It's my special-ity, to quote Obi-Wan. I've been told to avoid car and restaurant analogies, so I was circumspect, there. Background: of my own interest, I've had two people,ask me questions that were meant to cut to the heart of what I was doing.. As a career and in my life at the time. They were two questions, on different occasions that I found deeply provocative. Question 1: Are you a paramedic or a policeman? (is your intention to help and heal, or to punish and incarcerate?) Question 2: Are you a lumberjack or a fireman? (Are you putting out fires after they're started, or cutting down trees in industry?) As I said, in my personal, admittedly rather bizarre milieu, provocative. In the current context. Uhhh, that's how unthought of this analogy. Answers arconditional, but I aspire to be, to these answers, a paramedic and a lumberjack. I prefer to help but get work done rather than punishing/enforcing and dealing after the fact. And I love analogies, though they often pull me off topic... Case in point.

As a forum mod, it's my job to deal with forum rules, bad posts, upset users and the like. I love it so far, bizarrely. In that vein, I don't speak for battleye or the dayz dev team. I must say, though, that this post seems cogent to me, as an individual who plays the game. I understand that there are those that may DISagree. But to my experience... I agree. You have some beans.

Did you know... That you can take a vehicle, like a truck or car, and drive over tents, flattening them and destroying the contents? Just saying.

Yes, hacked (not in the database) You won't get banned unless you spawned it yourself.

I have often thought it would be fun to have sardines as the opposite of beans in this context.

The black SUV apparently has the "gangsta" look so loved by script spawned. Yes, it is hacked. A server admin might ban you for using it, I suppose (if it was my server, I'd just shrug), but it's the person who spawned it who left footprints in the server logs and elsewhere who will eventually lose their access. I like to blow them up.

Though you quoted me, I don't think you read my post. Also, it seems that about a million players, give or take, disagree.

From what I recall, the crowbar w put in experimentally when it was introduced. So in mt estimation, either they found out what they wanted, or other things were a bigger priority in the eyes of the folks who decide priorities. I would bet that it will get a larger role at some point. Maybe we should add head crabs to make it more useful?

That may be so. Have you decided that no one who can change or fix that is doing anything, or has done anything about it? Perhaps the people making those claims are lying. We obviously aren't in the business of posting links to such here, and please don't try to "prove" it. My point is, that it takes something of a conspiratorial mindset to present oneself as part of the knowledgeable crowd on something that the "authority" doesn't know about. It paints those with the real inside information as ignorant, and the person saying "see we all know it, but those guys, they're too stupid to figure it out!", as more knowledgeable than those actually in control. Like it or not, battleye is in control of these bans. Each of us is in control of one thing here. Whether or not we play this mod.

I don't have the authority to do so, but the way I read the tea leaves, that will get you blacklisted in short order.

I suppose it depends on who you choose to believe. You either believe that battleye knows what they are doing, or that people in the community know more about what battleye should be doing. For myself, with complex systems, I assume that people on the inside know a lot more about that system than people on the outside looking in. When it comes to systems where the people handling the data feel that keeping it to themselves is better for security (your bank, for instance, doesn't put up posts on the Internet explaining all of their security procedures, and the programs involved), I assume that laymen on the outside are guessing. Sometimes, those laymen are then forced to make up their own campfire stories about what's REALLY going on. So, you either trust that battleye knows what they are doing, or you don't. Ultimately, sometimes that means that you vote with your feet and go play something else.

The differences from the original post are subtle. For myself, I'm waiting for the video to see me.

As is outlined at the top of this thread, you need to appeal to Battleye, not these forums. There is literally nothing we can do about these global bans because that's the way the system is built. Global bans are not issued, nor are they controlled by the DayZ team. You can read rockets post again, if it helps. Posting how much you dislike battleye or telling the dev team not to use it is not going to result in it not being used. It's part of the mod at this point. And yes, when you post that an email address with [at] doesn't work, and you don't know to change to @... Most think you are trolling.

There is no way for us to do anything about these global bans. You have to appeal to Battleye directly and make your case to them. Posting here only gets you redirected to talk to them, as they issued the global ban.

Are you meaning 1.6 of the Arma Ii beta files? We are playing on two different tracks here. The Arma II Beta is, in fact, in the 1.6 range while the DayZ Mod Alpha is on 1.7.2.4. What the title neglects to tell us all is.... Are you having a problem?

It could also be a server that's improperly set up and started wrong on the "hard reset" you mentioned. After that, some guys took advantage of the default Arma behavior. I'm wondering, based on the naming convention you mentioned, if this is a hive connected server?
