Until you have a good sidearm, the AK is better for looting cities/towns. Otherwise i would say the CZ since scouting ahead is essential for surviving since you can see the town, buildings you want to go in and a good distance around to see if anyone could come while your inside. But till you have a sidearm zombie slayer go with the AK it'll be better in close quarter town looting situations.

Depending on your shoot on sight tactics i can approve or disapprove. Fire-fights are heart racing, exciting and you have no qualms about dying. Sniping/Stealth Killing people before they know about you isn't the same, unless your a terrible shot and then the scramble begins. I love fire-fights to death and take my death honorably if i get out played and out gunned but being shot without even knowing there is someone else isn't exciting in the least. The point on the guns is the Enfield while relatively common isn't going to be useful in hot zones since it's a zombie magnet and the fire rate is poor at best, good for a first gun but not the greatest choice. Same as a lot of the primary guns that spawn commonly. Backpacks are simply just to make trekking easier, i haven't been in a firefight yet where i actually got to use any of the stored medical supplies before dying and having two primaries one equipped and one in the pack is just common sense for looting places. Cities need to spawn weapons and packs, it's a hell of a risk going in the the supermarkets and fire stations as everyone is going to them as well, half the time you won't even find anything if your seconds behind another player. Answer to your endgame woes isn't making start game harder, set missions with your group to complete, hell have a war with your group members in a random back corner of the map if your bored. But let the fresh spawns have a chance to defend themselves finding the sub par weaponry and survival tools. Long story short, loot spawns are fine as it is, just make your own fun in-game.

Community is just about the same as any other game, poor example but compare spawn sniping to high levels killing low levels in MMO's gives them nothing at all besides annoying people. Side chat was to easy to abuse with "Sniped in Elektro/Stary/Airfield, Guys in hills/building/hangar" granted some servers still have it and friendly chats are still happening, i've seen on many that have it "Nice shot mate" and "Wow you deserve my gear after that firefight" and only rarely the rude swearing and name calling from players being sniped. It's also what you make of it, sure 50/50 you'll get killed but just helping out a guy could turn into a great friendship, run around donating bloodbags to newbies or morphine to randoms. One day i found a guy sitting in a random shed and he said he couldn't pick up a hatchet so i put it in my backpack and let him take it from there, proceeded to run for a few hours until my keyboard messed up and i couldn't move. Point is, every single community has the bad apples, but there is also some good ones to, take a chance and who knows, if you KoS you might miss out on the overwatch you wished you always had for looting NW Airfield.

I assume what you are hearing from the description is the flies, they are markers for player corpses, though military corpses in the airfields and camps can make the noise as well. It gets stronger and quieter as you get closer and further from the body but in the city and airstrips chances are it is a fresh kill so be wary when hearing them especially if you find the body. Chances are you just heard the flies from the bandits last kill.

I found one just last night at NW Airfield on the far north-west part of the airstrip.

I have found two in my career, 1 with an L85 during the accidental deletion of the gun so useless and another with an FN FAL and M107 with ammo for both. They are rare and rightly so with what they give out. Look at maps and look for them where they've been spotted. New crashes spawn each server reset.

I kill people for gear if i'm blinking food or thirst in the middle of nowhere, but other than that i keep my guns silent since i prefer not alerting every player in Cherno i'm there. Occasionally i get bored and act as Anti-bandit, avenging newbs who were killed (Today i heard revolver in Cherno then flies and hit the offender with a few M1014 slugs) Hot zone's like NW and Stary bandit mode engaged but otherwise i leave people alone. Edit: Unless i get shot at or see a charging hatcheteer.

First it was waiting for host then it was waiting for character to create...now its
Momiji replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have the problem myself, i could complain but it's not like Day Z is getting thousands of dollars towards development from players, take it as it is and just enjoy the game when you can get it. It'll be fixed one day, just have to wait it out. Hell be happy we can even play as it is. -

Momiji replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Shouldn't take more than 3 minutes to get past any screen, if it does, find another server or try rejoining. 5 minutes of waiting isn't going to kill you, you don't need to play that badly. Read a book, have a smoke, watch a movie on the side while trying to join, problem solved. -
Craziest stuff you've done?
Momiji replied to Sterling (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Charging at an MP5 wielder with a Hatchet, Killed each other but was worth it. -
Earlier this evening restarting i headed into Elektro from from the west and went to go look at the firestation, see 6-8 guys all over it in a team, they see me, i freak out and say my prayers and bid my hatchet better luck in the future. These guys approach me, ask if i'm friendly and then asked if i wanted to join them, declining cause i was only going to get basic loot and then head off, bid them a good day and good luck without a scratch on me. Not everyone is a bandit.

Thank you both, currently i'm not playing for a few hours with other game commitments but i'll definitely swing by the TS and add you Vaughn.

Military Grade Vs Civilian Grade Weaponry
Momiji replied to MeatAbstract's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I go for the Military weapons out of preference, sure i could go get an AKM which ammo is fairly common for or an Enfield but i like the scopes on the military weapon and it's just a rush sneaking through an airfield or getting into fire fights. I also love Barrett Rifles so always looking for a new M107 to replace my last whenever i play. I find AKM's in Cherno and Elektro nearly 90% of the time, always hit up Balota on the way to Cherno as well. Civilian weapon to me. -
I'll consider it, currently in Elektro finding hunting tools for the journey north.

Whats you standard gear to carry?
Momiji replied to Stewart (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Fresh Spawn priorities are. Primary with 3 mags, Winchester preferred. Sidearm with 3 mags, M1911 or Revolver. 3-4 Bandages, 2 Morphine, 2 Painkillers. ALICE or Czech Backpack. 2-3 Canteens, 2-4 Canned Food. Hunting Knife, Matches, Hatchet. Map and Compass are lower on the list and a backup primary just in case is also on the list but low. -
What percentage of players you meet/engage Alt+F4?
Momiji replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've had around 10 encounters with Alt-F4 players, always camping NW or Stary. I don't encounter many players through my journeys so it's fairly annoying to get the drop on a bandit sniper and waste ammo for nothing. -
Seen it, ran through it, didn't die. No idea what it is but seems harmless enough, most likely just a graphics glitch of a barrel fire. Might not be but that's my best guess.

Random Death via Tree has pushed me back to the beginning, if anyone wishes to start fresh nows the time.

Server hopping to kill someone isn't epic, just dirty.

Golden rule of surviving: Always assume you're being lined up.

Sadly it is just from my experiences, many times i have been in the Balota Airstrip/Military Camp and gunned down without warning. Once i have had the "I'm friendly" and trusted them to be shot, only had a hatchet as well. Also been in the let them go and later while looting been shot in the back by the same person flanking me once finding a weapon. Thus i KOS at airstrips. to high traffic and to risky for me to be nice. Part of the problem but the servers i play seem to have more bandits than not.

I feel being organized and detailed portrays my interest better than a quick few lines. Also a personal thing i have with being neat with forum posts. Added but i did chuckle sorry.
