Daytime = Frames @ 1-5; Nighttime = Frames @ >40
galhast replied to no idea's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
if that was the case, then we should be seeing way more people complaining about unplayable FPS. As far as I can tell, some people just don't have FPS issues, whereas others have them really badly. I'm sure the server does affect FPS, but only to a degree. My brother never has them, neither do my friends, but I'm still struggling to keep the game running smoothly (even though I should run it fine on my machine) -
I've been having this issue as well. I've tried everything. I got a few more frames by running a ramdisk with structures.pbo, anims.pbo and chernerus.pbo, using gamebooster and overclocking my CPU. But it's still not what I'd call playable (12-20fps)

I'm sick of having unreliable FPS in high PVP areas. I manage to get from kamenka to the northwest airfield okay, no encounters or FPS issues, but once I'm in the airfield the game runs like a dog. I get into the firestation, hear gunfire and wait in the darkness. Some guy runs around the corner, I unload my AKM into him, but as I'm firing the game's running so slowly that not a single bullet hits him and he nails me with a headshot from his rifle. I mean what the fuck? He didn't even know I was waiting for him. Every time I'm in a city and I have to fight someone, I lose out because I just can't coax my character to move fast enough. It's not just a visual lag, like a low FPS, but I'm also having to deal with a delay in the controls - the game isn't crisp and responsive, they're painfully slow. What can I do to fix it? I'm back. This is a list of things I've done to optimise my game. 1. Installed XP 32 bit, kept it nice and light with no unecessary processes 2. Increased ramdrive to 1.7 GB, keep the highest use .pbo files in there for easy access. This leaves ~1.6gb available for DayZ. It doesn't seem to use any more than this even without a ramdrive, and the remaining space for system processes. Little wasted memory this way. 3. I keep my pagefile/OS running on one drive, and the remaining game files on the original hard drive. Both are regularly defragged. I don't get any stutters with this setup. 4. I overclocked my CPU to 2.25ghz, which is the highest stable frequency it can run at. No heating problems or system instability. 5. I went through the optimisation guide suggested in the previous post, though I can't say I noticed any real changes in performance. My GPU runs at about 35-40% capacity regardless. No noticeable changes when I overclock my GPU, or if I bring the settings up high. The only things that seem to affect FPS are PPE and shadows. Other settings have very little change on my FPS. 6. I run gamebooster when I start it up to halt unnecessary services. 7. Finally I make sure the game is set to realtime priority. I also use the following start up commands: -nosplash -cpucount=4 -exThreads=7 -winxp In chernogorsk I get about between 9-15 fps. This is a noticeable improvement, as now it averages about 12fps, when before it was around 8. I'm hoping to squeeze more performance out, however, and theoretically I should be able to. It also seems DayZ specific because in singleplayer OA cherno gives me around 60~fps. I realise this points heavily to my processor bottleneck (and yes, it's maxed out at 50% every time I play it, so I am aware the low FPS is related to my CPU) but I'm seeing people with similar systems to mine reporting no bottleneck issues, and 20-30 fps in chernogorsk. Still hoping for a miraculous command or fix to bring it up to scratch :( I just hope that the standalone will be able to use my whole quad core. In regards to the comments in the previous post, what I meant was that my fps was so low (<10) and my characters movements were so jumpy resulting from that, that I was not able to fire in time even though my shot was lined up. A few frames after I start firing, I'm dead. I didn't mean I was experiencing desync or fighting a hacker.

Sick of hackers? Then stop whining and help fight back.

Today, I played for about three hours on NZ 2. In those three hours, everyone on the server was teleported together into the wilderness, tournamented, given a full set of gear with, only to be tournamented again, and then a third time. At this stage, everyone playing this game is either a hacker, a cherno sniper/noob camper, or a complete masochist. -

9999 pings across the board, missing servers...
galhast replied to SwagNYC's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can confirm this. Really annoying to get kicked off a server with a vehicle and not be able to recover/save it cause the server ain't there -
Then how do people respond so quickly in game? Seems that 9/10 times whenever I see a player they kill me in 1-2 frames for me... long before I can wrestle with the game to point my gun at them from this Some people obviously aren't experiencing this, and some are

