  1. So I'm logged in and crosshairs and 3rd person are on? Is that intentional? Now I'm worried tht name tags will betray me... Edit: after laying for a while, I noticed that I could see where I was on the map, and at one point, there was a map marker that said "man". Isn't that another player? I don't think the server is set up like you think it is. You should check it out.
  2. My son and I call this "bombing" the airfield. I did something like this yesterday. Sure, I usually sneak around and stuff, but sometimes, it's fun. After watching with binoculars for a bit, I shrug, lob a smoke grenade or two parallel to my intended path, and then run. From the south barracks, across to the six hangars, then to the firehouse. Then the control tower. Then I find a way to lose my zombie escort and check north barracks. Hasn't failed me yet, except I always get shit loot!

    Spread The Word: Surrender Key

    I support this concept.
  4. Yeah, it's set off on a lot of servers... I guess more useful in the "old days" when people were constantly asking in global which server it is... But still, seems like all servers should have it on... Thanks, joikd!

    Zombies at Helicopter Crash site...

Found one this morning. It was pretty easy to snipe the zombies off with the Kobra. I did get a wave of about ten, it seemed, then shortly another wave,... Then a third. I shot up the first two groups, then just let the third one spread out while I searched around the wreck. Someone else had clearly been there, as I only found an M14 in the grass. Apparently, they spawn in fields pret much anywhere, but I hear around Stary and Vibor is where they can mostly be found.

    Pobeda Dam vehicle flip

Rubs chin. Maybe I should camp there and gather up the stuff from the "accidents"...
  7. I.... I have to second this. It would be better if the text listed was somehow coded into the server files and standardized.

Global Ban Due to being Hacked

How did someone get your account information?
  9. Is net stats what we get when we press "I"? Since this is where we can see the server name when connected, this should always be on, shouldn't it? I've started playing on this server, so far, so good.. Found my first helicopter crash this morning, but vehicles are still MIA for me.

    Helicopter crash sites? help?

Found one today, but someone got to it first. I still found an M14 AIM hidden in the grass. I had to kill about 20 zombies for it, though. That was my first help crash. And yeah, from what I have read, the locations are "not a forest or building" (fields, basically), so I think mapping locations were not accurate and so removed.
  11. I have found 2, both in the super markets.
  12. Painkillers. You are in shock from taking damage.
  13. There are no operable, flying helicopters in game. Source: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/23176-database-cleanup-2012-07-03/page__st__80#entry244735
  14. Why thank you... And on the lighter side, I do love the game. I get pissed when I die, sure, but very shortly, the glamour of that next life is calling. Every time is a little different. I do fun stuff, sometimes, goofy stuff like run through the high pvp cities just to see how long before I get shot... Mostly I just like to explore the villages and airfields and stuff and see who I run into. Although I never seem to find vehicles :(
  15. Yeah, it's pretty much just bragging rights or that feeling that you have something rare. I usually try for something that I can find ammo for. I tend to go Winchester, but I've been aging the risks going to the military places lately.

    Surrender Emote

There is a bind called surrender. Not salute. Your character puts his/her hands on the back of his/her head. Petty much as described, except for the "getting on the knees" thing.
  17. Not your thing, but that's cool. Our zombies is in another castle.... Come back later.
  18. Why would you play? If you play to get entertained, or if you feel that the makers of the mod owe you anything, even playability, then it's not for you. If you want a game with elements of another game-- classes like wow, knife kills like some shooter, levels, quests, experience levels and points, then this game is not for you. Frankly, if you're looking for co-op, don't try it unless you are teamed up going in. Find a clan or friends on team speak or steam or whatever. If you can't handle a learning curve without a tutorial or instructions or even rational sanity sometimes, this game is not for you. If bugs and glitches make you shrug and move on, or rage briefly and then get right back at it, then yes. If you want the challenge of a learning curve, and even to have to go to the forums or back into the base game to practice something or learn how it works, then this game is for you. If you are content to realize that you are privelidged to test and work with this mod, but to realize that it will break, not work, be frustrating, change and ultimately not fit your vision but that of the creator, this game is for you. If you're looking to be creative, to explore, to have tense times waiting minutes for something to happen, and don't want just another shooter, this game is for you. If you're capable of installing your own files, and understanding that the base game is releasing beta files, and that this mod releases it's own set of alpha files as well, then this is your game. If you realize that in the mod's infancy, hackers will cause your death at any time as will rocks, doors, trees and the occasional zombie or other player, this game is for you. make sure you realize what my signature says before you make your decision. This mod is fun for exploring and collecting, but your "stuff" can be lost at any moment.

    Suggestion: Skills Idea

When I wake up tomorrow morning, I'm going to do a forum search for "class(es)" and "skills". Then I will post all of the links here. Then I will say, FOR FUCKS' SAKE THIS HAS BEEN POSTED X TIMES BEFORE. DID YOU REALLY THINK NO ONE THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE??? (where x is the number of times it has been posted before) In all seriousness, this goes quite a bit against the basic concept as outlined by the mod creator. Classes would then require balancing and tweaking, &c, &c. It's a well considered suggestion, and it fits the mold of what most gamers crave these days.. Defined roles... But if they did that, I, and I assume many others, would not want to play the mod any more. I prefer the "everyone can do the same things" model.
  20. I usually last a few days to a week, but when I die, I Ike to just run around and train zombies through a city or some such other nonsense for a few lives, just for kicks. So like every 5th life or something is fo' realzz.
  21. I don't know how long, but today, I left a gun on the ground that I found at a help crash. After discovering that it was a legitimate gun in game, I logged back in probably two hours later and it was still in the field where I left it.

    Green mountain...

The flies.... The growling and those green lights... I was hoping to find a vehicle up there, and instead I got lost in the forest.....
  23. I'm assuming you got the game from steam. I found this post helpful: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/11465-guide-steam-to-those-spawning-invisible-no-debug-errors-beta-update/page__hl__buildingparts

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

I find them pretty easy to sneak past and easy to lose. Usually it's just a choice: Wait for them to move away from my path, Shoot them, Run like hell and lose them along my plotted course. I rarely get hit unless I'm being careless. I think that once the tweaking happens, it would only be possible to lose them over a short distance, otherwise you are overrun. Sometimes I run a very long distance with some zombies trailing me, then lose them shortly before my intended destination.
