It's good that you mentioned it, in case it matches up with the experiences of others and might point to something that can be fixed... But most likely you were just the victim of the alpha nature of the game... Work in progress, databases reset without warning and all that... I don't think an individual appeal will get any traction based on those things.

Make sure that you are starting Combined Operations. Other than that, I get these and similar one off cfg errors now and again. Also, some servers say that I am missing CBA_MAIN but none of that has ever materially effected my game experience.. L

When you think "they" all misunderstood... Maybe your explanation was lacking.... EDIT: if you're talking about letting servers only accept globally registered GUIDs, I assumed it already worked this way... Hence a global ban list....

I do this, frankly. I play games with my fianceé. We have an offline map and if we are reasonably close, we meet up. If, however, we are at opposite ends of the map, we've discovered that its ... Not the best experience trying to meet up across those kilometers of hostile ground... So one of us will respawn because we spent most of last weekend either trying or connect, running toward one another or getting sniped. L

Let's not get too snippy. I do the 'story in my head' thing a lot. I agree with the poster above who mentioned taking risks to bring enjoyment to the experience. I wonder what kinds of things could be done in a game like this to keep a strong appeal without losing the vision it sprung from?

Pro tip: Go into your controls and UNBIND CAPS LOCK and 2X CAPS LOCK. These use Voice on your currently selected channel. I then bound a specific, convenient, key to Direct Comm. That keeps you from accidentally voice spamming the whole server..

I think having a place whee server admins could post outside of our view is a great idea. If the devs are messing up your settings, hopefully you can have a productive discussion with them. Why lock something at? Couldn't they take it offline and it wouldn't show up at all? I think it makes the suspicious among us think shenanigans are afoot.

That's not a behaviour of the individual server. It's the central character having problems or overwhelmed and losing or missing your request...

My impression is that this is the start of a freh take and an attempt to move away from such conventions.... People have interesting thoughts on what they'd do. I'm not much of a designer, myself. I like the prospect of making a game enigmatic enough that the community "makes" the game environment, but there's room for splinter groups and factions without having guild structure built in.

That's why I like the Chicago servers. I see a lot of integrity in the posts by the admin. I think almost all of the server admins try for similar. Might be a good idea to just lock this thread up. People have said their piece, and it really is kind of a slap fight.. L

I had a vague idea how zeroing in worked (sorry, you hardened vets out there!), but those tutorial bits really helped me, especially the target practice with sniper/scoped weapons!

Please, please, take the time to read: 1) an install guide 2) posts about connection issues and what the look like. Look around the forums. I suggest that you make sure you know what 'waiting for server response' means and how not to deal with it... If you're already up on such things, great work! L

The boot camp scenarios in the regular game teach you all of this stuff. Theres a whole shooting range section where it's explained AND you can practice. L
