    What a h**king joke...

Oh look, a little nazi moderator. Getting off on bossing people around, eh? Well F U C K YOU. Let's see how many noughty boy points I get for this one. Maybe even all three? Oh dear. Moderator Notice: User was suspended for this post.
  2. I don't know where you are located, but stay away from managed hosters. They are garage operations ran by college kids. Go dedicated. Whitelisting will take time but in the end it's worth the wait and the money. But before you spend money, ask yourself: why do you want to host a server? You can't do anything about hackers. They don't show up in your logs. You can't password your server. You can't ban suspected hackers. You can't do anything. Ask yourself: why would you pay for that?

Hacking is getting out of control

    I took mine down.
  4. Too bad this game's security architecture is fundamentally flawed and none of those scripts will show up in server logs due to BE bypass. Might as well give up trying to fight the hackers. Nothing can be done to end hacking as long as DayZ relies on ArmA2 engine and BE. Well, apart from private servers.

Why you shouldn't buy a SERVER

I took my server down this weekend because you get nothing but shat on as an admin. Shat on by players, shat on by hackers and shat on by the DayZ team. I will continue to play but will not bother running a server anymore.
  6. I rent from Vilayer and my recommendation is to go dedicated. DayZ managed server providers do not have the resources to provide good service at this time. You'll avoid many a headache going dedicated.
  7. You run a business. You provide a service in exchange for money. If you are unable to provide the service due to limited resources, then that is your problem. I don't care how many tickets you get per day. I don't care how hard someone works. Work harder or hire more personnel. Or don't. But do not come here asking for "understanding" while taking our money. That's plain unprofessional.
  8. There's not much server admins can do about hackers who bypass BE. The security architecture of this game is broken and I doubt it can ever be fixed. Maybe ArmA 3 will be better.
  9. Can't recommend Vilayer. Don't know how they compare to other hosts though. - They have a very, very restricted control panel. They even allow only 4 MOTD lines. - Forced updates and restarts without warning. They don't bother updating the version number in your server's name so you end up advertising an older version while running a new patch until you fix it yourself and restart your server yet again. - 12h+ delays in patching, and when the patches come expect sudden forced restart that make your players lose gear - False advertising: their 24/7 support is more akin to "maybe get a reply in 48 hours" and their setup times are no where near what they advertise. - No customer communication whatsoever. Delays, problems? You'll hear about it from some guy on these forums who talked to the Vilayer guys on TS (yes, TS...) Don't expect emails from these people. - Overall unprofessional service. Plus the owners have day jobs. Vilayer seems to be some kind of a hobby for them.
  10. Not renewing my order after this month. Taking my money elsewhere. Crappy control panel, 12h+ delays in patching not to mention forced updates and server restarts with no warning (they don't even bother updating the version string in server name after forcing an update down your throat), nonexistent support, false advertising and overall unprofessional service. Guess this explains the cheap price.
