  1. So, I log in today only to find that my legs are broken. Odd because I don't remember logging off last night with broken legs. I think to myself, "Whatever, I'm not too far from Cherno, and I have a gun. Off to the hospital I go" I start crawling over, and I get a "you were kicked off the game" message. I just rejoin thinking it's a bug or something. The broken legs bug was more annoying, so a simple d/c or kicked isn't going to stop me! I'm determined! While I'm crawling on over, I see a fellow survivor running around training 10+ zombies. I just watch him laughing (sorry buddy haha), but then out of no where one of the zombies he is training aggros me from around 50-60m out while I'm prone behind some tall grass. I take the shot since I can't run, and shortly after I see the survivor get mauled to death by the infected chasing him. I start to crawl my way to his dead body to see if he by any chance has anything I can use, but I get the "you were kicked off the game" message again. I decide the guy running probably had nothing of importance on him and join a different server. I resume my crawling to Cherno hospital. A few minutes later, again, "you were kicked off the game." I keep trying different servers, but I keep getting kicked. At this point, I figured it can't be angry admins kicking me for doing something. So after a rather bug-filled hour or two of trying to play, I have a few questions. 1) Has anyone else ever logged in to broken legs, and is there anything I can do to prevent this? I heard logging out too close to trees or vehicles can make you explode, so I never do that. Similarly, is there anything that makes you break your legs? 2) If a zombie is aggroed by someone else, are the chances of them seeing you increased even if you are being Solid Snake level of sneaky? Are their "senses heightened" or something? 3) What's with the "you were kicked off the game" message I keep getting? Do I have a bad copy of the ArmA beta patch or DayZ files? Or was it honestly just bad luck and dealing with dicks of admins in the 5 servers I tried?
  2. hahaha, I'm just going to blame everything on Green Mountain from now on. Maybe my log files are hidden at Green Mountain too!

    Freaking Failure.

As far as I know, your 4 shots should have broken that window. I heard an empty can can even break it, but I haven't had the opportunity to try that personally. Looks like a bug, yeah.
  4. I do! Adds a whole new level of challenge haha. Given the amount of PvP flame war on the forums, I've actually died WAY more to bugs than to these sniper bandits which are apparently rampant. I was just wondering if it was because I logged off near or on something I shouldn't have. Makes sense I suppose. Better just the one infected than the 10. You (or anyone else) wouldn't happen to know where these log files are located would you?

This is how you deal with Bandit Snipers.

Great hunt down Psychobob. I loved that you did it with an ax too. And I applaud you in not killing that helpless guy you wanted to "ax a question." Poor fellow didn't even realize to take cover when you said there were snipers around. To that second sniper: please uninstall the game. Edit: to the first sniper as well, please uninstall. (just read the comments saying his sniper was hacked in)

    DayZ Standalone confirmed??

I think I side with Zed on this one even though everything at this point is speculation. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the fact that the mods have deemed worthy to pin a thread called "ArmA 3 (and DayZ)" probably hints that it's going in that direction. Who knows for sure though.

    40% Off Arma 2 Co

Like Max said, welcome! The forums are, as they always are for every game, a rough place to be haha. You'll have more fun in-game than here :) But on topic, more players isn't a bad thing. I love how people think it is.

    Sidestrafe reviewing rocket

I just listened to the entire interview while I did some work real quick. Even though it's somewhat long, I encourage others to listen to it. Rocket is pretty down to earth, calm, and has some cool ideas up his sleeves. I especially like the part where he says people need to chill out on the forums :) Great post Mourek (and obviously great interview Sidestrafe and Rocket)

Ten Reasons why Kill on Sight is 'Realistic'

I honestly can't take any of this seriously... I think the way people play games can never be compared to life. The death penalty in this game, while harsh, is not ANYWHERE NEAR the death penalty for the real world. Even though in game we play a certain play style, the truth of the matter is in real life we would all react differently. Over my gaming career, across all games, I've probably killed hundred of thousands of NPCs/players. Now, do you know how many REAL people I've ever kill in real life? ZERO. So it's all bullshit to talk about "well in real life, I'd party with my 3 closest friends and shoot everyone else on sight" or "I'd run around giving blood bags to the injured because I'm the white knight." Chances are, you'd be shitting your pants waiting to die like most of us. There's going to be a time when we're going to have to come to face the fact that this is a game. I'd rather be entertained and having fun than seriously debating what I'd actually do in a zombie apocalypse.

New Radio Station only for survivors!

omg, I just came on the forums to post a new thread asking what people listen to while playing. You just took my idea and made it 1000x better! I would absolutely love to have a radio station like this. Your comparison to ThreeDog in fallout is perfect. Like others have said, if you came on from time to time to "advertise" or rant about some DayZ happenings, man, that would be awesome! Great idea Edit: There is a 4 disc jazz collection called "A Night Out with Verve." The discs are wining, dining, dancing, and romancing. Great collection, and anything from this collection I feel like would be great on the station :)

Does everybody plays like this ?

I think it's RaimpsLP. And please do. Bring back screenshot for proof and you'll win all the beans!
  12. I'm actually really surprised and disappointed he said that. I don't see how VOIP is any more "realistic" and immersive than a global channel. If he has such a boner for the ArmA engine, shouldn't he encourage people to actually use it with direct channel?

