For crying out loud give us something!
Disgraced replied to REDMAGE628's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I found everything I needed pretty easily. It took some time, and I had to be careful, but that was my play style previously. I have on rare occasions just said eff it and run into a building, grabbed stuff and run out the other side, finding a way to lose the zombies that followed me... But the game is much more interesting now, without a starting weapon. I prefer starting with nothing. I also think that the respawn button should not be there. We should have to play out every life to it's extreme. Also, I think they should bind the 'shock' effect to ALT-F4. It forces you unconscious when you reconnect. -

I think it's deeper than 'tattle taleing'. I think that people get upset because maybe a clan kills them or they say something offensive and get kicked or talked to... Then they decide to get a little retribution and take it to the forums... I've seen bits and pieces of at least one person deciding to try to make something up worse than what actually happened, just to give the server admin a hard time. As a player, I would like to agree with the OP on this. Someone needs to reply, and I'd like to see some changes. These guys are like police with no authority to arrest or detain. They can just finger wave. That's why players feel that they can walk all over them. It seems to me that if the database access is the reason for the control, let the dev team set the rules for DATABASE bans. Not server bans. Allow admins to log a reason and ban people as they see fit (server ban, not database ban), and give them a number of 'reserve' slots on their servers. -
Game-breaking bugs and frustrations
Disgraced replied to james2464's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Would you like your one word answer now, or later? Theses things, I believe are all reported and known. The dev team decides what gets fixed and when. I k ow some of it sucks. I broke my bones on a doorframe today just by rotating while prone. That's life in the "A" word. Cheers. -
It has been addressed by being mentioned 1,000,000 times on these forums, and they've tried to fix it in the last half dozen or so patches. Don't you read?

I suppose that logically, in our minds, we feel that we have two advantages when considering this zombie apocalypse thing. Reasoning and range. This is a problem with both. I think that if a building has open doors or a large opening to get inside, it's perfectly fine for them to come in. I had this experience the other day: I had entered a large industrial building (the one with a door at each end, the stairs in one corner and the catwalk around the perimeter). It was dark and 1.7.1.4 had just come out, so as I entered the building, I attracted the attention of a couple of zombies. I decided that getting up the stairs was a priority as I could bottleneck them. I didn't have a gun... But I had just found the "hatchet"(axe). So I position myself up the catwalk and toss a can or two toward the other end of the room. That went well, as they decided that was more interesting than I was. The problem arose when I had dispatched them, and another zombie came into the room ... Through the closed door at one end of the building. Basically, it feels like closed doors don't exist to them. I'm not sure if this is a limitation of the arms engine, or the doors are a specific type of non-object object (like bushes), but it breaks the cardinal rule of zombie avoidance. It SEEMS like a barrier, but it's not. I would certainly love to have them batter down say, a house door, but that might be asking for a bit much from the engine (but caters to another excellent zombie trope). So, until told otherwise, I'm assuming that doors mean nothing except an obstruction to MY vision and mobility, not theirs (it should be both). Once we have established a safe place to fight back, range is the human advantage. Gunning down zombies is always the traditional, preferred method of dispatch. And yes, we will attempt to contrive safe places from which to do it. We don't need to artificially have them kept out of buildings, we just need things that appear to naturally limit them to do exactly that.

It's not bankable I don't think, just very ironically rude.

Well, but it sounds like it's server based, not battleye, which would keep you off of all Dayz AND Arma servers......

M107 Sniping competition in Cherno
Disgraced replied to Paddy1991's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wow. Proud of shooting people with nameplates and range on. Giant yawn. What's next, finding your own ass with a flashlight? At least play on a vet server and make the sniping mean something. -
Odd that people are having the ammo drop issue. I had it this morning, but then today I got the latest beta arma and 1.7.1.5 and it hasn't happened to me with a couple dozen pickups (including a pistol and rifle).

SKOOLED -
Oh, well... Are you sure it said banned? Early on with the new patch, I got a script error #58. I assume it was just some kind of check mismatch or something, as I was fine after that.

You received an amicable reply. When you sarcastically call the guy who can warn you "genius" sarcastically, get ready to get your knuckles slapped. You are apparently in kindergarten and need a little disciplining, whether this is China or not. -

Global bans not working as intended, and letting down the BIS ethos.

These hoary old "I picked something up off a dead guy and got banned" stories are getting old. Wanna know something amazing? I found a crate the other day that was obviously hacked. I stopped, opened it, took some screen shots... And never got banned! -
I don't think that battleye does server bans. I could be wrong, though.
