    Anti-aircraft weapon

No. Play some Ace/ACRE or Project Reality for this. I personally love the satisfaction in watching a stinger go towards a Black Hawk. -Explosion- Black Hawk begins to lose altitude, obviously lost rudder control if not all power, spiraling downwards with all living passengers unable to do anything but watch their fate unfold before them. This all being said, any concerted LMG/AR fire CAN bring down a slow moving chopper.
  2. Wouldn't make sense for Chernarus to have a hurricane.
  3. Guns are very loud. The Lee and all snipers will pull them in from about 200m or more. Yeah Shotguns are quiet, odd for them, maybe make them louder. ARs are pretty loud. They'll pull in ones from about 75m or 100m. Pistols are at good levels. Stop complaining about PVP.
  4. No. Guns are very loud as it is.
  5. Yeah, suggested a bunch. No comment to my knowledge. One issue I can see is what if a tent/sandbag/tanktrap/wire is around there?
  6. Yes. The mod NMRIH (Realistic Source engine Zombie fighting Co-op, real fun) has kids in it.
  7. Its not cool to say Rocket is a 5 year old kid and that DayZ is the work of a Kindergarten art project. Like seriously, I don't care how old you are, STFU or figure out how to make better analogies. I understand that you liked DAYZ back when it had just came out. Thing is that from those days DAYZ was always planned to be more then what you fell in love with. If you don't like where its going? Tough luck. If you can't stand broken features being added and then fixed due to player (your) feedback... don't play this alpha. This mod is the largest playtest of an ALPHA Concept for a future video game (think retail). Its new to the industry and honestly quite bitching in my opinion.
  8. Its artificial to NOT be able to read any form of body language. Beyond that its also artificial to be able to realize; "This is a game' date=' I'm just killing a few hours of a person's time, or stealing some good loot." Yes, you aren't traumatized by any act of murder, yes you can step back and act as if its a completely normal course of action. Beyond that you also have NO FEAR of anyone 'seeing your murder' and being able to recognize you the next day/time you are seen. Too many social aspects are NOT represented in our artificial apocalypse. If you kill someone and I see you. How will I recognize you later if there is little physical variation of people? Why do you hide your identity behind your toon's anonymity? How do you know you weren't witnessed? You don't. Assume you were. Agreed. There is no rule about being/not being a bandit. The bandit who stalks Cherno murdering people? He'd be renowned. Wether it'd be myth, legened, lore, w/e that small fractured society that exists after the end would continue to talk of his deeds. When that bandit says; "Waaah people hate me now and don't want to team up with me!" I lol. Own up brah. You decided to be the Boogey Monster. If you hear the heartbeat... well that bandit is doing something WRONG. You should be dead before you hear that. Basically, if you are a bandit you've ostracized yourself from majority of the populace. Deal. ??? Nah. Its actually very hard to keep a high negative humanity unless you are actively hunting people down. With the bandit skin it was bad. But the heart beat? Just don't get close to people and avoid anyone who you don't know till you burn off your negative humanity. :P Without the skins people were complaining about shooting on sight anyways. The mentality was, "Better him than I". Now with the Heart Beat mechanic there is a little more tangible reason to trust people. Always go for the kill. The game is full of ENFORCEMENT. You need: water food medicine to keep warm to be smart to be quiet to have street smarts to be good with a gun to repair vehicles to look for supplies Now, if you want a chance to be social with other players, you need to not make a 'name for yourself' by murdering everyone you see. Hell you can murder everyone you see but just position yourself in a place where you don't see a ton of people per play time (humanity ticks down relatively fast).