The threats in this game no longer exist.

I don't think he meant the "rage" infection. I think he mean't the coughing from having your temp drop. Although I might have misinterpreted what he was saying.

Does everybody plays like this ?

I just skimmed through the video, but not only was the "commentary" boring as hell but the gameplay was disgusting to watch. Don't support these guys. Don't watch their videos.

    Funniest Moments On DayZ, GO!

This isn't me, but someone posted this video here a few nights ago. One of my favorites though.
  16. I actually experienced that tonight too with a buddy. Usually 3 zombies spawn at deer stands. Tonight we were getting 2 groups of 3 spawing in rapid succession. When we reached a city we saw similar spawning. I've never seen this before and I assumed it was a bug/glitch. Anyone else experience or can confirm/deny this?
  17. First of all, I apologize for the long post. Hopefully it can start up an interesting discussion though. Also, I just want to be perfectly clear that this isn't a "turn FF off" or "add safe zones" thread. I'm not here to complain about the PvP in the game in any way. I am here to ask a question or two. I'm hoping a veteran of the game could explain a few things to me. To me, the community of a game is just as important as the game itself. I am extremely curious if at the beginning of time (when DayZ opened its doors and only a few hundred people or so played), if shoot-on-sight was the unwritten rule as it is now? I think it’s interesting to take a step back and ask how or why the community decided on that ONE AND ONLY RULE. Is it based on the size (and probably different gaming backgrounds) of the community? Or perhaps because very few players stick to 1 server (server hopping, alt+f4)? Or maybe because no one uses in-game voice/text (seems like I'm only one)? I’m older now and take video games for what they are…. games. I don’t rage when 1) a survivor who is being chased by 6 zombies decides to shoot me as he runs by instead of dealing with his zombie problem first or 2) when someone gives away their position to both every player around us as well as zombies trying to shoot me as I'm the one running from 6 zombies. I find it interesting that in both cases, the player considered me more of an immediate threat to him than anything else going on around him. I understand he has the right to play however he wants to – just as I do. That randomness and free will makes this game exciting! In both cases, both the other player and I ended up dying because of their actions, and in both cases I laughed. I truly did. I have a handful of similar stories to that too, so that isn't a one-time occurrence. Personally, other players killing me isn't my biggest complaint, but for others it is. But it all comes back to the question of WHY did those players think to come after me first? Why are human players so afraid of other human players in this community? I understand that end-game roaming around just for food and drink is boring, and so it’s more exciting to face off with a human being instead of a twitchy AI. I get it. In fact, I think the PvP elements are required for long-term re-playability of this game. Easy games get old fast. A tough as balls game has you coming back for more. In the current state of things, the kind of gameplay I think would be amazing cannot exist I don’t think because of alt+f4, serving hopping, and EXTREME lack of player communication. This thread isn't aimed to "fix" those issues as those are purely on the player. A developer can't force a play-style onto a player. That's up to the community to decide. Whatever happens, happens. And so my next question is, does anyone know of a server where some light roleplaying takes place in? One where maybe people would actually try to communicate instead of going rambo on the zombie apocalypse and players with flashlights/hatchets? I guess my bottom line tl;dr is, has the shoot-on-sight policy always existed or is that something that evolved due to some reason or another? Also, is there a roleplaying server out there that's perhaps not always shoot-on-sight where me and my friend would be welcomed in? Sometimes cooperation is nice, sometimes it's not. I just wish people would give me a chance to explain myself :)

    evolution of shoot on sight?

Yeah, but how would a global chat all the sudden remove that? As That Cat and others have said, it only introduces another ring in which bandits and survivors can wrestle in.
  19. The thread you're looking for: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/8374-your-stupidest-death/ :P great story though :)

"Hey, I just shot you" - Call Me Maybe ft. DayZ

Fucking lulz. I love the chorus.

    1.7.2.3 Brought Dupping

I think this is a bug and it does not always seem to occur. Earlier today I found an ALICE pack at the grocery store of Zelenogorsk and when I moved my items from inventory into bag every item I moved got dupped without me noticing it was happening. It's a shame all I dupped was food, drink, bandages, and ammo for guns I didn't have :P
  22. He's probably talking about VOIP. I doubt VOIP is intended gameplay, or else we'd be able to send /whisper to our buddies in-game from anywhere on the map.
  23. If that's what it takes for us to be able to play a build of the game we can actually test and give feedback on, I would be all aboard that idea as well. I hope Rocket moves fast enough so no one rips his idea off from under his nose.
  24. dreman04

The threats in this game no longer exist.

From what I read, no one is acting entitled to anything. We were just pointing out some bugs as part of alpha testing the mod. Having twice the number of zombies spawning because you and your buddy are both triggering the spawn somehow is annoying. Slows the game more than intended and prevents us from further testing the game. I for one would like some bugs prioritized over adding/changing additional features. I can't test the entirety of the mod when I'm being held back so hard by bugs.
  25. It's with intentions of moving towards a game. As part of the alpha testing it's our job to give feedback. I don't think hiding behind the "it's a mod" excuse is helpful. Even if Rocket knows these issues exist, it can't hurt to let him know what and how we're experiencing these bugs so fixes for them can be made in the future.