PowerFlags: 1424 Enabled: Force throttling Allow batching Force half deinterlace Force scaling Decode Power Usage: 0 Situation: I'm running a 1gb ramdisk with the dayz folder, and some arma2 resources (chernorus.pbo, road.pbo, buildings.pbo) on it. I run gamebooster. I have nothing else open except for chrome with the map on my second monitor. I keep it on realtime priority. I even ran through an optimisation guide, but none of these things seem to improve the framerate. I get 16+ in forests, 12-16 in towns and 8-12 in cities. When I just come in, it's generally higher. As I play, the framerate degrades. It does continue to decrease throughout, but it usually doesn't decrease past the low end of those numbers (16/12/8 depending on where I am). Occasionally I"ll start the game and it'll run at 3-4 fps (and stay there), or at 40fps (and decrease), regardless of where I am or graphics settings. The game never uses more than 50% of my processor time (the max it can utilise), or more RAM than what is available. Changing video settings from higher to lower (or vice versa) seems to have -no obvious effect-. This is very strange and indicates the graphics card is not bottlenecking the system. Sometimes, however, changing a graphics setting can snap the system awake and cause the FPS to shoot up, even if all I did was turn the AA onto max. Generally though, it returns to those normal levels. Edit: I notice significantly higher framerates, depending on how dark it is. Pitch blackness has the highest FPS. Midday is the slowest. -
What was your most annoying/worst death in DayZ?
galhast replied to Pureevuls's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Whenever someone server hops to spawn behind me, and shoots me in the back. -
I was chilling in the bar in elektro with my buddy, upstairs, in the loot circle (opposite the store and the office building). We were upstairs, he was looking downstairs from behind the railing, and I was watching the office building windows in the room to the right. Suddenly some guy spawns upstairs, runs out of the hallway, obviously sees me and guns me down with his revolver. He took me down to 3500 blood, and I was knocked unconscious for 10 sec. After bringing me down, he was shot by my compadre, and retreated to the hallway, out of LoS. As the unconscious timer ends, I still have 3000 blood, so I was feeling pretty lucky - he hadn't shot me since the initial few hits, so I could roll out to safety before I bleed out. As the timer disappeared, my character started trying to bring himself off the floor, but fell back down. Then got up, fell back down. Then got up, fell back down, and then proceeded to do it again. I could -not- control my character, he could not roll, or shoot, though I could look around. While this is happening, the guy comes back, shoots me in the head, before getting popped by my buddy. Is this repeating 'getting up then failing' animation loop intentional? I can see a degree of realism in someone who was unconscious struggling to wake up completely and respond to the situation at hand, but as far as I can tell, when the unconscious effect ends, you should be able to regain control of your character, and not get stuck in place, flailing but unable to do anything. I have a feeling that if those animations did not play, and indicate clearly to the other player that I was indeed still alive but unable to react, then I wouldn't have gotten those risky last shots from him, and I'd still be alive with my battle rifle and full kit of gear. Where was I? Elektro. Which server? NZ 2. What was I doing? Attempting to take control of my character after the unconscious timer ends, but I ended up getting stuck in an animation loop which inevitably resulted in the death of my character. Now normally I'd have just run back to my body, knowing my friend has the upstairs of the house under control. But the server went down moments after, and my body despawned. But that's not what this is about. Yes, I'm mad. But I'm not that mad. I'm used to losing my gear by now, I just wanna know, is this animation thing intentional or no?
-
your kidding, right? just buy a new pc and it'll run properly? there isn't some kind of optimisation I can do beyond what's already done?

What was your last legit kill

Started a week or so ago. First time in berezino, had a winchester and a couple of basic tools, nothing substantial. I was looting the bar in the southern part of berez very quietly, as it was a populated server during the day. I snuck up to the second floor, and suddenly I heard a very faint 'pop-fizz' sound, followed by the sound of eating. Then I heard them again. I followed the sound downstairs to the back door, and sure enough I could see a couple of feet sticking through the wall. I saw him get up, so I aimed my winchester at the curtained door leading into the main bar, and waited. 15 seconds later, I saw him crouchwalk past the counter, turn behind it... I saw his gun poke through the door, and as soon as I saw a glimpse of his head, I fired then ran around the corner, which was a good move because I immediately hear four shots from his silenced SMG, which hit nothing. Then the sound of flies. Most exciting experience in a video game so far. -
Invisible concrete blockade: two dead, offroad written off
galhast posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Date/Time: 11:32 NZ time What happened: I was driving an off-road vehicle with my friend, after gathering plenty of fuel in a few towns near berezino. We were heading down the road from Dubrovka to Polana, past the gas station, and I could see a couple of piles of rubbish on the road. I slowed down some to drive past it, and when the vehicle was about two feet from the rubbish pile, a concrete blockade suddenly glitched into view on the side of the road I was driving on. Immediately I crashed into it, vehicle totalled, me and my friend die. Until the car was about a foot from the barrier, it was not visible at all (it wasn't hidden, it was literally invisible). Where you were: In an offroad, driving from Dubrovka to Polana, past the gas station. What you were doing: Driving an offroad, avoiding obstacles. *Current installed version: 1.7.2.3 *Server(s) you were on: US 621 *Your system specs: AMD Phenom 9350e Quad-Core Processor, 2.00 GHz; 4.00 GB ram; Winfast Nvidia 550TI video card *Timeline of events before/after error: After finding the mint condition offroad a kilometer south of Olsha along the road, me and a compadre drove to a spot north of Berezino to collect jerry cans. After refueling, we drove along the main road from the south of Berezino to the gas station, found another jerry can, and after driving slowly through the gas station we continue southwards towards Polana. This is when the crash occured. I see in the brief moment before I am thrown from the car I can see the textures changed to a written off car, then I end up outside the car with broken bones/shock/bleeding/pain/unconsciousness effects, and died moments later, followed by my friend. -
This happened to me too. I was in an airfield, but had to log out. I logged into the coast with no gear. I did what was suggested, press respawn and load a different server, and it worked fine for me, so this is confirmed to be a good solution.
