I completely agree. Value for you character is needed. Folks in the real world are more careful because if they mess up it is over. In Day Z it is just a delay. I think making things like a broken leg require time to heal. As well as, mentioned by Rocket, bandaging being more of a temp fix would add a lot. In general Death and Risk has to be a real factor in the game. It is not right now.

I do not see having a tent much different from keeping your gear after death. It removes the survival factor from the game, which was the intent of the mod. Makes it too similar to other FPS where you die and respawn with gear. There is no value to your character other than their gear as of right now. Lose you gear you are truly starting over. Have a stash somewhere? Then death is just a slight inconvenience. It is just too much of a safety net from permadeath as it is, and removes the risk of encountering or doing most anything.

The standalone will also be an Alpha build at release, so there will be issues then as well. I would not expect it to be at a full retail state for at least another year.

Other than hoping they get bored, there is not much else that can be done about skiddies. I take solace in the fact they are getting ripped off by those supplying them with scripts now.

If you hit ALT+F4 in that situation I would think that would still work, even if the menu is disable for some reason.

Rocket's most recent release mentioned, is by the end of the year. November will be hopeful, but less likely. If I recall correctly he said End of year what ever state it is in. Something to that effect.

The best we can hope for as a standalone is before end of the year, what ever state it is in. That could be as late as December. (Sep/Nov releases have little to no chance of happening) As far as worth buying. Take advise from those who mention Playing ARMA without the mod. If you think you will enjoy that, get it for sure. There are plenty of game play videos for it you can find. It also depends on your expectations and patience levels. The problems in the game are pretty annoying right now. While some can handle them others cannot. Only you know what you can take. If you play, play it for the fun and have no attachments. Best of luck in your decisions. :D

I think it was a good call. Some business decisions made by companies are often not completely understood from the outside. But those decisions can make or break the development of a product. I wish you well on the development, and hope it does not burn you out.

I think the eventual plan is to have clothing help protect you from weather/ environmental effects. There is also suppose to be a new UI for the inventory system as well. I do hope for more survival options in the future.

It would be neat if if were possible to set traps with these as well as grenades. One video I had watch had some guys speeding off in someone else's car, unknown to them that someone else had set a trap on the road ahead consisting of 2 satchel charges.

It is something currently associated with hackers, as they do it more often than not, so it would be wise to consider that first. Also depending on the server settings you might not even be able to log on if using the skin.

I think if the environment is controlled as did in Hunger Gamez it would limit the amount of downtime. But then again, even with a lot of downtime folks eat up watching streams and videos of Day Z.

I think it is possible. The Hunger Gamez while buggy as heck, proved to be very entertaining. I think in the last interview with IGN it brought up as well. I imagine when the mod goes to the community we might see more development in tools to make this work even better.