  9. The 'Survivor/Bandit' quandry is a little bit crass as its not fully fleshed out yet. However, its in the game and its a feature that Rocket is desperately trying to improve upon. Rocket feels that there IS a reason to differentiate between players who just 'Survive' and Players who go out of their way to kill others. This differentiation can have a number of backings; I personally like the 'abstraction' of body language and ostracization from what (little) society remains. Fact is this: Every action has a consequence to your character. You can choose to kill five people for fun/your own survival... but the consequence is that you will be 'renowned' for your deeds. Why can't you deal with that? Wear it as a badge of pride or something. Sheesh. Just because you are a 'shady' person doesn't mean EVERYONE will distrust you. But even if they do? Welcome to the result of your deed. You are now OSTRACIZED from close personal social encounters (ooooohhh nooooooo, like that happens often with people who you aren't TS'ing with).
  10. Eh. I think raycasting the sounds would be a better option. The point of the bandit skin... and even the concept of banditry... is to convey to another person that they are 'shifty'. It is a sort of abstraction of a ton of things that simply can't be implemented right now (or ever). Certainly it shouldn't be a wall hack, certainly it could use refinements... but I like it enough to try it out. Very few people are truly bandits, even then they are normally lone wolves or hunt in like minded packs.... IDK I like it in theory, haven't yet heard it in game. To all the people saying: "I don't want to punish the bandit play style." Its not punishment of any kind. Certainly nothing like bandit skin was. Its merely leveling the playing field for those with a little bit more morality than one who is known for back stabbing/ murdering anyone. In the end. Allowing a sense of trust between people means that the societal aspects will be able to be played out and that this can eventually evolve past a tough and expansive FPS to something truly truly unmatched and never before seen.
  11. With Melee weapons coming in... I think we'll have a lot of options. The main issue with the 'naked' spawning was the lack of generic spawns.
  12. No thanks. Not in this version at least. Dead means dead.
  13. I'm having no issue with drink. Though its significantly more uncommon... the issue I'm having the most is food...
  14. Lol its pretty funny that he's claiming responsibility for this script hack. All those hacks of his have been around for years! One I heard that while people were playing PR:ArmA2 they got teleported somewhere, and this was a 100 player server, and all had RPGs in their crotches. Another time I was poofed into a rabbit. Hilarious really. w/e No need to rage about it. Just wait for these loops to get fixed.
  15. Not really worth while or reasonable. This all being said, I'm for traps and other low tech (really no tech) detection methods.
  16. Here's the deal. Its the apocalypse! How isn't it a death match? One time we had a group of four people and we were overwatching them for a good hour waiting them loot Vybor and head off towards the NW Airfield. I call out; "Group of Four PRONE NOW!" and they do. Then I say; "Alright so lets discuss a little taxation here. You drop your primaries and move on." The start logging off. Here I tried to be nice, I offered them their lives when I didn't need to and they just game the game. Now? I pretty much shoot on sight if you are in our 'territory'. Sucks huh? Blame the loggers.
  17. Its literally a sandbox [game]. :P I thought that was appearant and not needed to be said. Sandbox as a 'genre' term.
  18. The Apocalypse wouldn't be a slow paced death match how? Seriously, I understand the urging for more direction and I'm certainly for it as well. But this game is literally a sandbox, its what we make of it that emerges the game play. In real life when people tend to die a lot moving to other locations they decided, lets not send people there any more. So what do you do? Find a group of people and make a camp. Claim a place of land and patrol it. Everyone thinks they need to raid the NW Barracks or Stary Sobor to 'win' the game. Thing is no. NW Barracks and SS are just confrontational locations. The risk of getting killed there is higher than anywhere else. In anycase this isn't a 'game' its a skeleton of an idea. A concept of certain gameplay elements. If you want to have an impact on where this game goes then continue playing, and beyond that, make an impact!
  19. Not myself but more than a few people who joined Dallas 27 last night got NVGs and GPSes that they never had had before. Don't know if the server 'cheated' and gave it to them or what... its not our server though. Date: 6-11-12 Server: Dallas 27
  20. Good fight tonight boys. We only returned fire... apart from the tree stand incident.
  21. Here's the thing. You're playing the game expecting something similar to L4D/KF maybe the nice mod No More Room In Hell. You're wrong. This game is about your survival, not some 'group' survival.
