Exactly. Daresay the SA will be a wholly different game, except for the boring Chernarus map we have all played ad nauseam (no matter if it gets a polish for the SA). And usually I'm very outspoken with my critique on new features. Now I'm just facepalming over the total lack of sense for humor by many players. Immersion... guess they just use the word without knowing what it means.

Hi there. I am looking for an admin who would be willing to host a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. themed map (Namalsk comes to mind first) and port Icewindo's Stalker character models into the game. On my part, I pay server hosting charges for let's say three months and bring in lots of dedicated players to fill up the server. Anyone interested? -

The more I know of the SA, the less I'm looking forward to play it. So far it's only features that turn the DayZ gameplay upside down, but nothing that would give the wow-factor. Sorry, just my grumbling. -

They could have saved at least half their efforts... imo, apart from the water boiling/infection feature the rest is just a big step towards turning a tough and challenging game into a frustrating mess. -

Sorry but new patch this and that, interest in DayZ is vanishing at such speed that admins need to offer all kinds of things like better loadout, custom weapon loot table, no day/night cycle etc to attract a number of players large enough to justify all the shit and expenses associated with running a server. Without private servers this game would be dead already. -

LOL it's because Arma is made by Czechs and they put all kinds of Czech gear into the game. Even most inscriptions in Russian-speaking Chernarus are in Czech :D Tbh I think it kills immersion if you know Eastern Europe. -

Rocket is out of good ideas and he now less than ever appears to know the difference between "frustrating" and "challenging". Because all this new shit only makes the game more frustrating for no reason, and he can't think of any new content that would save DayZ from becoming totally senseless PvP. I hope some admins will keep his stupid ideas out of private servers. I'm rolling back to 1.7.4.4 now. -

I think I know which sites you mean, and if you follow those threads you can see the hacker "community" is very divided over this. Many hackers want to actually PLAY the game and rant at other hackers destroying it with Thunderdome, teleport kills and all that crap. Now if Rocket can't beat them he should join them. What he should do is this: talk to the real hackers who make and distribute the hacks (not the script kids). Instead of relying on BE which is seriously fucked up, he should caress their ego, tell them how awesome they are and ASK them not to screw the game through sharing the bad hacks like god mode, mass killing and so on. Maybe he could even employ them to work on protecting the game against such hacks. They would do a much better job than BE. He should also enable all the weapons that are currently only hackable, because what's the point in scripting them and thus risking one's CD key if they can be found the legit way? The game would also benefit from it. For example, all the crash site raids would become interesting again if there were new very rare weapons spawning. Now they are a bore with all the repetitive FALs and M14s and L85s. If reasoning fails, he could just shrug and continue his up-hill battle against hackers. But imo starting a dialogue would be worth a try. -

And what's that reason? Weapons like the G36 varieties or AK107s do not give you any advantage. Optics are the same, damage is the same, ammo is the same. The only weapons that could give you a real advantage are the Mk 17/SCAR rifles (silenced and scoped one-shotters) and they are not hackable. There's no "eierlegende Wollmilchsau" among DayZ weapons :) An AS50 TWS gives you an advantage - if you are a sniper at sniping. In any other situation it has more disadvantages than advantages. Try to score a hit on someone zigzagging in a forest and approaching you at a running speed of 40 km/h :)

True enough, that rifle is a beast but has some serious downsides as well. Like with any sniper rifle: if you don't hit your target from far enough and he becomes aware of your position and starts running and zig-zagging towards you, using cover wisely, you are seriously screwed.

M4A1 Holo SD - Legit?

Same underpowered rifle like M4A1 CCO SD Camo plus a horribly inaccurate grenade launcher plus marginally better optics. What's the big deal? -
It's the Sa-61, a Czech submachine gun. Hacked for sure and very weak. The legit PDW is far superior. You'd have a hard time finding ammo for it anyway. As to the KSVK - a good example why hacked weapons don't make any difference. I keep saying this all the time but here it goes again: all the hackable weapons have exactly the same stats like the legit versions and don't have any add-ons that would make them preferable. They fire the same 5.54/5.56 mm crap and come with the same scopes. When it comes to practicality, there's no difference at all between, let's say, a legit M16A2 ACOG or a hacked M4A1 RCO (or between an AS50/M107 and a KSVK for that matter).

Electro snipers are my favorite game. My best shot ever was a sneaky sniper on the roof of the hotel, taken down from about 900 meters. If I see anyone around spawning spots with a ghillie and long rifle my AS50 says hello. -

Whenever you sense something fishy is about to happen, disconnect. If fishy things are already happening, press the reset button. Don't try Alt-F4, that's sometimes re-mapped do to crazy things.
