    I'm confused. You have both Arma II and Operation Arrowhead... Did the game work for you at one point? When I click play, or double click OA, a four choice menu comes up, and combined operations is the fourth choice (if anyone has a way to make it automagically start combined ops, hit me up)... So you're not getting that? If its never worked, I would suggest starting up the base game, then OA. Maybe it somehow isn't realizing that both are there?

    THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT (sorry, not with guitar) Remember, kids. When the new patch comes out, and you rush to download it, it will ALSO take the server admins some time to set up. I suggest waiting if you hate not having many servers to play on. At the very least, once you install, have your server list set to filter for 1.7.2.4. You will save yourself a lot of headache.

    Similar has previously been suggested... And the role player in my heart loves the idea... I have a couple objections.. Not sure the engine can do anything like this.. And you're gonna get a lot of fucks and penises. Just saying. Not sure I want that kinda graffiti.

    The why is fairly simple if, as usual, I talk out my ass and make up an explanation. The game engine is modeling a collision between objects. When you turn, the rate of motion in order to make it feel like its not taking forever for you to rotate is very fast. So it's kind of the equivalent of slinging your characters legs into something at high velocity. I'm pretty sure there's something there about how the character model is rendered so close to the ground or near things that are almost at ground level (like how when you drop things on certain "floor" surfaces, they effectively disappear, presumably they try to drop to the real ground below, can't be modeled and vanish. Basically, it's a glitch in the physics engine.
  8. Like... Classical vs relativistic... Or? Well, here's from the Arma II Wikipedia article: All weapons have realistically simulated ballistics. Rounds travel in parabolic trajectories and show effects of bullet drop dependent on their caliber. Muzzle velocities are modeled, and rounds lose velocity and knockdown power over time traveled. The ranges at which weapons are zeroed are fixed in the base game, although the Operation Arrowhead standalone expansion pack allows this to be modified, letting the player zero in their weapons sights. Sniper rifles can use stadiametric rangefinding to adjust for long-range shots. U.S. rifles use mil-dot scopes while Russian rifles use Bullet Drop Compensation (BDC) scopes such as the PSO-1. In addition, bullets will ricochet from surfaces depending on angle of impact. Penetration is also modeled, with rounds that pass through materials suffering from altered velocity and direction. I guess I would wonder... Why the question? I think air resistance would be a constant in game. Are you looking for different trajectories in foggy conditions (maybe modeling denser air), or ???

    Because they just lay there and don't move much, snipers leg muscles atrophy rapidly in the game. Your friends shriveled, brittle legs just couldn't take moving. It's a ...bug? Shitty functionality? I don't know what to call it. It's a thing that happens in Arma and it has to do with your prone character clipping into other objects. There have been literally dozens of threads about this, and doors, and rocks and stuff.

  14. Hasn't happened to me, but I would just reinstall the latest beta files. Steam is supporting what BI tells them is the latest stable version of their game. You are playing a mod mor on the cutting edge... Can't have your Kate and Edith, too (that was a great couple of weeks!). Well, you can, but that's beside the point, here.

    CZ550 pops up in barns/farm spawns. Otherwise, it's all military: Deer stands ballots NE airstrip NW air field Tents in Berezino A couple spots near one of the hospitals in cherno(?) And he'll crashes, of course. Good luck.

    I'm a new player - and this seems SOO hard

    I have to say that I learned a huge chunk of it myself... But I like to be challenged, not entertained, having cut my teeth on old Infocom and console games rather than modern games that just want to give you a movie with a few timed "A" button hits. Sacrifice a few lives to learning... Realize that as you experiment with how zombies work or whatever, you will die some.

    Experiment.. If you don't like the challenge of figuring stuff out yourself, try some videos or search around here. The zombies/infected CAN be evaded... And there are weapons out there. A lot of people use loot maps online... Like at Dayzmap.info Or dayzdb.com/map If you're more intrepid, there are in game maps. I would recommend a veteran server. Recruit servers have things like name tags that can be seen at a distance and make you easier to kill.

    The temperature was introduced, here in the alpha phase, to test the mechanic. To see if the concept could be programmed. I think it was a success, but it's basically been set up to be on the back burner, for now. I would bet that later, it will reflect real body temp, but also, there may be high and low temp mechanics. For now, I think that the fact that the mechanic works is enough, and they've crafted it so that it doesn't rresult in a lot of complaints until beta.

    I can't run anymore, why?

    Explanation: Since implementing no weapons, it's hard to realize that you've "long right clicked" and zoomed in like you would if you had a pistol If you right click again, it will take you out of that mode. But a fine enough response, monster.
  23. Battleye doesn't react to items... But the DayZ hive does. Dump things that look illegal. Battleye won't ban you globally unless it detects scripting.
  24. It's really a great idea... And I could see it being part of a larger game, say one where servers are interlinked but actually different areas... Right now, though, it shuts too easy for server hoppers to take your stuff.. Or someone to grab it when you are offline. Suggestions like this are really the next level of ideas for this type of game!
