    Bandits - another whiner

Getting killed sucks. Doing this, or altering pvp... And in my opinion they might as well just stp developing the mod. And this is from a guy that spends almost all of his time NOT encountering other players.

    Reviving a dead person

Nope. Did a search for "defibrillator". Got two pages of results. User fail.
  3. Welcome aboard. Sounds like you will enjoy the mod. The next patch will break it, so have a backup "thing" to do and some patience.

    Reviving a dead person

This will offend the tender sensibilities of many in this mod. It flies somewhat in the face of the "dead is dead" mentality. I think if they introduced an unconsciousness that lasted longer, unless the player "gave up" and died and respawned, then there would be a mechanic there... But this will most likely be met with derision because it's against the spirit of the mod, and it's been suggested before. I'm running into a lot of threads where people say they didn't find something that could be found with a simple search. Is the search feature broken, or the brains of the forum users. Hmmmm.

    Banditry deterrant

    In before... The usual.
  6. I've bled out at 34 days. Days of play time mean nothing as they are real time days, not days at the keyboard. At 9 days, he should be proficient at: 1. Having some fucking supplies for first aid 2. How blood and health works. Bandage to stop bleeding. Apply meat, in extreme cases, copious quantities of canned food, or blood bags to restore health. Do you know what happens if under 8K blood? Do you know at what point running might make you pass out? Things to learn. Good luck.

    Broken leg

You need a morphine injector. One for each time you see the broken bone icon. Hospitals have them, and military spawns. Epic players will crawl across the whole map to find one if caught without. Console kiddies will say eff it and respawn. There is no in between.
  8. Play like a boss... Funny. I do, too... Until I don't. So many times I like.... Spaz out and mean to jump up from a crouch and run like hell... And end up lying on the ground, opening my gear or giving my compass a good close look. I'm yelling at my screen "run you stupid motherrfucker!!!" but my fingers are like..... Hurr durr. Other times.. Yeah, pretty smooth. I'm hoping some day to be able to use some of the particular key binds I've put in... But not yet. Agree with the sentiment, though. It's kind of like.... Some people want that immediate gratification of feeling like they "owned" the experience with little effort. Being in their own room, without outside input, any experience that rewards them with little food pellets (achievements, cinematics, gear, pixelated rewards), is what they crave. This mod obstinately refuses to give it to them. The other thing that it takes away, along with an easy-glide reward system is progression that leads to a feeling of superiority. In an MMO environment, I am led to feel skilled if I got lucky and got some ubr loot in some dungeon or off of a player kill, or if I deeper my way to it by epic hours of grinding. In this mod, I can, if lucky. Not skilled. Lucky. Have the same equipment very rapidly that someone else may have played a dozen hours to get. Likewise, I can grab an enfiield in five minutes and kill a guy with a car and mil spec sniper rifle if I manage to get the drop. This sits not well with most gamers. They are used to a feeling of superiority. They are used to saying "I put in X hours, therefore i am a superb player of this game" and it's NOT true here. Hence, nerd rage. Cognitive dissonance reigns. I love it.. Agents of chaos, indeed.
  9. Yeah, um, search fail... And logic fail.. (since its such an easy solution that you MUST have realized its popped into someone's head before yours... Or you're colossally egotistical?) But yes. This is the run of the mill solution that everyone posts about to deal with the issue, having played other games online, particularly MMOs. And yes, sorry to tell you, this is like the two millionth thread on this. Since its going to be dealt with in some fashion in the next patch... A first run at it, at least, best to start holding your breath now.
  10. That would be awesome in the final game. Given that I can't climb up something waist high in most cases because of the Arma engine... Uh, no.

    Is this... Hacking?

These are effects that can be seen in Arma, but in DayZ, the means are not really built in. So yes, hacks.

    New guy needs some tutoring!

