you don't want to pony up for it, there are homebrew variations. Or a webcam can work as well (I used this a bit, it works fairly well once it's set up. The TrackIR is better). Here's what is essentially an ad for the TrackIR. If that doesn't sell you on it, nothing will. As a heavy Arma2 player, this was the single most important piece of hardware for me, hands down. Worth every penny. If you don't have a lot of pennies, there are alternatives that work fairly well (but still, nothing compares to the real thing). I am not affiliated with, paid by, or otherwise invested in this hardware, I'm just a huge fan, and can't see how anyone plays without it. Semi-Related Edit: The guy demoing the TrackIR...... Here's what the elevated situational awareness provides you. Just a video of him murderfucking everyone because of his huge advantages provided by cover of darkness, use of cover, hit and run, and better awareness. Also a good showcase of why some of us are absolutely smitten with Arma2, no matter how flawed it may or may not be. -

I love the Arma engine because I've been a long-time player of Arma2, and seeing it in its full glory, as it was intended, forgives mods like DayZ their flaws. The inventory is a bit flakey, but when you're playing a specific role in a squad, and you start your missions fully kitted, it's not an issue you find often. I rarely if ever need to CHECK my gear, let alone loot/move shit around. When you're saddled up cruising across the desert on the assault, the terrain is spectacular, and those first volleys of return fire are positively terrifying. DayZ doesn't have a hell of a lot of largescale battles, so the quirks show a lot more. The mod really has taken the worst aspects of an otherwise fantastic platform, and utilized them as heavily as possible. I think other engines would have been better suited to this mod, absolutely. I do not fault Arma for DayZ's problems, and I do not fault DayZ for Arma's. -
40 Second Graphical glitch fix.
KrystoferRobin replied to Sgt.Asshat's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Patch is supposed to fix it, and that method doesn't work for everyone. Like me. It doesn't do a damn thing whatsoever. flush doesn't help either, or if it does, it lasts about 10 seconds. Only fix I've found is to completely close Arma and reload. That gets me through the current area. When I approach a village/city/airfield that's glitching out like a spaz, I just disconnect, close the client and reload. I am fortunate to have a really high end rig, so the extra minute or two reloading isn't a big deal in the long run. On my old machine... holy shit I'd have given up on this mod ages ago. -

Sweet fuck I hope you're trolling. Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759 They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. This was written by Franklin, within quotation marks but is generally accepted as his original thought, sometime shortly before February 17, 1775 as part of his notes for a proposition at the Pennsylvania Assembly, as published in Memoirs of the life and writings of Benjamin Franklin(1818). A variant of this was published as: Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. This was used as a motto on the title page of An Historical Review of the Constitution and Government of Pennsylvania. (1759); the book was published by Franklin; its author was Richard Jackson, but Franklin did claim responsibility for some small excerpts that were used in it. “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ― Benjamin Franklin, Memoirs of the life & writings of Benjamin Franklin Just a few citations of quite the opposite quote. -
Randomly running zombies
KrystoferRobin replied to RabidDiabetic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've been the only player on a server and seen them run, but only in short little bursts. I've also seen them casually walking around like regular humans. I've heard them shout "OW!" and "SHIT!" and various other things when shot, like a normal human/civy. Arma2 is quirky. I have NOT seen more than 1 running w.out a person to chase however. -
Which Dupping has been fixed?
KrystoferRobin replied to gardiner83@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Meh. Private hive solved all my DayZ issues. server has a high population, great latency, rebooted regularly so the load times are fast, dupers get banned. It's a shame you're married to the one server, but it's a hell of a lot better than server hopping for 3 hours so you can get away from cheaters. -
What would you have done in this situation.....
KrystoferRobin replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The first time he aimed at one of you he should have gotten a lead injection to the noggin. I've gradually shifted from goodguyheroman to assholekilleveryoneonsight guy due to the rampant backstabbing and KOS everyone has taken to. It sucks, and I hate it. Sure, I could take the moral highground and stick to my stance of "do unto others", but a man can only stand to face that beach so many damn times, ya know? I'd have shot the fucker in the river, personally. -
I'll chime in with another "i haven't seen a cz in a long while". I've thrown away more AS50's than I care to count, but haven't laid hands on a 550 in 7-8 weeks. Maybe the spawn rate is changed/broken? Oh, no. AS50's are duped to shit and back. Move along.

why are so many children playing this game?

Is there a special place to pick up 11-14 year old players? I need them for... things... candy in my van.... -
Slower Zombies.. Has this been talked about?
KrystoferRobin replied to Bricrue's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Slow or fast, I find doors and gates 100X more dangerous then zombies. I completely and totally ignore the infected. Just stepping into a building (which you kinda gotta do for loot anyway) pretty much nullifies their threat completely. If you have a hatchet, its just another chore to do before you get back to playing. -

I can almost see the logic behind this.... and yet I can't. I played MW2 for several months when it released, I really enjoyed the mindless, gratuitous violence of it. Gradually, it became more and more filled with aimbotters and wallhackers, to the point I could play 10 matches, and maybe 2 were legit. While crying about it to my brother (lets face it, QQ is QQ), he says "just get your own wallhack and stop being a little bitch". So I did. I grabbed myself an ESP, and joined a few matches. First time some asshat was clearly cheating, I flipped that shit on and would grief him and only him for the entire time he was in our "server". Within about 3 days, I had quit playing completely. Even using it as a retaliation/defense completely ruined the game for me. I wouldn't ever get shot because I could see everyone, and avoided them all so I could exact justice on the cheater. Ultimately, he's still playing, and cheating his whiny bitch ass off, and I've retired a game I quite enjoyed. I really can't see the draw. It really just isn't fun to know where everyone is, have all the guns/ammo, or be invincible. I don't get it. I've tried to understand it. I DO understand making yourself hugely powerful through hard work, determined planning and in-depth knowledge of a game's systems, like Anarchy Online twinking... squeezing gear meant for a level 150 onto a level 40 doctor is hard, expensive, and requires not just your own hard work and time, but the help of other players to make it happen. I dunno, I really wish I could "get it". Maybe understanding it would make it less of an obnoxious, rage inducing thing. I can't even pity them for being pathetic because I'm not convinced it is purely them being pussies who can't handle a little hardcore gaming. I've spent years playing roguelikes and loving it, permadeath and all, but ALL of my friends call me a masochist for it; I've warned everyone that "my little @sign games are too hardcore for you". If that's how you want to play... Ok. I only wish it wasn't at the expense of other people playing the way THEY want. Your right to throw punches stops at my face. I signed up to be sniped in cherno after spawning. I signed up to hunted down and run over by UAZ's. I didn't sign up for some asshat to teleport everyone into a deathmatch arena and set them on fire while he masturbates into his grandmothers panties.
