Optimal is dependant on your location and the available resources in the locality. A city increases the resources but also the number of rivals and infected, for example.

Thid person - check. Logging out to fill magazines - check. Running up steep hills in a direct line - check. Bring it on, bitches ;) (Sarcasm - OT nice find, if a little niche for most players)

Most games these days allow you to murder people and kill things, so you are probably accustomed to this. God forbid you hear any swearing or nudity, that will corrupt you. Enjoy the game!

Hello all. So, being on the recieving end of a childish admin kick on a particular server (Vanilla, Private Hive), I decided to enact some vengeance. This involved my running around the edge of the map, trying to locate one of the main bases on the server (best place to start is the edge, it attracts camps like flies around shit - for the less experienced rambler!). I started in the extreme SW, making sure to check all the obvious woodland clearings that Mountain Men of The Edge use as helipads. I found several small groups of tents on the way, then hit paydirt at the head of the Guba inlet (128,012). I then annouced the location to the server, role-playing as a Communist I wanted my fellow proletariat survivors to share the wealth of helicopters, vehicles and enough firepower to launch a prolonged insurgency. Sadly, the Clan members did not approve and the word 'prick' was banded about a lot, along with the threat of murder and being banned :) Video to follow, once it is processed :) For the Motherland!

I am UK based, but it is a stable connection, guessing should be a couple hundred ping. Will connect tomorrow :)

Hi Terror. I do not like being banned because I choose to play the game my own way. Not sure who it was, but I guess that grumpy Scot, Hitty. Ironically, the only reason I decided to hunt down camps was becuase he childishly kicked me the other day, but I guess he hasn't worked that out yet. Oh well, GLHF :)

Just checked YouTube, and it said it failed to convert. I will try again. I the meantime, the grumpy Scottish admin called Hitty has banned me, took a screeshot of the reason. It seems Team Old Skool, UK 498 only like you to play how they want you to play. They also deleted my registered account on their website. Sacre bleu! :P

PS - should it take YouTube over 12 hours to process an 8 minute video? :S

I was asking a few questions about the server, and generally chatting. Then the admin, got quite moody, calling me names and such. I said I do not play games to have to deal with moody people, and he said 'deal with this' and kicked me from the game. The seed was sown.

As the topic title suggests, I'd like to discuss this subjects with a view to them being implemented in DayZ. Well, we do eat and drink. The natural byproduct should be to pass water and defecate. This could add a whole new dimension to the game. Eating some raw meat? Oh no, perhaps your stomach cannot handle it and using a modified passing-out mechanic, you empty your bowels quickly/vomit everywhere. In the future, having dog companions could be used to track down your quarry based on where their piles of poop/favourite pee trees are. The possibilities are endless. Having recentley just re-watched 'Pitch Black, again, there could even be scope of a menstruation mechanic in game, but then this could put female characters at a natural disadvantage due to blood loss. Anyone else have any interesting thoughts on how these mechanics could play out in the mod? :)

Origins seemed to be tuned more for team play - unless your lowly goal is to be a bandit. Vanilla fun is dependant on the server, its community and your own imagination ;)

Do not go near the coast post-spawn, sorted ;) Intellectual essay? Well, it is an essay. Not saying you are not bright, but no need to precede essay with intellectual ;)

Set yourself a meta challenge. Currentley, I am on a Vanilla server noting down all the tent locations and searching for vehicles. A clan member and admin of the server kicked me for daring to ask a few questions. I shall post back here once my task is complete :P

Origins is ok, but I feel it is more for clan/group play than Vanilla. I seem to get KoS on any server, days of being a medic seem to be over until SA.

Infection is not a death sentance. Eat a bit of food en route to hospital (or two) or go slay hordes of undead. I got infected today, ran 3km to a hospital, no antibiotics. Decided to log off and try later, or you could just clear the hospital of all loot, run away for ten minutes and come back.

I bound my TS push to talk key to shift, which for me in game was walk. Got me killed a couple of times before I was arsed to change to bind. Running into buildings with only one entrance/narrow corridors and getting overwhelmed by zeds (barracks buildings, log cabins). Using my pen knife as an 'autorun' key before making a cup of tea/smoking a fag - only to come back and find I have moved 4 feet and am running into a tree. Using roads flares at night in cities. Taking a good good with one clip over an average gun with 10 clips. More to follow as I wake up.
