  1. I don't think it's an unfair request, actually. Bohemia benefitted 'hugely' from DayZ, selling easily 500% more copies purely based off the genesis of this mod. If it is literally impossible for them to stop script injection, they need to be the ones to come out and say it. As it stands, we've got a DayZ development community that hasn't really addressed the issue, and BI hasn't made any official statements either. Meanwhile, I've heard plenty of people on both sides of the fence rail that it can and can't be done. Nothing personal, but unless you're working for one of these two entities, I just don't think your statement holds enough water for anyone here to really get satisfied from. I'm not even suggesting that Bohemia drop everything to support this enterprise ( even though it's been a huge cash cow for them, and wouldn't be a far fetched rationalization to do so ) - but they do owe a certain allegiance to the people here who have put a substantial amount of cash into their coffers. If nothing can be done - they need to say so.

    Epi-Pen

I definitely think the Epi-pen could stand to have added benefits, right now it's pretty much not worth carrying.
  3. This thread delivers.

    Bring Side Chat BACK!

The loss of side chat makes dying that much more painful - because you may never get to talk to the person who killed you, let alone exact revenge on them. The chat only allowed attention whores to ramble and victims to cry foul at their killers. It has no place in DayZ.

    What happened to DayZ?

Voice chat and direct work fine for me, but I've heard of others having this problem. It's a bug, and not intended. This isn't a good reason to re-enable global chat, though.
  6. I think the issue here is that people don't CARE where the problem stems - whether it's BattleEye or Bohemia. The fact is that they want it fixed and they can't understand why it hasn't been. That's a reasonable concern when people are getting hit over and over again by nukes or teleported ad nauseam. As far as I'm concerned, Battleye has to share some of the blame only because they ARE the anti-cheat portion of the problem, whereas Bohemia is responsible for the code of the game. Maybe Bohemia is hamstringing Battleye's efforts: I don't know. Again though, it doesn't really matter - they both end up sharing the blame. Regardless of who is actually to blame, the vast majority of people who are posting here aren't programmers and don't know the first thing about anti-cheat protection. They just want the shit fixed, period. That's not an unreasonable request.
  7. Nobody here is disagreeing that Admins get overly accused of abuse here. We obviously do. We get villainized when half the time the incidents that happen to the vast majority of players have nothing to do with us. That doesn't excuse locking your server for hours on end so you and your buddies can go farm gear. Trying to give a pass to this type of behavior just makes us as admins look bad. Don't disparage our cause - we've got plenty of people doing that already.

    Gunshots

They're fantastic. I've owned my pair for over a year. Be careful with the dongle and station, but as long as you take good care of them, they'll serve you well.
  9. You know, if you substitute 'admins' in this quote for your race of choice, a lot of people here would be up in arms. Admins get an unjust stereotype because of the actions of a few. Instead of making an ignorant, knee jerk judgement based on zero evidence, why not demand evidence to support the claim before coming to an 'educated' decision? Anything short of this just makes you look small minded. I don't think you're small minded, but I think you're embracing mob mentality when you're clearly better than that.

    What happened to DayZ?

Anyone who saw how global chat really was shouldn't want it back. People either used it to set traps to kill other players, or used it to cry about getting shot. Plenty of us were happy to see it gone.
  11. I'm going to assume you're not talking about things like Battleye Extended Control auto-locking the server when it's full to prevent DDOSing and such, and maintenance related locking like server restarts and such. Other than those two very specific instances, I totally agree. Locking your server should be a suspendable offense for your server.

Kicks by ping, and why its annoying

So basically you pissed and moaned about this, then upgraded your internet - which is what you should've done all along. Hilarious.

    Sonic Clan "Private" Server

It's very simple, send a message to one of the Developers here and tell them you wish your server to be removed from the Hive. The minute you're removed from the hive, this issue will go away all on it's own.

Kicks by ping, and why its annoying

Well, I 'did' read the thread, and I understand what he's saying. Again, those servers aren't always depopulated - I'm sure during peak times many of those servers are reaching capacity. 200ms is quite a bit of delay in a game where a half second can literally mean the difference between life and death in game. My server runs a 150 cap right now, and I have literally no intention of changing it. Why? Because the minute you open the door to 200+ pings is the minute that your server becomes innundated with internationals with such pings, desync errors and myriad other issues begin. The netcode on this game is already slapshod to begin with, and I'm not about to make my server a charity to make it worse. The guy HAS options. He's choosing to play on low pop servers because it's safer. That's fine, and I totally respect that. If the majority of the servers he's joining have a problem with his latency however, that's HIS problem, not the servers. Why not get a few of his friends together, pool some money and start up their own server where he can play the way he wants? You could run a server with an offset time, probably get the low pop he wants and still be able to set the latency to whatever he chooses. In short, server admins are already constrained more than enough by the DayZ development team. The Devs have already put out that a ping max of 150 is 'reasonable' and they're not going to legislate a change. His best bet is striking out on his own with his own server. Edit: And forgive me if I don't take your anecdotal evidence as fact. I'll run my server within the DayZ rules, and that includes setting a ping ceiling of 150.

