    Itemization and Private Hives

A buddy and I jumped some dudes with a black SUV and to finish them all off I grenaded the thing since we thought it was a hackermobile. <_< Oops.

    Lingor Island Prison

What the heck are you whining about? He had ammo to spare, wtf do you care if he was just headshotting zombies? The shit people complain about.

    DayZ is out of control.....

In the 3 months since I started playing I've been killed 4 times by hackers, attacked unsuccessfully twice and have actually managed to kill two of them on one occasion. (They're usually shit players to begin with, hence the hacking) Keep at it, learn where to go when, make plans and weave outs into them in case shit goes awry and, honestly, don't get attached to your gear. The stark reality of the game is that YOU ARE GOING TO DIE. Your character is mortal and every other character is equally empowered to end you with one mouseclick. Learning how to gear takes away your attachment to 'things' and lets you focus on the experience. But everyone knows it's bad right now with hackers. Everyone knows anyone could be a hacker, scripter, whatever. Point is, once you get past that bullshit the game is fucking brilliant. If you stick it out, you'll see man. The hackers are bad, we all know, but the good things about the game outweigh the few bads.
  6. You can have my beans for this story. But you deserve tits

    Humanity

I take it humanity persists through death? Cause that super-increasing dealy will quickly mean astronomical scores that could eventually just be too much for the servers to keep track of. It'd have to go away on death for anything even remotely like OP's post to work.

    Remember, no Whitelists

    Yep. Alt-F4 don't fix a headshot.
  9. DayZ - US 2190 Aug 22 2012 @ 0235 CST (-6 GMT/UTC/Whatever) At approximately 0235 CST (-6 GMT) August 22 2012 I was playing on server 'DayZ - US 2190 (v1.7.2.5/Beta 95417)' I was teleported after exiting the southern corner of the NW Airfield when I experienced a strange jolt from my PoV. I immediately began sprinting, alt-freelooked behind me to see what appeared to be a bandit-skinned player holding some manner of scoped rifle pointed at me. At which point, I aborted out to the lobby. There were two other players on the server. One named Joker, the other name I didn't think to remember in my highly startled state. A little background. I logged onto the server and it was almost dead anyway - I play late and like to make use of the NVG's I risked my tail for and low pop servers seem less of a magnet to hackers but I digress. Back on topic. I'd been running a route about the the towns south of NW Airfield when around Pogorevka someone whose name escapes me was kicked for scripts. This put me on my guard. Shortly after near Pustoshka I noticed someone named Joker on the server. Okay, cool, whatever. People log into servers, no big deal. He eventually aborted out to the lobby somewhere between there and Vybor and just remained. Until I continued north, where upon entering the southernmost barracks I noticed he'd logged back in and someone else was joining. I continued on, though I was expecting someone to teleport on top of me at any moment. (I've seen videos, naturally paranoid, etc.) Not wanting to be greedy and get burned, I exited the airfield promptly and that's where the hacking went down. I was teleported, apparently, somewhere north of Elektro into a big field far from cover where I saw my would-be murderer just pointing a rifle at me like I wouldn't notice. By the way, thank you to whomever you are for having such slow reflexes that you didn't get me before I aborted. And if your goal was to scare me, f you. Bricks were only halfway shat. And for those of you that would advocate me trying to kill him, na, I'd rather not risk my gear against him having god mode on or whatever. I may have bailed like a chickenshit but at least I robbed them of their jollies and left them with mildly rustled jimmies. Also trying to contact the admin there, just to see that the server's made safe from crap like that in case he doesn't read these. Possibly to get a log for actual evidence beyond my testimony since I only just now thought to report this like a moron. Anyway, thanks for your time and sorry for the long post. I tried to recall every detail as best as possible without giving you a novel. Edit: Not proof - Hacks documented by others and perpetrated by someone named 'Joker' http://dayzmod.com/f...-be-ban-worthy/

    Vehicles outside map boundaries

    This guy.
  11. Seems like it's working as intended, huh! I noticed the same effect when linking up with a friend I've been playing with the first time. In fact, I feel I should clarify. We've been playing games for years, he and I and usually use Ventrilo to communicate. I turned a corner in a fairly far-off-from-spawn town stopped when I saw him and waited and he wasted no time shooting me in the face because I was holding an axe and looking at him. Jumpy!
  12. The high risk of the game is why, I believe, everyone just starts out on an equal footing as far as the character's 'capability' is concerned. Which, honestly, I don't know how anyone can take the character for an ultra-capable genius. Just about anyone who isn't an useless lump (The same type that is quickly culled by the zombie apocalypse) can manage to survive some span of time into the zombie apocalypse. Through luck, skill or simple resources. Doesn't mean they're unstoppable badasses or anything since, uh, an unstoppable genius badass would probably have the ability to at least slow a zombie down long enough to escape it on open ground. Or defend themselves to some extent without a weapon. Or not freeze to death up on a mountain slope in the night. Or be able to improvise some method to stop bleeding, fix a broken bone... The game is about the mere mortal, pitting player versus player. Your skill rewards you with better equipment, possibly affiliations and ultimately a longer life. Nothing more. Besides, new players have to struggle just to find a crappy gun to fend off their peers and, later, bandits. Why pit them against a character that not only has a tremendous advantage of resources(supplies, weapons, allies) but also a sharp advantage in their survival skills? It doesn't work and, I think, it's too harsh a punishment toward skilled and more casual players than it is the hardcore who just want to or simply can sink more time in. Trust me, it's better this way. Else, it may as well turn into FPS-Eve Online, with new weapons and gear requiring increasingly time-consuming skill ups and folks banding together under super-equipped and skilled pirate kings, occasionally ursurping each other's rule and hold on territory. Stealing from and killing anyone unwitting enough to enter their domain, etc etc. Then again, maybe that appeals? I dunno. But even Eve isn't as all-or-nothing as Day Z. You at least don't get reset to 0 even if you get podded in Eve. Unless you're an idiot and didn't keep clones. But I digress. As to the beach, it's a convenient and broad area to spawn people, bare enough of resources and exposed enough to convince you to move on somewhere else.
