Sad that this mod is meant to be a Zombie Survival RP mod, not just another DM mod, like almost 90% of the players are playing it in that way already. I think the best way to ensure that starters and players who want to play this mod more like an RP mod, won't get killed by bandits, snipers, douchebags, etc.. is to make spawn points everywhere around the map and not just on the coastal areas. This will make people spawn on the map in a wider radius, preventing "noobhunters" to hunt down most of the starters.

I just don't understand people nowadays. DayZ is not a fucking DM game, it's a zombie survival RPG mod for the famous ArmA 2 war simulator. It's entirely trying to express the experience of zombie survival to other players. And what comes out of it? Everyone shooting each other in Elektro and Cherno, people shooting people without any warning or RP element, doesn't even caring about zombies... Would you do this in real-life aswell if anytime a zombie apocalypse happens? If so... then humanity will die faster even than the dinosaurs. -.- I've got shot twice in Cherno by some AK wielding douchebag, doesn't even a fucking warning. On the second time I even yelled "DON'T FUCKING SHOOT" several times but he just kept shooting, and not even a word. Also on the second meeting I had nothing! Literally NOTHING! And before the Cherno massive death I met 2 people pointing their gun at me. I thought why not trying to be friendly. I salute. Then I approach them slwoly. They still pointed the gun at me. Just when I tried to tell something the one wielding the AK shoots me down. I see youtube videos, about people playing games and so many is about negotiating with other players. They all sounded like americans. Tell me, are Americans playing this game better? Like a lot better, and how it should be played? Sick... This is stupid and this game will be just another DM game mostly without any RP element...

Actually crawlers can't run that fast, but walkers are really like olympic sprinters when you agro them. -
First Impressions of DayZ - Review and some ideas

Imagine those infected people, they didn't eat or drink for days, they eat only human flesh they don't even care about the blood that they could drink. They have reduced senses like seeing and hearing, and their body got so weak they just couldn't run like that. Have you ever seen an infected running at you? Just start to run on an Airfield and attract some of them, you'll see that they run twice as fast as you, when they shouldn't. They were normal people and most of them have beer belly and they can outrun you, a healthy, fit and adrenaline-filled survivor. We ran to a hill not once and the zombie just outran us all the time and when there were a bus full of survivors we didn't want to go into the city to lose 1 zombie. -
URGENT: Two flying choppers?!!!?

Read the DayZ wiki. UH-1H Huey helicopters can be obtained occasionally from Airfields or from roofs of hospitals. There are 3 Helicopters hidden somewhere on every server. On low-populated server you'll most probably find one at it's original spawn location, waiting for repair. On a high-popluated server those might have been already taken and people often hide their best stuff on the bounds of the map, if those are vehicles, If you search for campsites and camping tents with a load of goodness you might want to check places far away from civilization. -
First Impressions of DayZ - Review and some ideas