    What is there to do..?

Zed, I heart you. Typing all of that on my phone would have been too much work and you did it for me.
  17. Actually it's not. There's a specific interview where he talks about a guy who was running around with a hatchet, piping music and axe murdering people for 'no' reason. He thought it was great because it was so incredibly messed up. I'll find the video and post it for you later. Encouraging cooperation isn't about stopping griefers - griefers are going to persist in this game in one form or another unless you make killing other players punishable by bans or something, which is unrealistic and stupid. Encouraging cooperation will stop the vast majority of senseless killing though, because trust will be much easier to come by. As the game currently stands, it's literally EASIER to just shoot on sight than it is to trust another player right now, because you have so much at stake if you trust someone, whereas murdering someone carries no weight whatsoever. If you think you're going to some how legalize the realm of 'senseless killing', you're looking at the problem in way that's ultimately going to only lead to your disappointment. Smokey - THAT thread is a step in the right direction, in my opinion. I'm all for that, and I'm much more PvP-centric than a lot of you guys are. I wouldn't consider myself a griefer, but I definitely follow a pretty strict KoS doctrine with people outside my inner circle. Not because I really want to kill everybody, but because it protects me from being hurt or taken advantage of.

    Game Nerfed BAD!

Why? It was already too easy before.
  19. Glad we can keep recycling these same points here without offering real solutions. Rocket already has said he wants to support the 'lunatic' playstyle, so to speak. When more people have reasons to group I honestly believe thesr individuals won't be in the majority like they are now, but their playstyle shouldn't be punished purely because it upsets you.
  20. My god either post real suggestions or get out guys. I dont want your doctoral thesis on how you think people would act in a real apocalypse. Let's try to pose real, constructive ways to encourage cooperative play or just agree to disagree. What you people are saying here has already been said ad nauseam across these boards and it falls on deaf ears.
  21. Solo, your post was completely unhelpful and not constructive. I could tell you to go play Hello Kitty Online or WoW, but that isn't helpful either. Post constructive ideas on how to improve the game or just don't post at all. Telling a certain portion of tye playerbase to.leave because you hate what they do is just unrealistic and asinine.
  22. In my opinion, it really 'is' irreconcilable. Not because I'm some sort of griefing asshat that prides himself on wasting fresh spawns with my AS50 ( I would think that'd be rather boring ) - but because I think that limiting that aspect of PvP is a slippery slope. Where's the line where we say 'This type of PvP is bad' vice 'This type of PvP is ok'? We could show a hundred people on these forums the same video of a player being killed, and get probably just as many opinions on the 'validity' of that kill. I sympathize with the players who are tired of seeing the same old KoS mentality combined with the systemic mistrust that permeates the game in it's current state. I really do believe that most of these things WILL change, but I think there will always be an element of players in this game who prides itself on one thing and one thing only: killing other players. You NEED that element to round this game out. That element is what is going to continue making going into a city scary, talking to another player intimidating, and ultimately keep you on the edge of your seat as you attempt to claw your way to survival in Chernarus in the weeks and months to come. Without it, the edge that this game puts so many players on will become dull and meaningless. So like I said before, let's at least ATTEMPT incentives first, give players real, tangible in game benefits to working together, and see where it goes from there. I really don't think people WANT the cold blooded murderers to disappear from Chernarus - you just don't want EVERY survivor in Chernarus to be one.
  23. First of all, name calling is childish and unnecessary. I asked you to read the thread before you interject yourself into a conversation. That's it. Your post certainly inferred to me that you hadn't, judging by how you replied to me and the fact that I had just advocated group mechanics in this very thread. I didn't call you a moron or anything else. That juvenile crap is for the schoolyard.. I'm going to assume you're over the age of 18 and that we can rise above name calling here every once in a while. You don't know me, and I don't know you. With that, I'm going to try to not make this personal, and I hope you'll rise to the occasion and do the same. Flaming back and forth will accomplish nothing here. The funny thing is, even after I told you I stopped reading - I 'did' read you post and even respond to it. Group mechanics is something that practically everyone is on board with - I have yet to meet someone on either side of this debate that doesn't think more group mechanics would be a good thing. My point that I've consistently made here is that the 'herp a derp' ( again, is this 'really' necessary? ) bandits you refer to have a legitimate right to continue playing the game the way they're playing it. Trying to determine when it's 'ok' to kill/murder/whatever you want to call it another player is subjective at best, and game breaking at worst. I'm fine with giving players incentives to group and to work together, but what I'm not for is punishing a particular play style because somebody wandered into Cherno, got his head blown off, and wants to come onto the forums to vent about it. That imminent danger is part of what makes this game great, and diminishing it would be a disservice to the game.
  24. The ban appeals forum has this neat little sticky that says "do not post here if you have been kicked.". Now the onus isn't on me to prove anything as a server admin, you get a nice little message that says excessive ping when you get kicked. There is no ambiguity. If someone posts admin abuse and says he got kicked for high ping, he should get laughed right off the internet.
  25. Mine is at 200 and it isn't going to change. Take that K Mart internet somewhere else.
