I don't see a problem. My car broke down recently in RL. I had to carry the windshield glass, engine block (big V8) jerry cans, a spare tire, my hatchet (I was quartering a moose), all at the same time. Here's a pic (that's my buddy in the Heli)

Better sights and telescopic sight for crossbow

It's been discussed before but still, I don't know any crossbow hunter who hunts without a low power scope or red dot (and I know quite a few). Even basic crossbows come with some sort of peep sight. Crossbow bolts should come in stacks of 4, a common quiver size. And maybe a 3 or 4 second reload timer between shots. -

I'm going to side with the complainers on this one. Let's be honest. Although it's kinda funny, it did take you out of the game for a moment. While I think we can give our community members a nod (some awesome people that have really made DayZ what it is) It should be fairly subtle. Maybe some faded posters on a wall texture with a small hint if you look close enough, or some graffiti that takes some looking at and deciphering. I also vote for option 1. Version 2 brings back painful memories of Counterstrike AWP/DE comboers. Any chance to up the speed of the animation to say, 3 seconds? 4 seconds of sitting still is a tad too long to leave oneself vulnerable. Optics can be fragile and can go out of whack fairly easily if not mounted properly. This usually applies to civilian, hunting type rifles. Shotguns shooting a lot of slugs or heavy loads can beat up a cheap scope too. Military guns are generally (let's pretend) well mounted with good rings and rails. It would take a heavy hit to knock them out of zero. I'm all for survivors needing to do some windage/elevation adjustments on a found scope though. It would mean you have to waste a few shots, and possibly give your position away by taking some shots at a target, or your gun might be randomly off a bit. -
You could go with the popular choice: i5 3570K but that would mean a motherboard replacement. I'm not sure you can get much more of an upgrade in a standard AM3 socket MoBo.

You did well, especially if you took advantage of a steam sale. The mod, even in its current state is probably one of the best games out there right now. The SA is likely not going to be released soon (could be wrong). My feeling is that they really want to get DayZ (SA) right and are adding some surprises for us behind the scenes. Balancing, tweaking, adding new features and working out bugs always takes far longer than anticipated. Enjoy the mod. you made an excellent buy. -

You find dayz vanilla "Hard" and Origins "Scary"? I don't quite agree on either point. I think you just need to play the game a bit more. You'l get the hang of it soon and the difficulty scale will be reduced. -

For fuckssakes people, cows and goats are not milk canisters. They only produce milk naturally when they have kids/calves. A cow you would encounter in the field would be dry. This idea has been raised a bunch of times

Tight budget indeed. If you have an old PC you might be able to recycle the case and save a bit. Otherwise, I would suggest a video card such as a Radeon HD 6850 or 6870 from Ebay (Not the 7750). I would personally complement that with an i5 2500K but something like that will likely bump your overall budget up to 300 or 350.

I agree with TMW Se7en^. I can't do outrage at OP. Maybe because it's Friday, maybe because there's some truth to what he says. Origins offers something new but not necessarily better. I thought it was a much richer mod at first too but the novelty wore off. To me, Origins is now lacking in what's now been added to vanilla DayZ by R4z0r and team...the new items, upped difficulty, infections, etc. It's just too easy, especially once you have your houses built and an arsenal of items/vehicles/weapons. I still have faith that once the SA is out, the team will throw themselves at regular patches and updates, keeping things new and interesting. -

Another tip is, when you're desperate, ask for help, tell 'em you're a noob. I do this all the time even though I've been playing for a year and you'd be surprised by how nice people can be. Rather thank KOSing with your M4, maybe you could have traded it for antibiotics. Take it easy, be strategic, don't get hit, and try to make allies. And when you do get killed (as will often be the case), shrug it off and get back in. You'll get to a point where the game will seem quite easy, even with this patch. -
No real difference.It's not like you're going to hang around inside and play cards with your buddies. Level 1 houses store 10 weapons or tools, and 500 items (same as small garage) Level 2s store 25 weapons or tools,and 500 items Level 3s store 50 weapons/tools and 500 items (same as large garage) Lock it up and no-one can take anything Don't build garages on slopes.

The Dayz Mod homepage should have an easy to follow getting started guide. This would remove a large number of unneeded help threads and new player frustration.

This is not a good idea. Firstly, any food one finds in a survival situation will be sealed. In cans or vacuum packed bags. You won't find a turkey dinner sitting on a table inside a house. And what kind of asshole poisons food and just leaves it there for others to consume when they come across it at some random time? Food should be precious enough for you to hold on to for eating yourself. This just seems like griefing.

Yep. I can confirm what DirtyCry said. Be careful about building on a hill. And when you finish your garage,don't ignore the last stage (roof). Someone might come by with a heli and shoot at your car.

You wake up in a sealed off room, with a chair or something against the door. I like this random wake-up thing better than standing on the beach. More disorienting.
