IF this was an actual game...

-Game purchase only a la Guild Wars 2 style (with maybe cosmetic ONLY items that have 0 impact on gameplay and nothing more) -Studio Developed -I think have a mixture would be awesome but preferably studio. -Yes to Kickstarter. Couldn't hurt.

Don't patronize me Ravin, you look like a cunt. I'm going to post the rules to hosting an admin here from the main thread under server discussion. - IT MAY NEVER BE PASSWORDED - NO OTHER KEYS OR MODS. NONE. PERIOD. - NO KICKING TO MAKE ROOM FOR 'FRIENDS' OR CLANMATES - NO LOCKING THE SERVER - NO EDITING DAYZ/MISSION FILES - IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO UPDATE YOUR SERVER TO THE LATEST VERSION OF DAYZ -BATTLEYE MUST BE ENABLED - Minimum slot count of 40 (30 for countries where bandwidth is expensive i.e. developing countries) - Their are only two reasons why you, as a server owner, should ban a player on your server. Those two reasons are: Malicious talk, and racism. You may not ban a user for stealing your loot, killing you, spying on you, etc. - You may only kick for disruptive behavior (such as continued VOIP over side channel). But you may not kick due to race or language or because the person does something you do not like. - Kicking for extremely excessive ping or desync is permitted, but if abused is grounds for blacklisting Failure to adhere to these rules will BAN YOUR SERVER'S IP from DayZ This specific server passes all of the criteria listed above. It has nothing to do with twisting it in a favorable way. At this point though I really don't have the willpower to keep up with this thread constantly and I also don't feel obliged to defend the admin. If he wants to put in his input then that's cool but it's his problem now. Look forward to seeing how this pans out.

If by "reading" you mean that you can see our names at the bottom of the page, that's because a lot of people will leave tabs open for a while when they might actually be afk or doing something else. I just happened to check back here a few minutes ago. Nobody here is being a hypocrit, could you quote the exact text of people being contradictory? Again, where exactly did I claim to know more than everyone else? By making a point? No one likes a straw-man argument so stop with shoving words down people's mouths. You trying to claim superior intelligence is also silly and irrelevant. Finally, which of my information is half-informed? The ToS says nothing on server downtime, nothing. That's a straight fact.

You do realize not everyone has infinite free time and can browse the forums endlessly correct? Apparently if you're not on for a few hours you're speechless. Anyway, you would still have to prove that the server is shut down specifically to guard loot which you'll have a difficult time doing. As of now you are doing exactly what you say you don't do: making baseless assumptions. Have you even played on the server yet or did you just grab your pitchfork and torch because of one person's post? The guy who complained is more than likely biased and upset because of server downtime and throws accusations based on partial anger. And no, your care cup is not empty if you continuously post here. If you didn't care you wouldn't post. And to the people who don't know how blacklisting works: the server wouldn't get outright banned for doing something not against the ToS. At most it would get a warning and that be would that. I honestly wonder how many people in this thread even played on the server and how many just look for trouble because of boredom.
  5. I'm assuming that cup is for all of you? If you're going to just harass people gtfo. Thank you kindly. OK, now this is just getting ridiculous? Can people really be this dense? No it doesn't give the clan and ONLY the clan a huge advantage. Everybody, every single person, who plays on the server receives the exact same benefits as everyone else does. Are you have a lone wolf with a camp set up on the server? Well congratulations you're in luck. Stop bitching and do something else. It's not a violation of the ToS as of now and that's all that matters. Stop trying to twist this into some of argument against the admin. If the dev team feels this is a problem they will deal with it. Thank you kindly.

You act as if the clan couldn't defend themselves without the admin. Everyone here is claiming the reason for the server take down is to protect the camp. Even without an admin many people would still gladly play on the server, hell we would most likely see people on 24/7. So no, there isn't some sinister reason for doing this (no matter how many times people claim that there is). Just because you keep saying something repeatedly doesn't make it more true. Again the ToS is not on your side here, sorry.
  7. I've explained this too many times in the other thread. No, taking a sever down is not (bolded it so that some people may actually understand) the same as locking it.

This is completely false. The reasons for temporarily shutting down the server has been stated numerous times, so at this point if you refuse to understand you're just being difficult. Even if the server was never taken down I guarantee you there would be plenty of clan members still wanting to play through out the entire day so losing gear clearly isn't the issue. Turning off a server is completely legitimate. The only issue is that occasionally the admin doesn't get on and the server stays down for longer than intended unfortunately. There wasn't a single coherent argument in that post. "Sad" doesn't constitute a point, neither does anything else you posted. Also flaming by calling people idiots adds nothing to the discussion here.
  9. Now your tactic is denial? I'm a judge in the sense that I've read the ToS and know what's allowed and what's illegal. And I can tell you the the terms of service do not mention shutting servers down whatsoever. Your just claiming it does which ironically means you're doing exactly what you are saying I'm not allowed to. Clearly you haven't done enough research as nothing you say has any basis in reality. That being said I feel sorry for you. I couldn't imagine being able to be so stressed out over a menial thing such as a single server in a video game. Most people would move on to a different one if they found it not to their taste, but you on the other hand have a misplaced sense of vengeance. My advice: Chill out and move on. Getting so worked up over things like this will beget you a heart attack before your 50.
  10. I'm not going to bother arguing with you in this thread since we eviscerated your argument in your other thread. Keep trying though!

I'm truly glad you keep proving me right with your being dense and all. First of all it doesn't favor a specific group because while the server is down anyone else not apart of the clan also receives the same benefits. Your gear is also protected from hackers while it's down and not just GMS. So no there is no inherent advantage. Secondly, the only reason the server would be shut down is if it was going against the ToS. What you described is not. There's no way to argue around it mate.

I literally just explained how they are completely different a few posts above you. Did you even read that?

Glad you ignored the rest of my point, but then again being obtuse is a favorite tactic of people who know they're wrong. Taking down a server isn't against ToS. Period. You're wrong. However just to make you feel slightly better, yes sometimes it is down for longer than usual. This affects everyone, even those in the clan. There is no advantage for the clan in this regard. But at this point you're just clawing for arguments.
  14. No, you're just being unnecessarily annoying. Aside from that, you're flat out wrong. Taking down a server occasionally is not against the ToS, locking the server is. They're two completely different things.

Where in the Dayz Servers thread does it say you cannot take down a server periodically? It explicitly states that you may not lock a server. Taking it down for a short period of time =/= locking the server. When a server is locked a few people can still play while simultaneously preventing others from joining. This can be seen when servers have 4 players or so on but is disallowing others from logging onto it. Locking a server is an advantage because you can simply go raid high-value areas safely due to the lack of hostile players. However when you take down a server nobody is on. You can't go around safely obtaining loot because you, as well as every single other person, cannot go on. The server goes down during dead-time when there's practically nobody playing anyway, and not just whenever a GMS player isn't on. By taking taking it down for a short while/restarting every six hours it increases frame rate and decreases the likelihood that a hacker will screw over everyone. Don't try to demonize a server when you have no idea what you're speaking about. Also, don't be a condescending prick to people making legitimate arguments as it makes you look like an obnoxious person.
