What's the player name? A lot of players are trying things where their name turns into a blank when they connect, or are using unusual characters. Use regular, basic characters and I'm sure it will go away.

ANswers? I wonder what you thought you'd hear. No offense, but there is no answer. I logged in yesterday after updating JUST my Arma Beta... And I was respawned. I shrugged and moved on. My son logged in. Same machine, Same files, different account. He lost his Ghillie suit but still had everything. I assume it might be server or hive related, but in the world of Dayz, you pick up your teeth and keep moving.

Best bet, open the pack on the ground. open your bag, transfer stuff, then pick up the new bag. It leaves your old bag there. I just did this with an Alice this morning.

Well, I have unintentionally become a 'DCer'. I was in the woods near Zelenogorsk, having just had an only slightly successful supermarket run. A zombie followed me up the slope and was somehow able to hit me, though the slope was great enough that I had to walk... Unusual, in my experience. Anyway, I stupidly had not picked up any painkillers. Despite the fact that I had in-and-out'ed the store quickly because I heard gun shots nearby and should just be getting out of there, I shrugged and hightailed it in the direction of the store. As I was running, I of course picked up several zombies. As I neared the store, I started taking fire. I tried to zigzag around a little, but it wasn't much good. They kept firing and I was eventually unconscious with zombies gnawing on my tender essentials. I waitied and died. The 'YOU ARE DEAD' screen came up. I chose 'Abort' and then disconnected and went to get ready for the day (I usually do other stuff for a while after dying, and today was no exception). After doing some dishes and showering... I reconnected... outside the grocery in Zeleno... with all my stuff (and, by the way, still needing those pain killers). So... To the guy who shot me, I am sorry that you did not get my stuff. You deserved it. But, I am wondering... Is the correct protocol to respawn, THEN disconnect? I mean, I waited for the DEAD screen... How long SHOULD one wait? I don't want to cheat people out of my stuff if they get the drop on me.

Get a server or make friends with a server admin, clan or hacker. Or get lucky and stumble across one. Apparently, they are practically raining from the sky for some, but for some of us... They seem almost mythical.

Good stuff. I got killed by the update today. C'est la vie. I respawned and ran around a bit, found some low level junk, a hatchet, a makarov. But I ended up getting too injured running around axing zombies. I died and respawned at Kamarovo. As I like to do, I dropped everything on the beach... I decided to rush Balota and see what was what. I ran some zombies in, lost them in the trees near the control tower. Some fuckwad had but wire across the entrance. Rolling my eyes, I climbed the ladder in the side of the building. I found an m9 which is nice. I hope to find some SD Ammo for it. Anyway, as I approached the first hanger... I see an arm on the ground holding an M14 AIM. There was a dead guy there with the M9 and five clips as well as a belt full of gear and a pack full of oddments. Would have been nice if it wasn't the starter pack, but still, a good start.

Most servers show you who is on that server in the server selection screen, near the bottom. Those that don't, you can just go into the lobby and see who is on.

I don't agree about being bored. At my age, you find something else to do and come back when it's not boring. I agree with the thread title, though. Needs to feel more desperate and less like a military unit simulation.

Just happened to me, but it was right after I went to the latest beta Arma patch, so I blame that. I was in a completely innocuous field near nothing.

Let me fix that for you: I am bored with this game and want you all to know. Seriously, you're allowed to not like it or be bored and have your complaints... I'm sure that they will be absorbed with the other feedback of the team... but your inflammatory post title just makes me shrug and think that you assumed that this would be a regular game release, and it's not. It's a very young work in progress. So now what?

I was playing 94876 until a few hours ago. I logged in a while ago and noticed that there were a couple dozen servers now, when I filtered for 95054. So I went ahead and installed it. It respawned me at the coast, but seems to work. I had to leave so haven't had time to actually play, just to see that I could connect.

That's called 'playing the game' :P

This is currently referred to as a 'private server'. People who can't wait for the game to develop and want to just do it their own way or, more likely, server admins who don't want to be told how to run their servers by the Dayz dev team.

Relax. There was a time when the forums were attacked and we lost something like 3-4 weeks of posts. I would guess that Google cached them. You can apologise below.

It's not the shooting physics, it's the net code. Desync is rampant, even if you're not red-chained, at least for me. A lot of it might be based on your unique situation (ISPs, server location, local activity, &c.) When I read about clans co-operating, I wonder how they do it, when stuff like this seems pretty common. I tried to play along with m y fisncee for a couple of weeks, but we could rarely tell where the other person was, even when we were just a few meters apart. Zombies also appeared to be in different locations for us, so it was a little scary as we might accidentally shoot one another. Easier to play solo, though far less rewarding.

HAcker, though the two are not mutually exclusive. From what I understand, Admins do not have such powers. It certainly doesn't mean that they haven't hacked them in, though, just like any other player could.

YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE NOT INFECTED. Quit treating some subset of infected as different. Just because they can weild guns doesn't mean they are intelligent. They will kill you faster than their brethren that are in the more advanced stages of infection.

For the way that I run things, I then have to copy the 'new' arma2oa.exe from the beta folder into the 'regular' folder to fool steam into running it. If I don't, it just runs whatever I left in there last, which is usually the last beta patch....