Tja! 1. Guns are in places like barns. You can also in some cases find them in reside trial buildings. Depending on how much you want to know, you can use the maps at dayzdb?com or dayz map.info. They show loot spawns. Guns are not that hard to find. Also, if you find a hatchet, and it's in your "G" inventory, then you can right click it and use it as a weapon. 2. Sometimes you have to crawl. "Z". It's not as useful as it was a month or two ago, but it can really cut your visibility. Spend a few lives deliberately pulling zombies and figuring out how to lose them. Lately, though, I just run in and out and lose the zombies. Sometimes, I sneak. Sometimes I pull them on purpose and lose them in the pine trees. (hint) 3. It's built into the Arma game that only some buildings can be entered. Barns and large buildings with obvious large doors at both ends are the easiest, but it's another thing that you will get used to, figuring out which buildings can be entered. I am on the US west coast and play from 3 am my time to around 8 am my time on weekdays... That's around noon Stockholm time, I think. I happen to want to learn some Swedish for personal reasons, so if those times work for you, maybe I can give you some pointers... PM me.

    Armpits and ass

Nah, wading in to refill those water bottles gives me a nice sparkle every couple hours. Does a survivor shit in the woods, and if he does, and no one is there to hear it, does it make any noise? Only from a certain distance and plotted over time, according to Hawking.
  14. Thunder. It's funny, sometimes I'm running through a forest or wherever... A d the thunder startles me. Too keyed up listening for gun shots. I was literally on an empty server yesterday and still as I ran through the woods, I was alt-looking over my shoulder as I ran through the woods at the north end of the map.
  15. This. Also, played boot camp to understand weapons. Very steep learning curve for the "tutorial" generation... Since I'm old, I remember when we pirated games by handing disks around. How you played and learned games was, you loaded the game and then pressed keys randomly to see what happened. Eventually, you learned how things worked. There was no Internet, no forums to go to. This is a walk in the park, by comparison. Go back and play Zork 2 without using any external sources, or Infidel, then come back and say this game is hard.

    i hate this game :(

This mod is challenging, with a steep learning curve and it's very early in the development cycle. It will get worse before it gets better, except for learning the controls. You should realize that you're going to die, and learn how to sneak past and avoid zombies, recognize when they aggro and then figure out how to lose them if and when you do. It took me some time, but I feel like for the most part I know what I'm doing. Unfortunately, idiosyncrasies of the game engine and bugs and glitches will also kill you fairly often. Sometimes you will respawn with no seeming reason. Yes, other players will kill you. I've posted about it before and so have others. This is not an entertainment based game built to take you for a fun ride and reward you with levels and loot progression. It's an open sandbox full of a soup of glitches, player killers, and many intended ways to die. It may not be for you, or you may come to enjoy the challenge. It's up to you.

    Why didn't I start with a gun?

It's a tough learning curve, but there is a lot of information out there for those with even a rudimentary understanding of how to find information these days. It behooves anyone playing to at the very least keep up with the latest patch information, lest that person post an ignorant thread missing an extremely basic fact of the current iteration of the mod.
  18. Disgraced

    Why didn't I start with a gun?

Nope. Just moved away from the coast and prioritized. Each patch, I spend a few lives learning how zombie aggro works. Once I know that, I prioritize gear. Last patch, morphine injectors had a high priority. I made a number of failed, and finally successful hospital runs. This time, broken bones aren't quite as common, but guns, food and drink are plentiful, so avoiding the need to go into cities and towns climbed higher. I'm working on securing my own vehicles, now. I've started working on helicopter crashes in the northern fields, but I've got good guns, so a vehicle and tents are priority. And a place to hide them... Place or places.
  19. Riiiight. You're just another one. Screaming ape. Good one. Bullshit, but good one.
  20. Disgraced

    Why didn't I start with a gun?

I rocked it. SVD CAMO, m4A3CCO, ALice, two tents, &c, &c. Sure, I die a few lives here and there, and I almost die quite often, but I NEVER hit respawn and play out every life to the end. It's worthwhile.

    US 602

Two of us here are having no problems connecting. I am having some desync issues, and my game crashes about every 30 minutes, but I don't blame the server for that.

    Why didn't I start with a gun?

Man up. Drop all of your equipment on the beach and find everything yourself.
  23. Disgraced

    Why didn't I start with a gun?

Derp. It's been weeks since they announced that there would be no start gun.

    Beta 1.62 wiping vehicle locations?

Most likely, the server admin was having difficulty making the patch stick.
  25. No, it doesn't. It's an MMO with zombie trappings. The first levels of "The Secret World" could make similar claims.
