  1. Use the map link that was posted earlier in this thread. The potential spawn points are literally all over the map.

    Humiliated.

What exactly would you call it then?

DayZ - Best Deathmatch game around, sadly.

Well, a lot of people actually DO group up, just not as much in game anymore because there's no reason to. It's a lot easier to trust someone you're speaking to in a third party application like Skype or TS rather than relying on direct communication in game to forge a friendship. There are threads upon threads upon threads with people raging about the 'DayZ is a DM' thing. It's not going to go away, man ( just one example: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/6487-wtf-is-happening-to-the-server-community/page__st__20#entry67105 ): the endgame pretty much boils down to killing other people and taking their beans, or continuously helping other survivors get geared until you end up getting killed. Whether you're killing bandits or survivors or getting killed by them, that's pretty much it. Otherwise you're just sitting up in the woods somewhere eating and drinking until you die. Why not go over to the Survivor HQ forum and try to find a group you can team with, rather than trying to lone wolf it everywhere?
  4. Howdy folks, Myself and a friend of mine have launched a server in the hopes of bringing a little more server stability to this side of the wasteland. Having said that, if you are on our server and have any issues, feel free to PM myself or simply use the chat in game. Please remember the rules that we admins have to abide by when you ask me to kick/ban individuals, and the amount of evidence that's required. I try to monitor BERcon routinely and if I see someone with an issue, I will do my best within the rules to assist you. With that said, I hope everyone enjoys the server!
  5. I guess I just don't understand why some of you guys just don't go to a private server and enforce your own ruleset there. I mean, its pretty clear you likely won't get your way on the hive servers, so why not start your own?

    empty server = less loot

I'm not even talking about 'less loot' perse. I think the issue should be high end loot, your L85's, your NVGs, etc. People want to farm for Lee Enfields and cans of beans? Fine. But if you want the good stuff, you should have to hit populated servers where the risk of death is increased. It's utterly bogus that individuals are managing to hit up servers with less than 5 players and coming away completely kitted out with virtually no risk to themselves. I don't even know if this is possible with the current engine, but it merits looking into.

    Starter weapon...

I don't need to see 2x4 fights on the beach, thanks.

    empty server = less loot

Zed, that's definitely true, but this is one idea i actually really agree with. Perhaps set a drop quality threshold until 10 or more players are in game or something. Not so high that its ridiculous, but high enough to where people can't farm empty servers.

    Destroying Friendships

Anyone want to place bets that the OP made all of this shit up? Also Op, you are just as bad as your friends, since youve continually profitted from their cheating. Well, if this all isn't a lie, anyway. Either way, you're lying or you won't do anything anyway because you're a sell professed coward. I'm leaning towards the former.
  10. That pic isn't of me, buddy, it just happened to be the pic I used for Battlefield 3 because I enjoyed using Stingers. I never handled a stinger in my life. I left the service an E-5, and you would do well to watch your own mouth, scrub. Again, your 'joke' was in poor taste and I called you on it. Judging from your complete overkill reaction, I must have struck a sensitive nerve.
  11. I'm curious Spookeh, what game are you going to go play now that you've given up on DayZ?
  12. You worked in a VA hospital and yet make casual jokes avout mental illness. As a vet of Afghanistan and Iraq, I want you to know that youre either a liar or a seriously fucked up individual.

    Why Day-Z Fails

Remember that it's your opinion, not a fact. Right now, many of us already think this game is pretty amazing, and that it's only getting better. You dislike the slower pace of the game, many of us really enjoy it. There's already plenty of games ( including other mods for Arma 2 ) that offer a much faster pace. This isn't one of them, and I don't think it ever will be.

    Why Day-Z Fails

I guess I have a little more patience than you do. This guy Omerta said he's got all the gear he could possibly want ( save a ghillie suit ) in 8 hours. That's really not that bad. I've been going for 2 weeks now without dying and still want to replace the L85 that glitched and I lost. For you guys, maybe the game's not fun. For a lot of us still here, it is. Maybe you guys should find something new to play. I don't mean it as an insult, maybe the game's just not for you.

    Mode of Operation - KOS?

My general modus is that if I get the drop on the person, I move behind cover and call friendly and demand that they stop over local. If they don't respond within a reasonable period of time ( and ESPECIALLY if they're coming right at me ) I assume that they're hostile and act accordingly. For you, having no gear makes the decision easy for some people. Death is just another part of DayZ in that regard. If you're not announcing yourself as friendly, you're asking to get shot as well.

    Allowing a Locked server

As long as it's not connected to the Hive, I think it's fine.

    Controversial Topic: BANDITRY IS DEAD.

