More players in a group, more zombies?
Adjta (DayZ) replied to sensity's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As far as I know, more zombies shouldn't spawn based on the people in the area, however more people can equal a greater chance of detection. If just one of you slips up, all of you have to start running. -
Vehicle Towing and Extraction
Adjta (DayZ) replied to Wentworth Miller's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If towing was implemented it would just make it easier for people to hoard vehicles. One good truck and one can tow all the vehicles to their secret lair in the forest, regardless of whether or not they put the time into scavenging for repair materials. The fuel costs would also be a moot point as jerry cans can be refueled at gas stations an infinite number of times. -
Primary: M4A1, ammo is a bit hard to come by but a good double tap puts down most targets Secondary: G17, damage is low but ammo is plenty. Flashlight is a bonus on night servers. Role: Spotter/Point man. Either role works for me. I can watch a sniper's back or lead the rush into a battle.

That actually is an odd point, I'm surprised I didn't notice it myself. Upon further thought, it is possible that the local populace was scared or desperate to get their loved ones out of the area. They may have felt that the military was taking too long. As such, they take up arms and try to break through the quarantine/checkpoints. The military was both shot up (explains uninfected dead bodies) and overrun by zed (explains military zed). For the military zed carrying guns, zombies don't tend to have very good fine motor control which makes it impossible for them to manipulate a gun.

Any tips to help stop getting lost?
Adjta (DayZ) replied to TylerDurden (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
-Remember that clouds move from west to east. -When you log on, see if the text in the lower right can give you any clues. -Look for the shape and type of buildings or land around you and try to match it up with what you see on the map. -Look for street signs along the roads. Translating them may be a slight pain in the ass but it can help. -Especially when spawning along the coast, look for lighthouses. Lighthouses on the map are basically little gray circles. Once you figure out where each lighthouse is and what is oriented around it, it becomes a breeze to move around the coast. -
being able to create a group , and then progressing within in that group
Adjta (DayZ) replied to MartinCB's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This idea has some merit as it makes it easier for groups to maintain order and avoid friendly fire. However, this would not encourage people to group up as one can just as easily snipe or heal people on their own. Your point about the camos/skins does make sense however as identification is a pain in the ass. -
Is killing other players really that fun?
Adjta (DayZ) replied to risto244's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Most people kill others because: a. They have a COD mentality of "ZOMG EVERYONE IS ENEMY BANG BANG I THINK I'M COOL LULZ!" b. They want your fancy gear. Occasionally overlaps with person A. c. They're paranoid because of fancy gear / encounter with person A/B. As you can see, person C only comes about when persons A and B enter the equation. Realistically, the only way to end banditry would be to maintain an optimistic view that players can be friendly. Try to avoid aiming at each other and lower your gun. Declare friendly but avoid giving up your position until they respond. Ask them to put down their weapon as well and NEVER let them out of your sight. -
That's what makes DayZ so brilliant. The mod is able to make you feel regret for killing somebody when you would otherwise feel nothing. In your case he was probably just trying to live a little bit longer. If he yelled "friendly" after the first shot and instead of after going down he would have had more credibility.

How to know if vehicles are on? Or are they on all servers?
Adjta (DayZ) replied to kyle939's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
CH means cross hairs. Vehicles should always be on, but there is a chance that a clan has already gotten the main ones and is hoarding them in their base. -
Yes because in real life, a bandit can log out of the world the moment I begin to shoot back.
