What about some zombie´s skills? and a way to "punish" banditry
JamesButlin replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think you should have probably seperated the two ideas into seperate threads so that there's not so many mixed reactions in one thread! :') Since I first got DayZ I wanted the zombies to be able to grab you/make you fall over and for players to be able to do the same to zombies, imagine a zombie sprinting at you, you shoot him in the arm causing him to veer off from the impact and he runs into a wall and falls over ;) Moments like that make a game for me! Personally, I disagree with adding any types of hallucinations, too instrusive in my opinion, but there should be definately be subtle differences when you're a bandit yes. -

I LOVE all of your first ideas. This (well, the standalone) is what's going to be one of the (if not the) best zombie survival game in the making and I want to be fucking terrified of these things! :) I want genuine panic and horror while playing this game :D -
Am I missing something.. I don't get what you mean by "every time this change takes place, I revert back to the coyote patrol pack, which has destroyed numerous guns for me". How does changing from a bandit to a survivor change your backpack? I've still no idea what the humanity system actually does (other than classing you as a survivor/bandit).

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes a million times yes. Logical, game-enhancing and something that should have been there from the start! -throws beans at the screen-
-
Yeah, players should spawn with a randomised blood type but all blood type resources should be equal, we don't want to give some players a better chance of finding stuff than others!

If you could implement ANYTHING What would you?
JamesButlin replied to Minsty's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like a lot of op's ideas especially these ones: - For myself it'd probably be, able to effect the enviroment like Fortifications including boards, sandbags, palisade etc mini forts. - All buildings enterable no restrictions including skyscrapers if something along the line of a big city is put in. - Wieldable torches ( Stick, rag, FIRE!) - Items instead of being on the floor in buildings, on shelves and cracked safes/cupboards factories and some buildings lack opjects you'd normally find in there like crates. - More hoards of zombies - Items be in logical places for example, go into a house, you'll find a heap of food in the cupboards if it hasn't been raided maybe even plates of left over food with flies buzzing around them or something clothes in - Searchable destroyed vehicles ( Non repairable ones) I LOVE the idea of having indoor complexes like supermarkets etc, brilliant :). Some more ideas: - Pulling the axes/hatchets out of those blasted tree stumps! - Introducing more melee weapons - Using non-melee-objects as weapons, empty whisky bottle? smashes after a few hits? Remove hunting knife from toolbelt as a melee weapons? Turn entrenching tool into a showel and use that as one? Heck, hitting something with a plank of wood from the pile? - Adding more vehicles!! There's not enough! -
I think blood should naturally regen slowly, but it'd have to be like VERY slow! I was thinking about something along these lines actually, it would make more sense than just.. "oh, here's some blood, i'll give this to someone regardless of what blood type they are" ;). To expand on your idea, I was also thinking that people should be able to give themselves blood transfusions, not all players have someone to play with/would trust a stranger to help them out, maybe make the blood transfusion process last a bit longer/make you really fatigued afterwards too? EDIT: I think the "healing yourself by eating food" system is okay how it is, it is rather hard to get fully equipped to hunt and eat natural animals! Also In response to Gapi182, hospitals already are filled with blood, there must have been like 25 blood bags in the hospital I looted last night!

When is the DC timer coming..
JamesButlin replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Were you aiming at his foot? ;) -
I've been getting stuck at loading too! Are you connecting to 1.7.2.5 servers or 1.7.2.4?
-
when is 1.7.2.5 gonna come to sixlauncher
JamesButlin replied to KEEPCARLM's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just download 1.7.2.5 and play that instead? There's 100's of servers using the new update, I haven't found any problems getting hold of a server/updating the game! Edit: Did you replace ALL of the files in @dayz folder? -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
JamesButlin replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Erm... What happened to "1.7.2.5 will not come out (it will be 1.7.3)"? Edit: I'm not complaining, we all love updates, just being picky aha :D- 2513 replies

Don't suppose you know if there will be a completely seperate forum for the standalone or a seperate section on here?

Fun incident at Elektro School

Meh, would have been more impressive had you not taken down a group of survivors who probably would have left you be. -
Will this stay as the official Forums?
JamesButlin replied to Nimz41's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I imagine that they will want to keep the two different products (mod & standalone) seperate and will more than likely have a forum dedicated to the standalone once alpha testing begins.. Just my thoughts. -
The cost of Day Z stand alone
JamesButlin replied to Tyler_Sharp's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ already has character customisation >< -
There was a TV show about what would happen in the absense of humanity, dogs would be the first to die out because they are too loyal/reliant on humans and would starve nearly to death before looking for food. Just sayin'

As with the rest of the internet, you have to ignore the crap to get the good stuff :).

ArmA III(DayZ stand alone) engine improvements
JamesButlin replied to Charles Darwin (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is going to be beautiful :) -
I disagree, It kills the immersion. Maybe implement global chat via radios & radio towers or something people can control but it shouldn't be up all the time.

Wall at the border to keep the action inside the map

I love this idea :) -
DayZ standalone will use Real Virtuality 4 engine!
JamesButlin replied to oZiix's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Apparently not, they are still developing the mod at the same time as developing the stand-alone. I imagine they will experiment with lots of ideas in the mod and, if they are successful, they will add these into the standalone. Though to be honest I'm pretty sure the mod will be left unfinished/polished somewhere down the line so Bohemia/Rocket have more time to put into standalone. -
Very good advice for new starters :)
-
By the looks/sounds of it Rocket is pretty busy sorting everything out for the standalone, I imagine a few more days until he returns to us with some official announcement plans (and hopefully a hotfix for these alpha-breaking bugs) :) edit - can't spell.

List of bugs we should watch out for!
JamesButlin replied to fabo (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Don't try to lay down in outhouses, you will break your shins ;) Don't try to get on a ladder unless you are in front of the ladder/it's visible. Else you will try to force yourself through a solid wall and break all your bones :D If you shoot a loud gun like a lee enfield, always look around to see if you've agro'ed any zombies. They will often come sprinting towards you without you realising. -
I like it! I think it'd go hand in hand with more zombie states (other than just passive/active) like "aware", "alert", "curious".
