    I die when i join a server.

Has been happening to me a lot as well since 1.7.2.6. Will try downgrade/upgrade thing. Cryptex, this is really easy to do if you use dayZ commander. Simply click on "install/update" at the top of your main window, and you can select your dayZ version from a popdown menu. Then click "install".

    Tent Help

Ok learned two new things here. Thanks Wasnu. 1. I didn't know that only the first save works. So I can keep loading up a tent and saving and none of the newly added stuff will save? If someone can confirm this "first save" rule, please let me know. Otherwise I'll assume that's how it works. 2. Pressing Save 3 or 4 times. Thanks again. didn't know you needed to do this just to make sure a tent saves. If I repack a tent, then place it somewhere else...does it count as a first save again?
  3. Cities could make the shotguns and even melee weapons relevant again. Better close-quarters combat optionsinside buildings , while retaining sniping options on the streets/rooftops
  4. Can confirm. Fuel drains upon log, cars repair to full. Also, can cofirm that my cars/tents (hidden well and FAR apart) are in the habit of just disappearing on my empty server and I keep logging into debug with zero gear. Poopburgers all around.
  5. Thanks for the post. Great info, very much appreciated.

    Issue With Sound

Thanks for the response AnarchyBrownies^. Just logged back for more testing. Sound works fine for everything else. Only footsteps come in on left channel, and only in 3rd person mode (1st person sounds fine). Again, all other sounds (ocean, birds, gunshots, whatever) sound fine and come from the correct speaker based on my orientation. Using a 1 week old Razer Charcharias headset that plays great from other sources.

    Engine parts?

I've found engine blocks in those small open lean-to sheds inmost towns. They usually contain a car wheel or other part. Good luck
  9. wow I didn't know the no damage thing from 9mm. Thanks for that info.

    Issue With Sound

I also have audio issues but my problem is different. My player's footsteps are only heard through the left speaker. Every other sound works on both sides (gunshots, ambient noises, etc.) except for my own footsteps. Is this a normal Arma thing or am I alone?
  11. My two best moments: Cherno grocery store...I was carefully approaching back doors, crouched, zeds nearby. Dead guy/flies near front doors. Suddenly, BANG BANG, ...pistol shots from close (missed completely). I had no headset so i'm in spint mode, doing a quick dance to look around. I see bandit skin pop up from prone to crouched about 10 feet from me. How'd I not see him? As he's done crouching, I empty a 1911 a clip into his legs. He's shouting at me in voice: "Bullshit..How the hell are your legs not broken". II reload but I have only 2 shots left. I plug him quick as he's attempting to crouch again. He's KOd. My legs snap, I'm KOd too. Both of us are writhing on the ground, out of ammo and bleeding. I't s a Kodak moment. I got lucky and wake up first. Switch to my CZ with 4 shots left, finish him off. The whole time we didn't pull a singe Zed. Luckiest moment for me. Another time, I'm runing across NW airfield, from Hangar side to Barracks, at the end of the runway (grass/bushes). I spot a pair of black boots sticking out of a bush (almost missed it..had to circle back). It's a ghillied sniper in the grass prone, doing circles as he heard me almost run over him. I quickly plug him with 1911 again. Guy was watching the hangars which moments before I had decided not to bother looting. Most rewarding kill. Died anyway to another guy at the bararcks moment later. Very satisfying kiling bandits/snipers

    Tent mechanics - please clarify

Thanks so far. Good notes. I had no idea tents can shift during server restarts Also forgot to ask, if anyone has any experience with DayZ or ArmaII patches. Do these have a tendency to wipe tents/contents or otherwise affect things? I'm aware that the patch itself can bug tents out (as in 1.7.2.5) ..I'm just asking about the process of patching. Thanks again,

    Tent mechanics - please clarify

Despite reading the DayZ wiki DayZDB and other forum posts, I felt it neccessary to ask you guys for help in clarifying tent mechanics, as of 1.7.2.6. I'm new to tenting. Some of my specific questions are: - Ownership. I know that the owner only can pitch and repack a tent, but can any player "save" effectively? If I put stuff in a buddy's tent, will my save take effect, or do I need owner to save properly through server restarts? - What happens when owner dies? Does he still retain ability to repack a tent? - when a random player comes across my tent, loots and then saves it, is that save effective (I believe it should be)? - Can a tent be saved any number of times? - How do server restarts/crashes affect tents. If I save my tent just before a server goes down, can I expect the tent to revert to an earlier save point, disappear, or lose items? - Not interested in duping so please don't comment on that aspect - Is the tent 53 slots (dayZwiki) or 65 slots (dayZDB)? - What bugs/mistakes can cause me to lose items, (other than overloading or not saving) - Please provide any fine points in the art of tenting you might have discovered. Anything that would prevent one from properly storing gear. thanks in advance,
  14. I understood most of that except for you not taking damage from a 9mm and taking 30 rounds to the face. what's that all about?

