Good alpha testing. That's a good bug find. Don't know if it's previously reported. If you are carrying more than one canteen, you can only fill one at a pump. You can only fill the second one by dropping the first one, even if you are very careful to put the correct one in hand. At least, that's been my experience.

Right now, no. I think this is all going to shake out at some point, with a whole set of conditions based on who knows what. I'd love to see sniper rifles degrading from people slinging them all about.. or other scoped weapons for that matter. Degradation over time for abuse would be very good.

Agreed... but... is this really necessary? Despite the trolls and people who want to appear eager for this kind of thing, I never in a million years thought the devs entertained these notions... -

People who think this game approaches realistic or use the "realistic" argument are deluded. This game will never approach realistic. Mechanics that try to simulate realistic situations in the context of a game, certainly. It's all just game mechanics. Broken legs zapped with morphine, wounds fixed by 5 seconds of bandaging, dying of thirst in less than one day... People excuse certain things based on their own perception and want from the game. People will excuse the rate of thirst or rate of starvation. The spawn point concept does not fit reality. There are a million things that differentiate a game from reality. This game is fun in its own unusual way, and that has aspects that could be termed realistic for lack of a better term but it is not and it will never be realistic. To the OPs point, I like the additional detail and complexity if it can be worked out in the framework of the game. A lot of Dayz requires you to just know how something works by finding it on the internet. I think that aspect could be minimized but I'm not sure the community would want it so. There are things I like to see that make the game more brutal, challenging, difficult, whatever. Some of them are health related and some are not. I choose to ride out all of the feature experiments, creep and equipment gyrations and wait until the dev team actually puts something forward and asks us as a community what we want after they have all the tricks in the bag. Tl;dr the game is not realistic and it will have what the dev spit in it. -

I often think that just stopping with features and getting everything to work properly around 1.7 to 1.8ish might have really taken off.

It's not that it's poorly optimized. Rather, they built it to require you to aim 'realistically'. It's not crap, it's just built a certain way. -

Yeah, the dot is for using the 'use' key so you can see the focus point. To aim, go into first person and quickly right click. You can thereafter hold right click to hold your breath, too. Quick right click to take your focus off of aiming and go about your business. That's how it works. Don't try to fire your weapon in third person. It is futile. -
This. I've had it work, but I've lost my gear untold numbers of times. Remember, always better pissed off than pissed ON.

There is one in the middle south near the coast (Balota). There is one in the top right corner near Olsha (I'm interested what they changed in the new exp branch there) There is the biggest one in the top NW corner of the map. I think they added more stuff but the shrooms ohgogohgog ohgod.... gack

You can do this: In steam, right click on Dayz and choose 'Properties'. From there, you can select the 'set launch options' at the bottom. In the box, type: +connect <ip address:port> I just tried the following, and it went straight into game without the need to select: +connect 198.27.70.122:2372 Now I think you just need a method to find a server or servers online. You could keep a list in notepad and just paste in whichever one you want. Good luck.

In game, go to 'change server', then 'filter' at the bottom. Change the ping setting to something low like 50. Other than that, unless you filter for specific server identities like US3533 (which I do in the MOD but not here in the SA), I can't give you much more advice. My guess, though, is that somehow it's still polling all of the servers, just not showing them...

Double tapping alt locks in the same function as holding alt. Double tap alt again to return to normal. Same if you seem stuck on walk or jog. You might have right clicked (aim) without a proper firearm. Nothing seems to happen, except you can't get out of walk. A quick right click again clears that one up.

I think the latency will be much more problematic than hit box meshes.

Devs, please add indicators for shaking from pain requiring painkillers and broken legs. There are constant posts on the boards here because the message system does not notify of these like thirst or hunger. I know that this is all currently place holders. Please add broken leg text (maybe triggered every time the player tries to stand) and in pain indicators that coincide with shaking screen. Maybe even "I've lost a lot of blood" for desaturation and/or blur. Should be easy to implement and it will make these conditions more comprehensible.

Well, there have been a number of posts asking why it's happening. So it's apparently not obvious to all. Many seem to think its a bug or glitch of some kind.

Level 7, 118 games, 8 years. 10 is a bit high. My son has over 5,000 hours on Garry's Mod, though.