I don't honestly believe that Alt-f4 is 'destroying DayZ', but it's definitely detrimental to the game integrity. I think you're being a shade overly dramatic - what makes this game great is player interaction, both good and bad, and the emotions you derive from these interactions. Boiling everything down to Alt-F4 is to discount everything else this game truly offers. I know that most of you have managed to kill another player in this game, at some point - whether he was a bandit or a noob. Obviously SOME people aren't alt-f4'ing. Is it a game-breaking mechanic? Yes, absolutely. Will it get fixed? I think so. Is it 'destroying' the game? Only if you let it for you.

    Controversial Topic: BANDITRY IS DEAD.

You realize you could apply this same logic to yourself, correct? Calling someone a coward because he decides to be a sniper is pretty immature. Even though I don't believe the game has truly degraded into a deathmatch ( nor would I honestly want it to ) - what of it? Why is he any more wrong or right than you are to play the game in that manner? If he wants to kill every person he sees, that's his right just as its yours to elect not to.
  19. I fail to see how any further discussion with you can be anything but negative, dragon. You cling to your beliefs, I will continue to endorse mine. I won't indulge your desire to continue this ridiculous display of unabated anger and derision at anyone who disagrees with you. I've provided evidence counter to your theories already, you have dismissed it. There's nothing else to say. Best of luck to you.

    Man on the hill

Probably sneak up and pilfer through his pack. If he so much as flinched, kill him. That situation would just be too tempting, I think.
  21. You're absolutely correct, Das1337. I demeaned his ability to debate like a civil adult, but only after enduring this entire thread of nothing but condescension and general dismissal of anyone who exhibited an opinion counter to his own.
  22. Clearly there is no civil discourse with you. I particularly like that you abjectly dismissed the link I provided you. Not once in this entire thread have I attacked you, only your position. Even then, i did it with a tone of respect. Evidently your upbringing or lack thereof doesn't avail you the ability to return the courtesy. That's your right, just like its mine to end this conversation here. Your anecdotes about how broken the game is because you were betrayed ad nauseam are truly the brokn record here. Reread that link I sent you and try to comprehend that you're living with your head in the sand. We are done here.
  23. How have PKers changed the atmosphere? The majority of the playerbase is using the tools that have been set in front of them. Right now, there's little incentive to group, and even less reason to trust anyone. That's going to change with the humanity system, as Rocket has already said repeatedly. But beyond that, nothing needs to change in regards to banditry, really. Even when the humanity system comes into play, there will STILL be players that want to mindlessly kill other players, because thats what they want to do with the game. They're entitled to do that, just like you're entitled to want a game where PvP is under the parameters you'd prefer. Someone is not going to get what they want, and in this instance, that someone is probably going to be you, judging by the vision that Rocket laid out in that interview. Players should have incentives to group. I totally support and applaud this concept, and I 'think' it's one that Rocket shares. However, I don't advocate any sort of change, nerf, or otherwise to the game that will force a player to play a particular way, and that includes people who want to stack out Cherno and make life hell for anyone who enters. That's the sandbox we live in here, and that's the way it should stay. Edit: Not to thumb my nose at you, but if you haven't already, read Rocket's post here. He's talking back in May about the bandit/survivor morphing being removed, but he discusses PvP as a whole and how he will not be the solution: we are. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3141-banditsurvivor-morphing-to-be-removed/page__st__160#entry32219
  24. Again, you're resorting to insulting a particular brand of players because you dislike their playstyle. Me personally, if I'm gonna get ganked, I'd RATHER it be right at the beginning. Get that crap out of the way now, while I have nothing to lose. Losing a ton of stuff can be a bummer, especially if your group is ages away from your new spawn location. But that's the nature of the game. Those population centers are 'choked down' because PvPers KNOW that people love to congregate there to look for weapons and supplies. It's a terrible place to go as a new spawn, and it's even worse if you're by yourself. You're not going to legislate the game into a position where these so called 'dicks' are going to stop their behavior, man. Their behavior has been encouraged and the developer response has consistently been 'if you don't like it, get some of your friends together and do something about it'. EVE is actually FAR worse than this, because in EVE you can have MONTHS worth of work wiped out in an instant by a 'dick', as you call it. That's the nature of that game though, and when people start crying on the forums, the developers state one little sentence that warms my heart: "Welcome to EVE." Again, mindless murder will be in this game forever and ever. The humanity system will ( hopefully ) provide a method by which you can trust players who legitimately want to work together, but there will always be players that simply get their jollies off killing other players. In the future, I have a feeling that they will be more easily recognized from your standard run of the mill survivor, but I don't think their ability to do what they want to do in this game will be hampered in any way beyond that. I would just appreciate it if we could get away from the name calling and the abject derision that some of the community members here have of people that don't agree with their point of view. It's condescending, unnecessary, and altogether childish. We can all disagree here without that crap.