    Gaming headsets, Surround sound?

I just bought a Razer Charcharias. Very comfy, looks like it's well built. Sounds great, good price. http://www.razerzone.com/ca-en/gaming-audio/razer-carcharias
  16. Are you sure you found a crash site and not a pilotable crashed vehicle? Did the downed chopper give you the option to "save" when you rolled over it?

    Abandoned or just Incommunicado?

I think what gets under people's skin is that Rocket is on a media circuit doing interviews like a one-man marketing company. The problem is, there's not much to hype at this point. I can deal with the bugs, I can wait a couple years for a stand alone. This stuff takes time to do right... but why in the crucified christ fuck spend so much time promoting a non-existent product? Sell it after it's made. Besides, the word-of-mouth popularity of the mod has surpassed the need for continued interviews for the gaming community

    Abandoned or just Incommunicado?

Nah...the "be patient" line sounds a bit like fart-catching at this point. Simple glitches need to be addressed, not excused. Otherwise it'll stay a perpetual alpha...which might be the case anyway. A one-line forum post keeping fans in touch is not a difficult thing to accomplish, even if they are pressed for time. PS. Was it really crucial to flog an Alpha at Gamescom for a week? I wonder if they had artifacting issues on the gameplay demos there

    Question to the devs

Ya throw us a bone forchrissakes
  20. the ATV thing made me lol^ I just sat one that needed two tires, to show a buddy what I found. I quickly proceeded to die while the thing blew up.

    Tent items disappearing

Wow Scheff^ I have the EXACT same story. Pitched and loaded a tent on a low-pop server (4 players on at the time, and RL buddy was one of them) Extremely well hidden, in obscure place in North-east. Logged in 4 hours later, it was completely empty, and a second empty tent was pitched not far away. Server still only had like 5 people on. Tent was so well hidden under a tree, I couldn't even find it. Had to search area for 10-15 minutes Maybe someone is turning off vegetation or running some other shithead script and finding them? or is it a glitch? Anyway, I think I'm done playing until standalone.
  22. Street Signs are in Cyrillic. Can't be Czech. But yeah, CZ550 is a Czech gun.probably an homage to the country of the developer, but CZs are popular hunting rifles around the world.
  23. Awesome thread. Tons of good suggestions. My 2 cents: - No zombie sprinting (maybe a jog). Implement character fatigue and this should even things out a bit, especially if zombies can still attack while moving. Head/leg shots only to disable zombies. also love the idea of random zombie spawns on map, and some "dead" zombies standing up to attack when they sense players nearby...these ones could be really slow movers. - Loose ammo. Great idea. Make ammo scarcer. If you find a box of shells, it could only have 2 or 3 rounds in it, or even full if you're lucky. Guns have 1 magazine, extras should be a bit less common than now. - Barricading a house to set up temporary shelter and hide. Some houses could still be barricaded but not really have anyone inside, or maybe infected inside. PLayers would have the choice to break down door to find loot or enemy/zombie. Barricading would also reduce the need to set up a camp. A group could set up base in a cluster of houses somewhere. - More End-game stuff (lots of ideas mentioned by others) - Shopping carts. A rolling tent with a wobbly wheel. gotta do it. Maybe injured players can hop inside and get pushed. Thanks all for the contributions,
  24. No keycards please. Keep things low-tech. padlock and key maybe, or a vengeful dog to protect against strangers ... I'm not for underground bases at all. Survivors wouldn't have the means to power up an excavator and start pouring foundations or buttressing subterranean tunnel systems. Maybe a wood/sandbag/wire fence type bunker compound, or if a voxel editing option exists for maps, maybe some shallow caves but I hope they don't implement underground.
  25. Do we need a shot direction indicator when being fired at? Recently, I've had real trouble figuring out where a shooter is (even the general direction). I keep spinning around searching everywhere until I die. Granted, I play using 2.1 speakers and not a good headset (I assume most use2.1) and I don't pull any tard moves like removing bushes/trees/buildings or tweak graphic settings. Shouldn't my character at least know where the bullet came from when I got several rounds in me? or at least be able to hear the general direction (left, right, in front or behind) of a shot? I know from experience when hunting in the woods, that I can tell the general direction of shotgun and rifle sounds in neighbouring properties, 300+ meters away. Getting kinda tired of doing a death dance whenever fired upon. -never scripted, never will
