    Player owned houses

Ok, i agree with what you guys are saying, you shouldnt be allowed to permanently "own" a house as long as you wish to play the game, but more in the sence that you "own" a car in the game. When you find one you decide if you want to put the effort into fixing it up/maintaining it. Finding a housekey and the matching house in this case would ask for an even bigger investment and making your dead even more regrettable.

    Player owned houses

Hello guys, I was watching the conference at Rezzed, and the part about player owned bases made me think about all the little sleeping towns that are on the Chernarus map. I know that at this point alot of players are gathering up loot in tent all along the edges of the map, ive actually seen campsites with over 20 tents in them. Which in my opinion is keeping alot of possible gameplay of the board, because unless you are willing to spend days on end looking tru all the vast wilderness out there you will never encounter such camps. Now, my suggestion is this. Would it not be possible for players to have acces to houses in the actual towns in Chernarus. There are Hundreds of little houses and sheds scattered across the map, some in towns that have nothing going for them apart from maybe a medium loot barn or a waterpump. How cool would it be if you and and your buddies would be able to take refuge in one or perhaps multiple houses in a town or somewhere remote in a forrest where there is a farm and some sheds. The houses would only have to have the most basic of layout, and there doesnt have to be any difference in layout inside no matter what size or look the building is looking from the outside. Taking this as a starting point, it could open up all sorts of possibilities, like maybe if you could find some pipes and a barrel in an industrial building you could improvise a watersourse by collecting rainwater. Or with a scrounged and impovised solar cell you could power the lights indoors and maybe even a fridge where you can store drinks and cooked meat, which you made made on the stove that you got working with the gas canisters that you found in some deserted shed/barn. You could even make it wood burnt, but the shimny smoke would show your building being inhabited. The possibilities are endless in my opinion. Ofcourse i dont know what is possible when it comes to programming but i would imagine it not being more difficult then having to program a players base that has been dug underground. The question of how one could aquire such a place as a player had me thinking for some time at work, but it came to me while looking for my drivers licence this morning. What if there is a slim chance that when you kill a zombie that spawned next to a building or shed, it could drop a house key, and by examining the body it would give you a chance to examin the zombies wallet/dogtags for an adress. Afterall these zombies are walking around these towns because they obviously lived there at some point in there lives, or near where you found them. The key would give you acces to the house the zombie used to live in, it would only be accesseble on the server where you aquired the key, and if you were to perhaps serverhop logging out in your homebase, the next server would spawn you nicely on the doormat outside on login. Whether or not the key would be on your lootable person when you are running around chernarus or be saved in a separate keychain that cant be looted i dont know. However, it would be epicly cruel if upon your death you would also loose your whole homebase with all its treasures lol. To sum it up. This way you keep all the items and players in a reacheble enviroment, you give players the added homebase option or even have them create a whole player owned community that they can fortify to keep bandits out, and you make it worthwile to start roaming through the little towns and farms all across the map. Sorry for this longass post and maybe countless spelling and grammer errors, i never intended to make it this elaborate, but once i got started i couldnt stop. Maybe this idea is worthless, i just wanted to share it with you guys See you in cherno!
  3. I have also been having problems with server/character and/or Hive being out of sync. Yesterday i spawned as far NE as possible on DE238 looking for tents and vehicles, when i was getting low on food, drinks. I decided to walk to Krasnostav to raid the supermarket, along the way visiting the Olsha Radio tower to see if the bike was there and lucky me it was sitting there nice and crisp. So i biked my way to the supermarket to fill up on provisions with the eventual plan to go to berezino and put my DRM to good use by providing newby survivors with some fresh bullits ;) I waited about an hour before the first survivors showed themselves and i got some action, killed one and the other logged off XD nothing new so far. After waiting another half an hour with some zombies moving in the city i had to take a quick bio, so i logged off to the lobby for easy login. When i got back i was about 2 hours back in time in frikkin Krasno! Food and drinks meters werent reset but my bag was missing all the cans i put in there before, the DRM mag i emptied in Berezino was also back in there. Also behind the bush where i initially left the bike at the point where i was raiding the supermarket was no Bike! I stopped playing then because i was afraid of what i could loose next, i would hate to see any of my shiny goodies be lost only to some dumb server error. Other then getting honestly shot over them :P Is this some expanded Extra Cruelty after 7.2.3 that wasnt in the patch notes?
