bully (DayZ)

Hey guys, yesterday i stumbeled upon a a post from a guy with a solution to get dayz to run better...after following his instruction my dayz (and arma2) runs GREAT now..really for me its a 100% fps increase ...from around 20 fps in ig towns to 40 fps in big towns ...and i can even set things to high now! anyway the simple fix goes as follows: go to "my documents"------.in that folder is a map called "ARMA2"----- open that map-------inside that map are 2 .cfg files namely: ArmA2.cfg and ArmA2OA.cfg. when u open the cfg file with notepad u get like 10 lines of text. only these 2 lines are important: GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=3; change both those values to this: GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; do this for both ArmA2.cfg as for ArmA2OA.cfg and your done! really its that simple and makes (for me and from what ive read a whole lot of other ppl) a BIG difference! maybe everybody knows about this allready but there you go...do yourself a favour and try it out..if it doesnt work for you u can always change it back to the old values. when this is helping you and you meet me ingame (the name is Zed) give me a tin of backed beans plz (-:

Hey guys, I can use direct chat just fine, and the people i meet can read it...but i NEVER get any reply! i talked to around 10 ppl the last week of whom im sure they could read my direct chat (i ask them to lie down for yes and stand up for no...a uneasy way to communicate but atleast im sure the can read my chat) i always explain how to chat to the guys ("." key to scroll to direct comm the "/" to get a cursor to type) but out of those 10 ppl NONE replied! it was not like they didnt want to chat or group because the grouped up with me and did ther stuff i asked over direct chat (another proof they can read my chat) am i meeting the most daft survivors .........or are they typing and cant i read them...i.e. is the problem on my end not recieving their chat?

aaw u know.... i meet mostly friendly players (i must be real lucky if i read this forum) and sometimes i DO want to murder them but i just cant do it and end up helping them (-: im just 2 soft hearted for this game lol in a reall apocalyps id be amongs the first to die no doubt (-: on the other hand i did meet some very nice groups

i found that fiddeling with your graphics settings gives you a fps drop aswell sometimes...best to change the settings to what u like then restart the game but still 60 fps is pretty good...what did u have before u tried this fix?

allright...hope it works. you do have both arma2 and the expansion dont you? (well u must have otherwise u couldnt play dayz)

look up how to install the mod...it takes a lot of work )-: with all the patches and whatnot

hm thats wierd try changing the settings for your armaoa.cfg

hmm maybe i only works forr ppl with older machines like myself (core duo 2.4 , 4 gig memory and a hd7850 (atleast thats what i think my vid card is) as for the values...i have no idea what they change or what the numbers mean..i just copied and paste it from some old post....but if ur scared u can always type back the old values. good to hear it helped some ppl!...ill be waiting on my backed beans now (-:

hmm..well im pretty sure atleast half of those guys (5) where trying to tak...but appearantly couldnt figure out how.... guess im just unlucky with the survivors i met also i dont have a mic...but do i need to set up anything to let me hear ppl chat (with a mic) over direct comm?

Its sure is! i was about to kinda give up on dayz cause of the poor framerate in electro and cherno....now after using this tweak... it runs just great even with much higher settings enabled!

aww is it not? i was so happy when i found out it worked so great i wanted to share it with new guys like myslef..im sure this post will help a few noobs like myslef

So i saw some youtube videos about DayZ and decided to get the game and see what all the hype is about. heres some of my very first encounters playing this mod: one of my first spawns was near some harbour with lots of tall buildings that i wanted to check out ...but also it lookked like zombie central with all these walkers around. so i am sneaking past some zombies, trying not to freak out since i dont have a weapon and cant defend myself, when all of a sudden i hear loud footsteps and agitated zombies running towards me. thinking i had f-ed up i was ready to meet my maker when aal of a sudden this guy comes speeding past me trailing like 10 zombies begind him. so i stay as still as possible and they guy, along with the train of zombies. just ran past me. since there was nothing i could do to help the guy i decide to continue rading this 3 story building i was near. After like 5 minutes i reach the top of the building (no good loot there) i scout my surrounding and what do i see way of in the distance?..the same guy running from about 30 zombies now...i was laughing my ass off. i see the guy run into a building and out of sight. thinking the guy must have died i tried to make my way to him (his body hopefully). after a good half hour i finally get there only to see the guy is still alive and has a gun! we are both phrone between like 10 zombies looking at each other for a good 10 secs...when the guy shoots me and get instantly eaten by a horde of zombies...sadly i die from the bullets. another (shorter story) was the nest spawn; i spawn near the coats and find myself a hatchet. so thinking im boss now since i finally have a weapon i decide to follow the road. after 5 minutes of walking i hear a motorized vehicle approching. so (foolishly) i go to the midle of the road trying to get the buggy to stop (i alleady had visions of the guy stopping and givving me a ride) when the guy in the buggy accelerates and tries to run me over! so i panic (again) and try to run away when the buggy stops and out come 2 guys in gilly suits with silenced machine guns. needless to say i didnt make it far (tried to kill them with my hatchet but it did work out for me.) anyway just wanted to say GREAT mod! i havent been so imersed (sp?) into a game for long time.really stressfull but rewarding when u survive/find good loot there are still many things i havent figured out yet (like the whole chat system..how does that even work?..is there like a main chat that lets you chat to the whole island?) but i love the mod..looking forward to play more tonight!
