You're right if it was a perfect world we would be on one large server, however that is not a posability. If it was and there were say... only 5 large servers that would be a perfectly legit answer however there are easily 100+ servers out there. Its more a matter of being able to enjoy the game the way I would like to as well as helping others. As for preventing the abuse by taking away our weapons that makes no sense, I have yet to be shot at or shot another player while on the [TMW] medic list, being on that list means that I am a respectful and trustworthy player that the DayZ community can contact in the event that they would like a little help.

Would this change (hive tracking login/logout) effect those that server hop as medics to help other players out?

Regular servers allow you o see yourself on the map where as veteran servers do not. Chances are you moved to a veteran server.

I don't think something physical should happen to the player if they kill other players, simply because in real life people like animals will form packs and kill those not of their packs out of need for security, protection, and want. There is no real way for this game to take into account the human emotion that goes into taking a life or the effect of it. Many people could care less about taking another humans life as long as they feel it is justified in their own minds. While I am not a fan of Bandits I do understand why players may choose that route, why go look for loot when I can just take it off the guys that just picked it up and ran off the airfield? That may be a real world reason or simply its because its a game people will do it because they think it is fun to grief other players. Either way games are not real life and there will never be a way for people to feel any real emotion toward taking the "life" of a video game character. Now as for an in game idea which this post is about I actually think a system of notoriety should come into play. I.E. the more players you kill the easier it is to find you as a bandit, kind of like the white dots people see for Zeds, now before people flip their lid over it obviously it would have a limited range (that way players don't just instantly know where you are and hunt you down from all four corners of the map you when you join a server) and everytime you perish your slate is wiped clean. *Edited Continuation* The justification for the visible "dot" would be that like any other story/game out there bandits will stake their territory and rarely venture far from it, which to me makes perfect sense.

Yes but like all games you have to balance the casual and hardcore aspect. Hardcore players can rip me all they want but I am sure plenty of them have tents. I personally don't because its a pain the butt running to a tent just to regear, not to mention you have to continue filling the said tent. -

I think you should also take into consideration what role you want to play. Some people want to play as bandits, or just to loot and store gear (even if you do feel that is a carebear mechanic it still takes time to even amass anything decent) some server hop and provide people with medical attention, others will raid town or airfields in overwhelming numbers. The zombies right now are there to create a sense of story for the players as well as add a second obstacle to any movement you make (ie raiding the NWAF where people know bandits will always be and trying to dodge the zombies while also not getting picked off) In reply to a comment made earlier about having zombies in the woods... that wouldn't make much sense unless you found survivor camps. I don't really think zombies would be that far out unless they were in ones and twos. -
This is honestly all just left up to instinct. The only problem is this game like most others has no real impact to dying. Yeah you lose your gear but you get to come back again, and again (I have still yet to play a game though so this is just from what I have read thus far in the forums.) That is to also say that those on their own wont survive long. Being a lonewolf is a horrible way to go, you are better off trying to find a group to be a part of and either helping/eliminating others.