My first character lived 6 days and I had a decent stuff on myself, also we met some people. I died on my third encounter, so my friend did too. On the first encounter we were on the International Airport looking for guns and ammo, and we heard gunshots from the Crash site. We supposed the guy was heading for the Airfield too, so we tracked him down. Eventually we found him laying on top of a watchtower, and my friends shot him to death with a Lee-Enfield. We can say it was a 1-shot 1-kill. He had an M16, some medicine and plenty of food on himself. On our second encounter, we saw a guy trying to loot the military tents near Stary Sobor. Before he could enter the 3rd tent he saw us and ran away from us. We lost him too early as he just ran off into the wilderness. We found military garde and powerful weapons there, so we looted the tent then the Supermarket, and then headed South to Chernogorsk. On our third encounter we found a bus driving around in Cherno. They stopped at the nearby fuel station to fill up their bus and we wanted to ambush them. We had a grenade so we could just blow up the car killing instantly 2-3 people standing there, and pick-off the rest. This is where the problem came in and everything went South. A zombie just spawned... Yep, spawned right in our back and started chasing us. I had no other option but to kill it fast, so it won't interrupt with the plan. Unfortunately we were too close to them, and when I shot the zombie (major lag and stuttering caused me to miss 2 shots when the zombie was right in front of me.) the other players heard us and they exectued us. I don't need to say we didn't stand a chance just because a zombie distracted us. Review: This game is what most ArmA 2 players are dreaming of. A realsitic zombie survival game, where you have the free will to do anything in Chernarus. Let it be banditry and kill other survivors for your own needs, or a guardian angel who tries to save and defend most players from the horrors of this apocalypse. You need to get your own food, water, equipment and weapons to get fully prepared for those situations you might encounter. The game is completely unpredictable. If you find a player you have the very chance of getting him on your side, as well to attack him and take his loot, or engage in a self-defense if the survivor is hostile towards you. Even if you take a new survivor alongside you, he might just betray you somewhere and then leave you to your fate of being eaten by zombies, bleedout, or a quick and painless shot to the head. The versatility, realism and unpredictability is what makes this game probably my first and foremost the only favourite game. Advantages: - This mod is based on a realistic war simulator, so the elements of the game is gotta be the most realistic. - Zombies in hordes can make it a decent challenge to lose them or fight them off, and new players you encounter might be a big surprise, or the end of your line. - Completely unpredictable, even if you plan very carefully approaching a city, anything can happen and you either end up dead, or making it out alive, with or without a loot. - Chernarus, a 225km2 countrysideis your playground, to get gear, and then either slay zombies, or unwitting survivors. - Prove the fact that you are the fittest for survival and engage your enemies in guns blazing or by staying in the shadows, be it either survivors or hordes of zombies. - Don't trust anyone. Seeing someone would almost make you want to kill him, but if you feel lucky and you show that you have mercy upon survivors try to approach him, use VOIP to contact and see if you can negotiate, BUT be prepared and be on alert, it might be a trap. Disadvantages: - The mod is still in early development state (alpha test) so be ready to encounter a lot and sometimes game ruining bugs. - Zombies are running way too fast. As their body is actually dead and they have a weak sense of hearing and seeing, they still run like any olympic sprinter and it is almost impossible to lose them, by just running away. - Some major bugs, like stuttering and lagging kinda ruins your aim, which can be fatal if you face players, or hordes of zombies. - Getting up and down on ladders sometimes can be difficult and if you aren't fast enough someone might just see you and shoot you down. To sum up: The game itself is amazing, I love it. The only thing that should be improved/changed is the zombies' behaviour, speed and attack style, and somehow take away all the stuttering and lagging because it can ruin the game lots of times. Ideas that shoud improve gameplay: - Decreasing the zombies movement speed (so they won't run like an olympic sprinter) making it more easier to lose them. - Increasing the quantity of zombie hordes spawning at a location making it more difficult to avoid them or to kill them at once. - Zombies can already sense you from kilometres away on an open field even if you crouch walk. The hear and LOS should be decreased so they won't see you from at least 120m away from you when you are crouching in grass, but they will see you from like 50-70 m away, maybe even a hundred if you crouch-running. - Randomly spawning zombies shouldn't occur. They could spawn at least 3 locations in a 200m radius from your position, in every hour, when you are near a settlement or a city, based on the popularity of the town. If it's a little settlement or town, then only low quantity of zombies spawn there. If it's a city or a bigger town than there might be eight or a dozen of zombies there on seperated zones. - When I approached a deer stand with a friend suddenly like 15 zombies spawned there, which is impossible at a deer stand far away from civilization. Zombie spawns should be location-based instead of player-based on loactions like deer stands, military tents, houses, castles and farms. - If it's dark night ( between 11pm and 2am) you basically can't see anything but the sky, making it impossible to look for anything. Brightness should be increased slightly just to see your character and have an FOV of 6m or below. This is all I can say and I hope the devs will read this topic, I really want these changes to be done. If anyone has any opinion about the changes feel free to comment, also feel free to comment whatever new ideas you guys have. DayZ is an amazing and fantastic mod for ArmA 2 and if it's going to be perfected, I swear you guys, I will never stop playing it. Bonus Ideas: It would be probably a good idea to create a website, where you can lead your own journal what other registered players can read anytime, you will have a map there, where you can make strategies for the next day, plan routes, mark spots of interests and spots with high-activity. Where you can track your statistics by linking your in-game profile to your registered website username. If your character ever dies, you'll lose your journal your statistics and your strategies, routes and whatever things you marked on your map. Basically it will clean up everything in your username. Cheers, I wish you all good luck out there in Chernarus. Sadly I died because of a zombie was playing troll on us, and we died from a group of well-armed survivors. ;( I'll have to start it over again, I'm just sad that one zombie just got us killed. We even lost an extremely rare frag grenade which the group that killed us, might have it now.
