A lot of these have been suggested (and even considered) in the suggestions threads or on reddit mate :) Edit: also - "ghosts at Green Mountain that will only not attack you if you have a mountain dew, and would be hard as hell to kill." Realistic zombie survival sim + ghosts = Contradiction.

Shoot on sight vs The No.1 rule of DayZ
JamesButlin replied to Red_Sky's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agreed, it's been suggested countless times so I hope they do implement this! At the moment PVP is the biggest threat because there's just not much else to do for those that don't want to help people & are bored of just surviving. (sorry Red_Sky, gone a little off topic) -
Shoot on sight vs The No.1 rule of DayZ

There's sort of the mix between; what would you do if this were real life (you'd want to survive)? It's only a game, what's more fun to do. Though mostly agreed, I think in the end, the zombies are going to be absolutely ruthless (not through buggy AI or bad hit detection - sheer numbers and lethality). We'll then be forced to fight for our lives and team up. I can't wait. -
Shoot on sight vs The No.1 rule of DayZ
JamesButlin replied to Red_Sky's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Personally, I like a healthy balance of helping people that deserve/want it (i've given a few new starters blood transfusion/basic gear - know better than to arm them) and defending myself if I see people as a threat, if/when the zombies are more of a threat/they are more fun to kill (gibs/bodyparts/shooting off limbs/ragdolls please!) then i'll probably enjoy that more than anything else I've teamed up with a few randomers on a temporary basis as I agree, there is a thrill to not knowing how someone you don't know will react. -
Shoot on sight vs The No.1 rule of DayZ

You made it plenty clear enough but I think it's more like Entaro said: Once you're geared out with good loot (in the 1.7.2.6 patch), what is there to do but either survive, help people, or kill them? What's more fun to do at this present time in the mod where zombies aren't currently much of a threat to experienced players? -
Shoot on sight vs The No.1 rule of DayZ
JamesButlin replied to Red_Sky's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not really.. Yeah you shouldn't get attached to your gear, but you also shouldn't sprint out in the open on a full server at the NW airfield screaming "I'M A TARGET I'M A TARGET" down the mic? Ideally, there's a healthy balance. Enjoy having your gear but also enjoy the chance to find more gear once you lose it? That's the way I see it anyway. Edit: If someone makes me jump and I end up emptying a clip at a new starter, I apologise down chat and them them i'll leave their body if they want anything off it again. -

Shoot on sight vs The No.1 rule of DayZ
JamesButlin replied to Red_Sky's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There are no rules on DayZ, we fight to survive. Saying that, if someone is a genuine threat to me (coming at me with gun not lowered, taking shots at me) I will put them down regardless of their gear. -
Depends how far into the future we're looking, I remember Dean saying something about DayZ being based in present time, but no mention of how far into the outbreak it'd be set (pretty far i'm guessing). I kinda like the idea of having a cell/mobile phone and having the abilty to (on mousewheel roll) add player to phonebook if they also have one. Again it would have to be battery powered/require charging at power sources. Depends how much they want to do with radios because it'd be an either/or situation.

Me too. Love it!

Sounds like the work of a hacker to me. -shakes fist-

Building your own gun, something for the standalone.
JamesButlin replied to Puffy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I remember Dean saying in an interview it's definitely a feature he wants to implement into the standalone :) -

Please use the search function before posting ideas as a few of these have already been suggested and/or have been commented on by the devs. Idea 5: you already can, go onto player profile on the DayZ main menu. I do like Idea 7 though, seasons in the game! If they were realtime that would be fantastic! Imagine how much different the game would play in the snow as opposited to heatwaves in the summer.

This is why I don't join Russian servers, i'm not saying all Russian players are hackers, but all of the ones i've come across have been!

Player joins server with a dog???!?!

I didn't think they were in the code yet? Unless it's somehow leaked out of the previews of 1.7.3! -
super ultra mega fun two dimensional graphics death
JamesButlin replied to UnholyPariah's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
What PC/potato are you playing it on? I've never seen anything like that even on the lowest of the low settings! Have you tweaked your graphics card to alter in game settings in any way? The only thing I can think of is it's trying to render everything as if it was on the edge of visibility (before the models upgrade in detail as you get closer)? No idea otherwise! -
This I think that'd be the most beneficial to be honest, if they haven't already thought about including it, i'd love this. I'm dying. :D

While I do like these suggestions, Mr Bean has a point, most of these suggestions have been posted numerous times both on this forum and on reddit! One suggestion I haven't come across is the medipack/first aid kit, which is a nice idea in my opinion, though, I think it should function more like an additional backpack which sits in your inventory space, all medical supplies could be stored in there (take up less room than when they are in inventory - similar to hodraic cube in Diablo 2 if anyone has played that). This would make it easier to loot dead players by just picking up their medipack/first aid kit and it's a realistic idea as I could see people carrying these around in a real apocalypse :)

We've had the problem of not being able to see the same server sometimes, usually my friends have had filters on without realising.. In Commander you need to give it a decent amount of time to load the server list once you click refresh. As for the greyed out servers, you're certain they are running the same version of Arma II and DayZ as you? Some servers can get a little behind on updates.

Don't completely blame your graphics card, there are people with far higher spec who still have framerate issues running the DayZ mod.. it's an optimisation issue combined with a memory leak (so I hear) that drags the game down. There are several ways to tweak your card to maximise performance - this is a good one for ATI cards and definitely worth a try (gave me an extra 10fps).

Most of the original suggestions are already being worked on for the standalone project/maybe the mod. The fortress idea kind of goes hand in hand with the underground construction the team are incorporating into DayZ. I do agree with you on your suggestions but as Fraggle said, a lot of these have already been suggested/go without saying as the mod is still in alpha.
