Chat doesn't work. I cannot communicate,
d.n.M. replied to qwertysoares's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You have to select direct communication and you have to be very close, like 40m, for it to work. -
One of our guys marked our camp (lots of tents, cars...) on the map thinking it was just a local marker for him :D
-
I have to say that encounters with DCers have decreased. More guys seem to man up.
-
go into catalst control center (dekstop right click) there should be something like 3d settings or game settings set everything to default or application control I can't tell you the exact steps as i do not have an ATI equipped machine at hand right now.
-
That is the point. You can talk to them when you are close though (direct com).

This is a setting in your catalyst control center. Revert them all to standard or application controlled. I had the same issues.

I believe its the Arma Beta Patch and not DayZ. Now with it required all the ppl had to install it and are getting low fps. I've been having these low fps issues for some days, always playing with the latest beta patch. Dayz is using all 4 cores but 50-60% load tops. GPU is hardly reaching 30% load.

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
d.n.M. replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES but let people spawn on the whole cost (berenzino etc) -
absolutely fantastic! Zeds not attacking trough walls, thats awesome!

Well, no! There is a shortage of servers. The demand is greater than the slots available. Reserved Slots mean (in your example) 5 less slots for general players to play on. If the clan is not playing 5 slots are wasted. There is a long line of server owners waiting to get their servers online for dayz. If somebody is not happy with the current rules the next owner will happily take that spot. In the future this might get an option, for the time being it is not.

It seems you have not understood DayZ. It is not about killing all the Zeds, it's about surviving. If you don't have the ammo or a silenced weapon, don't engage or aggro Zeds where there is a risk of aggroing a full horde. This takes some patience but can easily be done. You can get in any barn, any building and any city without being spotted by zombies if you are patient and pick your path wisely. I do agree though, that sometimes the glitches force you to disconnect. I was in a military barack hiding in the shower :D because I wanted to avoid the confrontation with another player. He saw me anyways and instantly started to fire. I killed him aggroing the Zeds in the same moment. The started to hit me through the walls. I had enough ammo and could easily have killed them all, if they would have come through the door.

with so many servers and admins, there will always be some bad apples

never killed a survivor to date. Though got killed by survivors on separate occasions. Yesterday a just found an M4 CCO. Met to survivors, instantly went my way and left them. When i waited for a buddy they hunted me down. From now on I'll just shoot anybody coming close. It's sad, but the only trust I have left is for the guys with me on TS3. In my eyes this really spoils the game. Within the first days almost any survivor was friendly. You helped each other, shared stuff - great times. It seems that DayZ is becoming a deathmatch now.

it only works when it is dark!

Playing at night alone without NVG is hard. Playing at night in a Group is fun. The challenge is nice but can be managed in a squad.

Is it possible to test DayZ before buying ARMA?
d.n.M. replied to ghsdrhdrhdgh's topic in New Player Discussion
it requires arma so there is no demo, it's not in the hands of the dayz team just buy it, you won't regret it anyways -
If one logs out simple freeze his character for 30s. In this 30s he can be attacked, looted, whatever. A shorter duration is too short for the surviver to loot the body. It's not a big deal logging out in a safe place.
-
Nobody paid anything for DayZ. Sure, people paid for arma, but they are not banned from arma. The makers are busy enough, so if there are cheaters they get banned, end of story. If someone got banned for picking up loot, I'm sure this can be resolved.

Patch 1.5.7 and this being an Alpha and fucking zombie spawns
d.n.M. replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
KEEP the Numbers. If you are careful and stealthy you can stock up on weapons, just not with brute force. Looking at a city from a hill and instantly seeing 30 Zombies makes you think first. Thats how it's gotta be! -
If you kill someone who is not flagged as a bandit that is it. No second chances whatsoever. Don't get into that type of situation or deal with it!

Patch 1.5.7 and this being an Alpha and fucking zombie spawns
d.n.M. replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Great. All lamers, whiners and possibly lot's of bandits pissed by accident. Now there is a challenge. Now you have to rethink, regroup, replan. This game is now about survival, it is not about wandering around and practise shooting zombies. I guess the respawn time will eventually get fixed so there will be a chance to clear a certain area. If the zombie count gets more random (heavily infested areas vs low zombie frequentation areas) this will turn out perfect.
