I am going to be bringing my server, US1298, down at the end of its billing cycle. My reasons are below: The hacker problem. Hackers have been plaguing my server for far too long. They have run amok for far too long sucking all the fun out of the game. They bypass Battleye with programs that are easy to find with a quick google search. With no tools to protect my server I feel like it is not worth throwing $50+ to support an infrastructure that is rife with cheaters of the lowest caliber. On top of that the apathy of the Dev team and the punitive atmosphere against server admins like myself has made the game no longer fun. With the Dev team silent on the issue of dealing with the hackers and the blatant abuse of my servers by these hackers I can no longer justify paying for an empty server. So this is the end of my support for this game. I loved this game. I really did. I wish there was no hacker problem so I could continue to love it and support it. It was the zombie game I always wanted. But the game has become getting really good gear only to lose it to a script kiddie with a hacked gun and the ability to teleport. So I am going to let my server expire. Maybe the Dev team will do something to change both their policy towards Admins like me and take care of the hackers. Then I may come back. All I wanted was to provide a fun server where I knew the admin would not abuse his authority and provide the community a fun place to play. A constantly dead server and an infestation of hackers with no way to keep them out was my reward. So long, and thanks for all the beans. It was fun while it lasted. Hunted1 out.

Yeah, really we server admins are being treated like shit. We have no power to hand the smackdown to hackers. And we pay for this "privilege". Look I got a server so I could help build the community and play on a server where I could ban hackers with glee. But I have no tools to find out who the hackers are. I am not going to ban people for suspicion of being a hacker. I want solid evidence before I ban people. We need more support from the dev team. They may think that we are privileged to host their game but they are the ones privileged to have us donate our time, energy and money to their game. Dev team, get your priorities straight. I follow your rules, so stop making us pay for your infrastructure when we can't even be allowed to fight back against the hackers.

There are tons of hackers ripping up my server. The problem is that without information on who could be hacking I can't ban anyone. We get a hacker coming in almost every 4 hours and they kill everyone and then leave. I hate having to allow these hackers to ruin the fun of everyone involved because they want to be little trolls. So here is my idea. Enable a function that will show the kill log. Who died and by who/what. This would be best in the Rcon but in game would be ok too. It would allow admins to find out the hacker's identity and ban them. I know all I need is a name and I can clean up my server of all the hacker trash. I want only legitimate players in my server and hackers ruin all our fun. It is like I have two hands tied behind my back trying to keep things clean. I know there are some of you who will point out that this will enable admin abuse but really, if this hacker problem is going to be solved then we admins are going to have to be trusted a little more. I follow the rules and I even keep my clan in line. It seems like the second the server gets over 20 players the hackers swoop in and drive everyone away. I would really like a little more ammunition to keep my server hacker free. If there is a way to do what I described already then by god I would like to know about it. I want to keep my server clean of hackers and the teleporting, invisible, vehicle spawning bastards are giving my server a bad reputation. Please let me strike back at them. Yeah, as a server admin I can tell you there is very little I can actually do to curb this hacker crap without knowing the name of the hackers. So I have to decide between having tags on and thus killing the surprise of getting ambushed or letting the hackers run free. This is quickly becoming not worth paying for. And yes, I do pay for a server and if I get killed that is fine when it is legit. Hackers are spineless losers and if I die to them I am not very happy. My server is quickly becoming hacker central and I may just shut it down than get a poor reputation. Hear me Rocket!? These hackers are getting out of hand. I can deal with the glitches. I can deal with the artifacting. I can not deal with the hackers. They are killing the game and BattleEye is not keeping up. Three of them just cleaned out my server not 5 minutes ago.

I was on my server (US1298) and my team was getting attacked by an invisible player. He was shooting at us at point blank range with a silenced weapon. While we could not see him or his weapon we did see the smoke from his gun as he shot. On a side note to the hacker: You suck at shooting. You had my entire team dead to rights and still could not get a head shot. Keep hacking because a punk bitch like you sure as hell can't hit a target at point blank. If you are gonna cheat at least you could not suck as well. Now what I would like to know is if a "killed by ______" could be implemented so I can ban hackers like this. I know of no other way to sniff these losers out since I just took tags out of my server. Thanks. The thing is that most people don't shoot you for your gear, they shoot you for theirs. I won't take the chance that you will kill me and take my hard earned gear so I am going to shoot first and hope for the best but I am far more likely to hide when you come around. It is nothing personal but if you are not on my team you are a hostile. I will never shoot a guy without a gun though. If you pose no threat then I am not going to waste bullets on you. Others are not as nice though so my best advice is be careful and keep an eye out. -

We admins do not have the ability to do that. It is most likely a hacker who took over the server. -
I can confirm this problem. It does make the game unplayable and I am sure that the Dev Team knows about it and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as humanly possible. Diving through code is not fun. It is the worst kind of busy work. There is no need to battle each other. The Dev team was nice enough to make this an open alpha so that we could help in the developement of this game. In a way we are all a part of the team, just we are the play testers. Now we are reporting an issue that is big enough to more or less halt the production process. I can tell you that there is a reason we have not gotten word from rocket or anyone else. The are most likely elbow deep in code trying to find out what went wrong. Look, I am bummed out that I can't run around on my server and play. I am just as frusterated as you all. I also know that the Dev Team is frusterated too. More so than we will ever be. Because now all the things that they wanted to try are on hold because of one graphical glitch that is probably being caused by something as small as a single line of code. If you ever wanted to get a job as an Alpha tester well congratulations. Welcome to the developement process. I know it sucks but we should be rooting the Dev Team on! They know there is an issue and it probably was not evedent at the time of the patch. It didnt start happening on my server until about a day after I updated it. I was in NWA more or less since the patch was released. Come on DayZ team! We know you are trying to fix this issue! We are behind you all the way! Lets kill this bug!

I used to be just like you. I have no faith in anyone but my buddies. I will kill anyone who is geared up. If you are unarmed I will let you live and maybe help you out with a spare map. However that is where my kindness ends. I see you later with a gun and it is back to being the bandit this game has forced me into. At the very least I have rules for when I choose to engage. I will not kill unarmed players. I will not hunt the coast. I will never trust anyone who is not in my clan.

A few tips for new trigger happy players

As a sniper I can tell you this is all true. You shoot and we know where you are. You aggro zombies and we follow the horde. You go into elektro or cherno and you become target practice for the lesser (griefer) snipers. The best thing to do is not to shoot at all. Save your bullets for bandits and only use it on a zombie if it corners you. If you must shoot you will have, at most, a 2 minute window to relocate to a safer place before the sniper who heard your shot gets into position. At worst you have 5 seconds. Think before you shoot that bullet. -

There were two survivors in the supermarket in Zelenogorsk. I was providing overwatch and my buddies were moving up to market entrance. When I spotted them I put a round in the wall by their heads to scare them off. They were newly spawned with Lee Enfields that they probably got at the market. They ran into the back room and I was sure they were going to run off but instead they tried to poke their head out and take shots at my buddies. My first murder in the game ever was when one of them poked their head out to take a shot and I planted a round in his forehead. Since then I have been a bandit. If they only ran away they would have lived. They had to stay and fight with a sniper with a clear shot. It was too easy to take them out. Poor guys.
